Chapter 41 - 41: The D clan is having a party!

He stood and kicked the four empty boxes aside, a wave of annoyance washing over him. The news had reported that God Valley's treasure vault held countless rare treasures and at least six Devil Fruits. Yet, after all his hard work, he could only watch as the Wave-Wave Fruit and Paw-Paw Fruit were taken by someone else, leaving him with absolutely nothing.

Damn it! he thought. Where are the other four Devil Fruits?

Were these empty boxes some kind of joke? This whole trip was turning into a complete waste of time.

Just as he was about to leave and search another area, an indescribable tremor shook the very foundations of the earth.

Boom!

It wasn't a normal earthquake; it felt far more intense. The entire island of God Valley seemed to groan in pain. The ground beneath Kyle's feet shook violently, and he quickly braced himself to stay upright. His golden eyes narrowed as he stared toward the distant sky.

That was where the storm was brewing.

The once-clear sky had turned dark and ominous. A terrifying net of black and crimson lightning stretched across it, striking the ground with furious power. This wasn't natural lightning. It was a clash of pure will—the physical manifestation of Conqueror's Haki. 1

Three distinct, yet equally terrifying, auras collided in the island's center, tearing at and crushing one another. The sheer force of their clash turned the sky black and the winds violent. Even from several kilometers away, Kyle could feel the oppressive pressure that made his very soul tremble.

"Oh my, this is crazy," Kyle muttered, a look of excitement replacing any fear on his face. "They've practically ripped a hole in the sky."

Only a handful of people in the world were capable of causing such a massive commotion.

Rocks D. Xebec. 2

Gol D. Roger. 3

Monkey D. Garp. 4

"Well, look at that," Kyle chuckled to himself. "The D. clan is having a party."

"Heh, the main event is finally starting," he said, hoisting his black-gold naginata onto his shoulder. He strode out of the cave with a grin. "A high-level battle between gods, and I don't even need a ticket. How generous. I have to go join the fun."

As he spoke, a shockwave erupted from under his feet. He shot forward like a black blur, speeding toward the apocalyptic, lightning-filled battlefield.

The closer he got to the center of the battle, the more terrifying the scene became. The lush forest that once covered the island was gone, replaced by a barren wasteland of scorched earth and ruins. The ground was split open by bottomless ravines, and massive boulders had been ripped from the earth by some immense force, only to be shattered into dust.

Kyle found a relatively stable clifftop and carefully concealed his aura before peering down at the fight below. The moment he saw the scene, he couldn't help but gasp. The area, stretching for several thousand meters, had become a living hell.

In the very center of the battlefield stood a tall man with a wild, fiery hairstyle. He wielded an ancient-looking longsword, but the aura pouring from him was more terrifying than that of a demon. Just by standing there, he seemed to subtly warp the space around him. This was the overlord of the seas, the Captain of the Rocks Pirates, Rocks D. Xebec. 5

Facing him were two equally legendary figures.

His own captain, Roger, was roaring with laughter, his long blade "Ace" coated in dark Armament Haki. 6 Every swing carried the undeniable aura of a king destined to carve his own path through fate. Thankfully, the straw hat on his head was completely unharmed.

The other man was his old acquaintance, Garp. 7 He was shirtless, his bronze muscles looking like they were cast from steel, covered in a web of scars. He carried no weapon; his iron fists were all he needed. With every punch he threw, the air groaned under the unbearable pressure, creating visible shockwaves that rippled outward.

"Holy crap," Kyle breathed, watching the battle unfold below. He couldn't stop himself from cursing. This wasn't a fight; it was a natural disaster.

Rocks laughed, a deep and hearty sound, before slamming a fist into the ground.

"Abyssal Tide!"

A wave of dark energy spread out from his fist like a tide, turning everything in its path—rock, soil, and trees—into nothing.

"Don't get carried away, Rocks!" Garp roared. He didn't dodge. Instead, he met the attack head-on with a punch of his own.

"Fist Bone: Meteor!"

Rumble!

The two fists—one that devoured all, the other that could shatter stars—collided. After a moment of dead silence, a destructive shockwave exploded outward from where they met. The cliff Kyle was standing on instantly crumbled, losing half its size from the aftershock. He was startled into retreating several hundred meters further away to stay safe.

"Hey, Garp! Don't try to hog all the glory!" Roger's voice was still perfectly clear even amid the deafening roar. "Watch out! This guy's Haki can pull people in!"

Before he even finished speaking, he had already leaped high into the air. He brought his beloved sword, Ace, down in a devastating slash, creating a massive blade of black and red energy that seemed to cut through heaven and earth.

"God Avoidance!"

The black-red sword energy tore through Rocks' dark domain, heading straight for his head with the unstoppable aura of a king.

Faced with a slash powerful enough to split an island in two, Rocks merely grinned. He advanced instead of retreating, raising his own sword to meet the attack with a slash of pure black energy.

"Overlord of the Seas!"

The black Conqueror's Haki lightning and the black-red sword energy slammed into each other, annihilating one another in mid-air. The collision created an energy storm so powerful it churned the clouds in the sky into a massive vortex.

Hiding in the distance, Kyle watched with fascination and a deep sense of longing. This is what a real man should be! he thought. This was the true pinnacle of power on the seas. One day, he would be the one standing there.

Every single one of their movements contained enough power to destroy the world. They didn't even have to try to destroy their surroundings; the mere aftershocks of their battle were enough to permanently alter the terrain and reshape the landscape. His own "Quake Mountain: Earth Roar Wave" was like a child playing in the mud compared to Garp's mountain-shattering fists. His "Light Blade: Heaven's Rainbow Cut" was nothing but a firefly next to the brilliant moon of Roger's "God Avoidance."

"Tsk, tsk. So this is what top-tier Armament Haki and Conqueror's Haki coating looks like," Kyle mused to himself, stroking his chin as he watched intently. "Conqueror's Haki coating… it attacks the soul and internal organs directly. I've definitely learned something new today."

He had no intention of jumping into the fight. Was that even a question? With his current strength, he'd probably be knocked unconscious by the aftershocks of their Haki the moment he got close. He even rummaged through his pockets, hoping to find some peanuts or popcorn to snack on, but all he found were hard ship rations.

Kyle watched the three figures clashing in the arena, his eyes burning with a fervent desire. He once thought that after getting a powerful Devil Fruit and training in all three types of Haki for a few years, he could be considered a strong man in this world. But today, he had witnessed the absurd power of the Gorosei, and now he was watching three living legends battle with his own eyes. And that wasn't even mentioning the hidden schemer, Imu, who had been pulling strings for centuries.

But so what?

It's because the mountain peak is so high that the climb is so interesting.
