Chapter 216 - Chapter 216 Dath'Remar's Ambition

Venas's capture of a Storm Dragon quickly spread through the four major cities. Many active-duty soldiers eager for adventure were greatly encouraged.

If someone could capture a Storm Dragon, then, taking a step back, they should be able to capture a Storm Drake.

Vashj'ir, Admiralty.

Dath'Remar, having previously served as a Moon Guard officer, was now one of Salador's two deputies.

According to the Adventurer's Decree, Dath'Remar was due for rotation soon.

Originally, he had no interest in being an adventurer, as he was already a major. As long as he familiarized himself with naval affairs and fought a few battles, promotion and titles would be no problem.

However, the news of Venas capturing a Storm Dragon stirred Dath'Remar's heart.

As the last noble leader of Sin'dorei, Dath'Remar possessed strong self-esteem and a wild spirit. He was unwilling to fall behind others, especially his kin, Salador.

While thinking this might be a bit unethical, such is family. He had accepted Salador's recruitment before because there was truly no other path.

Now that a path had appeared, his mind immediately became active.

Thinking of this, he immediately contacted former Moon Guard who were also on rotation. At the first opportunity during their rotation, they boarded a merchant ship bound for Nordrassil.

During this period, many officers were heading to Stormheim, so Dath'Remar did not attract much attention.

He did not search for Storm Dragons first, but instead ascended Weeping Wind Cliff from the south bank of Weeping Wind Canyon. The former Moon Guard summoned their Arcane Eyes and searched towards Black Beak Cliff.

Large numbers of owl-beasts resided in the direction of Black Beak Cliff, which also meant a large number of Storm Dragons were entrenched there. However, Storm Dragons were not their target; their goal was to find a dragon's lair.

Such a large-scale search quickly yielded results.

In the southern part of Black Beak Cliff, they found a hidden dragon's lair. Several Drakes were playing near the lair, and there seemed to be no Storm Dragon nearby.

But Dath'Remar did not act rashly. Instead, he continuously monitored the dragon's lair and then began to prepare.

They used Arcane Energy to create a magical net.

After two days of surveillance, taking advantage of a Storm Dragon flying away, they opened a portal to the dragon's lair.

Dath'Remar was the first to enter and was immediately met with an attack from a Storm Drake.

However, Dath'Remar and his companions had brought the shields they used during their time in the Moon Guard. The lightning spewed by the Storm Drake could not penetrate the shields' defense. Even if it spread, the damage was negligible for the Mages protected by magical shields.

The Mages formed a formation and quickly approached the Storm Drake. Seizing the opportunity, they threw out the magical net.

The Storm Drake was covered by the magical net, unable to struggle free, and let out a shrill shriek.

Dath'Remar's expression was serious, "Act quickly, they are calling for help."

The Mages moved three times faster, defending against the Storm Drake's thunderous breath while pulling them towards the portal.

Sure enough, a roar came from the sky; it must have been the Storm Dragon returning.

Dath'Remar quickly said, "Faster!"

The Mages immediately dragged the Storm Drakes into the portal. Dath'Remar entered last and immediately closed the portal. Before the portal completely closed, they could still hear the booming roar of the Storm Dragon.

Dath'Remar watched the Storm Drakes still struggling, fearing the Storm Dragon would find them, "Establish a portal to Nordrassil."

The Mages immediately took out Nordrassil's teleportation crystal and infused it with Arcane Energy. Soon, the portal opened, and the Mages pulled the Storm Drakes inside.

Dath'Remar only relaxed after seeing all the Storm Drakes safely sent away. He entered the portal, and just as he was about to close it, he saw a giant dragon flying in the distance, letting out a mournful cry. He figured it was the Storm Dragon from earlier, searching everywhere for its children.

He also wanted to sympathize with its plight, but he had to complete his mission.

After closing the portal, Dath'Remar prepared to turn in the quest. However, as soon as he turned around, he found that there seemed to be more Storm Drakes.

No, it was that other people had also captured Storm Drakes. Moreover, their Storm Drakes were obediently lying in their arms, motionless.

It was a four-person team that had captured four Storm Drakes.

Dath'Remar's eyes widened. What kind of adventure team was this, achieving nearly the same results as their dozen Mages?

The one recording military merits was a priestess. She seemed a little surprised to see Dath'Remar and greeted him.

"Dath'Remar, you'll have to wait a moment. Venas's team arrived first, and I need to process their mission first."

Dath'Remar asked curiously, "Who is this Venas?"

"He is His Majesty's distant nephew," the priestess said. "He also captured a Storm Dragon before; I imagine you've heard of it."

Dath'Remar suddenly understood. No wonder he had found the name Venas a bit familiar just now!

So he was the adventurer who captured the Storm Dragon. He was King Gale's kin, and King Gale might have played an important role in it.

It was normal for Dath'Remar to think this way; everyone who heard Venas's family background would have similar thoughts.

Venas called to the priestess from over there, "Lady, quickly put the Storm Drakes in cages. They're about to become active; don't let them escape."

The priestess smiled apologetically at Dath'Remar and led Venas and his three companions to a building, "Put them in there!"

Venas and the three others entered the house and immediately saw cages everywhere. They put the Storm Drakes into the cages and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Lady, four Storm Drakes, to be counted for each of us four."

"No problem. What do you plan to do with these Drakes?"

"Of course, hand them over!" Venas said without hesitation.

Given their current strength, four artifacts were far more useful than four Storm Drakes. With paralyzing poison, they could capture as many Storm Drakes as they wanted.

Dath'Remar thought the same way. He also chose to hand over the Storm Drakes in exchange for artifacts.

At his current salary, it would take at least ten years to accumulate enough enchanted thorium ingot. To forge an artifact from enchanted thorium ingot would take at least a hundred years. To forge a new type of artifact cast by Gale, the time would have to be tripled again.

Moreover, keeping a Storm Drake would require feeding it. Currently, there was no way to tame a Storm Drake, so bringing one back would just be a burden.

After completing the mission, Dath'Remar decided to wait for his reward in Nordrassil. Once equipped with artifacts, they might be able to contend with a Storm Dragon.

By then, facing a Storm Dragon again, they might have the strength to fight.
