This material is called an enchanted thorium ingot.
thorium is a rare metal, and its main purpose is to be added to Mithril to increase Mithril's hardness.
Before Adamantite was discovered, runic swords were all made by adding thorium to Mithril. However, there was a problem with Mithril-thorium alloy: adding too much thorium would affect Mithril's Arcane conductivity. Adding too little thorium, on the other hand, would not ensure the runic sword's sufficient hardness.
Later, when Adamantite was discovered, the Kaldorei Mages abandoned the Mithril-thorium alloy. Instead, they adopted a method of using Adamantite as a framework, engraving runes on it, pouring Mithril over it, and then enchanting it.
The Golden Holy Sword was made using this method, but to protect the Mithril enchantment on the sword, bronze, which has good Arcane conductivity, was added as a stabilizer. As long as it is not hit by a Disintegration spell, the Mithril enchantment mixed with bronze will never fail.
enchanted thorium ingots are completely different from thorium; thorium's effect is purely physical. enchanted thorium ingots, however, allow thorium to possess Arcane conductivity and Arcane storage capabilities, transforming it into a magical metal.
This piqued Gale's interest. He found some thorium ingots among the materials and then enchanted them according to the method in the book. A few hours later, an enchanted thorium ingot was completed.
Gale channeled Arcane Energy into the enchanted thorium ingot, and the enchanted thorium ingot gradually emitted a purple Arcane glow.
It is indeed a good magical material. If he had a batch of enchanted thorium ingots, Gale could mass-produce artifacts.
Thinking about equipping himself with artifacts in the future, even if he couldn't face the three leaders of the Burning Legion directly, dealing with those Dread Lords and Abyssal Lords shouldn't be a problem, right?
Unfortunately, enchanted thorium ingots cannot be used as a material for the broken queen's crown, otherwise it would be much simpler.
Gale could only turn his gaze back to the book. The first artifact recorded in the book was the tidal scepter.
The gem on the tidal scepter came from Titan Remains and was excavated along with the tidal stone of golganneth. According to the Mages' speculation, that Titan Remains should have been Gorgonnas's temple, which was later destroyed for unknown reasons.
Both the gem and the tide stone were enchanted with Titan magic. Savis used the tide stone to reactivate the gem's power, allowing it to control rivers, lakes, and seas, and also creating a subtle connection between it and the tide stone.
Although he didn't know what effect this connection would have, Savis speculated that this gem might be another tide stone.
Of course, this speculation remained only in the book and had not received any verification.
But in Gale's view, it was as if he had found the truth.
In game history, Azshara detonated the tide stone in Sin'dorei, flattening the entire Nathalas Academy. But the tide stone is one of the pillars of creation; how could it be detonated so easily? Did Azshara possess such immense power?
Now, Savis provided a reasonable explanation in the book.
There was a subtle connection between the tidal scepter and the tide stone. Azshara used the tidal scepter to draw energy from the Well of Eternity, channeling it into the tide stone, and then detonating it, flattening Nathalas Academy.
This gave Gale an urge to destroy the tidal scepter.
The tide stone is currently in Nathalas Academy. If the tide stone remains, it will always be a hidden danger.
However, this thought could only remain a thought. If he really destroyed the tidal scepter, he wouldn't even be able to escape Azshara's Eternal Palace.
But, leaving the tidal scepter as it was also made him feel unwilling.
After thinking for a moment, he approached the tidal scepter, infused Arcane Energy into it, and activated the tidal scepter. The Titan magic enchanted on it quickly manifested. Gale picked up a pen and recorded it.
He couldn't understand the titan runes at all, but he still had plenty of time to study them. If he thoroughly researched the titan runes, perhaps there would be a way to sever the connection between the tidal scepter and the tide stone.
Even if he couldn't cut the connection, understanding the powerful titan runes would still be a huge gain.
"Gale, what are you doing?"
Azshara quickly walked into the treasury, followed by Vaschi and several Royal Mages. Evidently, the recent activation of the tidal scepter had caught Azshara's attention.
Gale bowed and then presented the paper with his rune records to Azshara.
"Your Majesty, I am studying the titan runes on the tidal scepter. If we can understand these runes, we might be able to create artifacts as powerful as Titan artifacts."
Azshara frowned slightly. She didn't want others to study the tidal scepter. Her current status was largely due to the tidal scepter.
With her current position, even if the secret of the tidal scepter was deciphered, it wouldn't have a huge impact. But if the secret could be kept, why expose it?
Gale also didn't want to arouse Azshara's suspicion. He continued, "Your Majesty, I have already copied the runes. Please assign some people to me to test these runes."
"Just testing these runes?" Azshara asked softly.
"Exactly!"
Azshara breathed a sigh of relief, turned, and gave Savis a look, "Take a few Mages and assist Gale."
Savis understood, "As you command."
Azshara left. Savis said he would bring people over immediately, then also left in a hurry.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Gale redrew the titan runes again. He hid the original draft and handed the copy to Savis, who had rushed back with his people.
Savis waved his hand, duplicated the titan runes several times, and distributed them to the other Mages.
Gale, however, noticed that Savis subtly altered the runes while duplicating them. It was clear that he did not want the other Mages to truly study the titan runes.
Putting away the copy, Savis said, "Let them study the titan runes; you shouldn't put all your hopes on this. You still need to find other methods."
"Alright!" Gale readily agreed, "My skill level isn't quite enough yet, so I won't participate in the research."
He continued to flip through Savis's writings, then turned his attention to other artifacts. The power of the other artifacts was clearly not as great as the tidal scepter's, and their manufacturing method was exactly the same: pouring a large amount of Arcane Energy into enchanted thorium ingots, with no technical skill involved.
Gale put the book back on the shelf. This book, apart from the secrets of the tide stone, had no value.
As he took down another book, Gale watched as the Mages were scratching their heads over the runes. They had enchanted according to the titan runes several times, all of which failed.
They hadn't considered that Savis had altered the titan runes; they simply thought their enchanting method was incorrect.
