"Oh, right—our last project wrapped up successfully," the assistant said cheerfully. "The General Office sent over a bonus. How would you like to use it, Miss Spark?"
At that, Cecilia opened the white envelope on her desk. Inside were a few gift vouchers and several thousand in cash—nothing special.
She waved her hand dismissively. "Book an afternoon tea at a Western restaurant. Split the rest among the team."
The assistant nodded with a grin and left happily, envelope in hand.
Not long after, Marylin showed up at the company.
She brewed herself a cup of English tea, then strolled into Cecilia's office.
"I heard you turned Adrian down?"
Cecilia's pen paused mid-signature. She didn't look up. "I've been meaning to refuse him for a while. Five million isn't a small amount—I can't take it."
Marylin dragged a chair to sit across from her, smiling slyly.
