Chapter 323 - Chapter 323: Final Episode

"Dismount!"

Just as the arrows were about to hit the warhorses, Rostislav roared, then skillfully rolled off his horse.

Adam's movements were not slow; he immediately followed Rostislav's lead and also rolled off his horse.

The two rolled on the ground, sustaining little injury, as the warhorses had just started moving and their speed was not fast. It was just a painful bump when they landed.

However, the warhorses were in a very bad situation; they were directly shot full of holes, with at least dozens of arrows hitting them.

"Damn it, good thing I noticed."

Rostislav said subconsciously. Not long after Jia Dabi showed himself, he noticed the hidden archers, so he was already on guard.

And the moment the arrows were released, he decisively dismounted.

However, what Rostislav didn't know was that the arrows' initial target was the warhorses. As long as they got rid of the warhorses, they wouldn't be able to escape. Jia Dabi was very methodical in his actions; Rostislav only heard "corpses" and not "kill the horses."

At that time, the sound was covered by the warhorses' neighing because Rostislav had spurred the horse's belly, but the arrows arrived before the speed could pick up.

Rostislav, who had rolled to the ground, didn't get a chance to breathe, because in the next moment, a scimitar came slashing from the front.

Rostislav subconsciously deflected the force of the blow, then, before the attacker could make a new move, he brought his longsword down on the man's head.

Rostislav had never relaxed his personal martial arts training, because he knew that he might need it to save his life at any time.

As a Prince in battle, one must always be aware of facing strong enemies and always be ready for combat, otherwise, he will die on the battlefield sooner or later.

Again, blood splattered as usual, and the body fell, but the Moscow Prince didn't even have time to wipe his blade, because the next enemy was already in front of him!

Meanwhile, on Adam's side, Adam was fencing with an enemy wearing leather armor. His swordsmanship was much weaker than Rostislav's; he couldn't kill enemies with the same composure as the Moscow Prince.

Moreover, his opponent was holding a large round shield, defending like a turtle, which put Adam in a bitter struggle.

This guy kept holding up his shield, making Adam feel very difficult to attack, and he also had to guard against attacks from other enemies.

He had wounded many enemies but hadn't secured a single kill, while across from him, Rostislav had already claimed his third head. The Moscow Prince killed with ease.

Adam couldn't help but feel envious. If his battlefield skills were as powerful as Rostislav's, he could rampage on the battlefield like Rostislav, becoming the protagonist in ballads, instead of being trapped in those disgusting rumors all day long.

Just as he was thinking this, Rostislav's voice suddenly came.

"Arrows! Watch out!"

Adam was startled by the words; he had no way to defend against arrows, and then Adam thought of the guy in front of him carrying the shield.

The Bulgar Khan steeled his heart and decided to take a risk. He directly crashed into the shield, catching the shield-bearer off guard. The shield, which had been held up, was also shattered, and it was while he was caught off guard that Adam plunged his scimitar into his throat.

The moment the shield-bearer fell, he simultaneously picked up the shield, then squatted against a large tree, with the shield facing outwards.

Then a volley of arrows fell. He felt the arrows striking the shield, and then, in front of him, several "Sword of Justice" members were shot dead by arrows from their own comrades.

All of this happened within a few seconds, which made Adam unable to suppress his lament for the cruelty of battle. All this happened in these few seconds; these few seconds determined the life and death of so many people...

He thought of the scene of the battlefield; it was the same then, countless people died within a few short minutes...

However, he couldn't lament for long, because an axe had already struck his shield!

On Rostislav's side, the Moscow Prince's response was similar to Adam's, except he directly grabbed an enemy as a human shield. All the arrows shot into this unlucky captive, and similarly, these arrows also took out several unlucky individuals in front of the Prince.

The Moscow Prince had continuously cut down five people. The longsword he had carried for a long time clearly needed a good sharpening. If it weren't for the excellent quality of this sword, it would probably have been dulled long ago.

Out of a desire to preserve his weapon, Rostislav picked up an axe from the ground. Then, holding both sword and axe, Rostislav charged at the enemies, hacking and fighting with dual weapons in the enemy crowd.

"Bastards! Stop shooting! Why are you all missing!"

Seeing the archers mistakenly kill five people, Jia Dabi was furious. How could these people be so useless? It's one thing to miss the shots, but why are they killing their own allies!

The Bulgar's heart couldn't help but grow anxious. Failing to deal with these two for so long made him worry. The guards would eventually arrive when they heard the noise, and then they would be finished...

Reason told him to run, but he was unwilling to. If he ran, it would be difficult to find such an opportunity again if he missed today's chance.

At this point, he could only be grateful that he hadn't brought many people; only a portion of his subordinates were here.

Moreover, most of his classmates, who were the main cadres of the "Sword of Justice," were not here either, so even if he died, the resistance could continue.

As the saying goes, what you fear will come. Just as Jia Dabi was worrying about the guards, a sudden sound of horse hooves came from behind him.

What appeared before the guards was a volley of arrows. These arrows from horse bows were accurate and fierce, immediately causing a swath of archers to fall.

Then the guards appeared. They were completely encased in iron armor, charging like a group of monsters.

"I didn't think I'd have to meet Allah so soon."

Jia Dabi sighed faintly, then raised his scimitar, resolutely facing his fate, and his comrades did not flinch; everyone stood together just as steadfastly.

After the guards arrived, the battle ended quickly.

These people were originally the elite of Rostislav and Bulgar, and dealing with a group of disheveled assassins was easy for them.

No one escaped their slaughter. Whether it was Rostislav's personal retinue or Adam's guards, they were all angry. Their masters were attacked, and they were not present; what a dereliction of duty! So these attackers could only serve as punching bags to vent their anger.

So swords fell mercilessly, and arrows flew continuously. These attackers, who had just been fiercely besieging the Moscow Prince and the Bulgar Khan, now all became corpses.

As for Jia Dabi, he was struck in the head with a spiked mace from the start, red and white splattered everywhere, and the leader of the "Sword of Justice" died just like that.

Moreover, no one here knew he was the leader of the "Sword of Justice"; they all just considered him an ordinary rebel leader.

However, just as he thought, his death didn't matter, and it didn't even significantly affect his group.

The "Sword of Justice" had long completed its decentralization. They didn't need a center; each guerrilla unit would complete its own work and continue their resistance.

Seeing the arrival of the guards, Rostislav and Adam both felt relieved.

Rostislav's feeling was especially strong. To encounter such an exciting event just by going for a ride, it seemed this land was indeed "bidding him farewell."

As for Adam, he only felt the relief of surviving a disaster. It was his first time experiencing such a dangerous situation, unlike Rostislav, who had witnessed countless such events on the battlefield.

After a simple cleanup of the area and taking away the body of the leader, Jia Dabi, they left. There was nothing to investigate; it was just bad luck encountering a Bulgar guerrilla unit. As for the other bodies, nature would take care of them.

After all, in the end, this was just a small interlude. Although it almost cost the Khan and the Prince their lives, it was ultimately just an interlude.
