Chapter 44 - Ch 44: Immediate Rejection - Part 1

'Huh… how weird. I don't feel any extra weight on top of me. Did I… wake up alone today as well?'

I opened my eyes, only to see no one else in the room. Even the black mass on the side table was asleep.

For a second day in a row, Theo was not in the room with me when I woke up. It felt liberating but also concerning.

"It is a good thing that Theo is getting more and more independent each day. There is no need for me to feel guilty or anything…"

I reminded myself, but a part of me still felt worried. And that worry must have shown on my face because even the mass of black on my table looked at me with a worried expression.

"Hey human, are you alright? You look worried about something. Can I help you out?"

The black mass asked and I felt suspicious of its intentions.

Fortunately, I was not in need of its services so I ignored most of its chatter and posted an inquiry in the hunter's forum about an open space on any team participating in the hunter's championship.
