Raiven maintained his composure.
He wasn't going to let the domineering presence of the four other students in the room make him feel little.
He folded his arms, hardened his expression, and raised his head slightly, his eyes fixated on Klein who was seated in front of them with a gigantic smile on his face.
Klein adjusted his suit.
"Welcome! Great students of this prestigious academy!"
Klein was talking a little bit too loud, considering the fact that the table was the only demacation between him and the five students he was talking to.
He continued,
"The five of you awakened Disaster Rank Abilities, and I'm sure you all already know how big of a deal that is.
"In this academy, you will be taught and trained by professional teachers who already know the ins and outs of Soul Abilities. You wil-"
'I need to know more about my Soul Ability and what it can do,' Raiven thought.
Klein's voice was already drifting away as Raiven fell deeper into his thoughts.
'I wonder what Beast I'll summon first... Maybe a skeleton wolf? Or a skeleton dragon... Maybe?'
Since he was sure his Beast Summoning Soul Ability was related to the Necromancer's Legacy, he felt like any Beast he would summon would definitely be a skeleton.
That's what Beasts summoned through Necromancy looked like, right?
At this point, Klein's voice had already turned into a background noise.
It wasn't like Raiven was going to miss anything important, though.
He already knew what Klein was going to say.
For the next few minutes, he was going to keep on rambling about how prestigious the academy was and how the academy would train the five of them very well.
'They're obviously bored,' Klein thought, keeping up his smile as he stared at their faces.
Their expressions said it all.
They just wanted this to be over so they could leave.
Avin tapped his fingers against the armrest of his chair, his eyes fixated on the system screen.
[Kill the Necromancer.]
[Reward: The Truth.]
'The Necromancer, huh?' Avin thought, his fingers still tapping the armrest. 'There must be a way to know who this Necromancer is.'
He squinted his eyes. 'I already suspect someone, though.'
As for Raiven, he had already completely spaced out without even realizing it.
'I should be able to understand my Soul Ability before the Solo Hole Entry which is three days from now,' Raiven thought.
"Hey."
'I already know what my Soul Circuit is. It's quite a good one.'
"Hey."
'Three days should be enough to understand my Soul Abi-"
"Hey!"
Raiven finally snapped out of his thoughts.
His eyes instantly shot to the left and he was faced with Yenna who was staring back at him.
Her purple eyes were fixated on him, and her mischievous smile was still there.
'Shit. I spaced out...'
He noticed that the both of them were the only ones in the office, apart from Klein who was standing in front of one of the shelves, checking out some books.
He had been lost in his thoughts that he didn't even realize that Klein had dismissed them.
Raiven smiled again before speaking, "oh sorry, I just-"
"Spaced out," Yenna suddenly said, completing what he was about to say.
"It was obvious," she added as she leaned backwards.
It was now Raiven realized that she had been leaning forward all this time.
Raiven smiled wryly.
'Something about her makes me uncomfortable. I remember Avin had the same thought when he first spoke to her in the novel.'
A smirk formed on Yenna's lips.
"Your facial expression when you spaced out... It was really cute."
At this point, Raiven didn't know what to say.
But he didn't have to say anything because Yenna suddenly got up.
She walked behind the chair he was sitting on, her smirk still present.
She leaned forward, her lips just a few inches away from Raiven's ears.
And then, she whispered:
"We'll be in the same team for the joint hole entry. I'll be looking forward to it."
Immediately she said that, she walked out of the office, the scent of her perfume still lingering.
Raiven let out a sigh.
He got up and also walked out of the office.
"Yenna Langley... A character that even I am yet to understand," Raiven whispered to himself as he walked.
"In the novel, when the four of them who awakened Disaster Rank Soul Abilities were called by Klein like this, Yenna took a liking to Avin and told him this same thing she just told me..."
Raiven began walking towards the academy gate where he could already see his sister's car driving in.
"Things are already changing. Firstly, Avin awakened an unknown Soul Ability instead of the Fire Soul Ability. Secondly, I awakened a Disaster Rank Soul Ability instead of a shitty Soul Ability I was supposed to awaken.
And thirdly, Yenna spoke to me, instead of speaking to Avin."
Raiven couldn't believe it.
"Just my first day in this world, and things are already changing this much...?"
He finally stopped in front of the car.
It was the same sleek black car that brought him to the academy.
The door to the back seat opened and he entered inside.
As expected, Verah was inside.
As soon as he entered, the driver began driving out of the academy.
Verah stared at Raiven, her expression unreadable.
She exhaled deeply, and then...
"I told you not to awaken a useless Soul Ability, but I never knew you would surpass my expectations."
She let out a small smile before adding, "good job."
Raiven smiled back at her. He instantly felt a certain warmth in his chest.
He knew all the trouble the original Raiven had given her, so he was happy that he didn't let her down.
At least, he wanted his sister to be proud of him for something.
"Thank you, big sis."
******
Beep! Beep!
Klein stared at his beeping watch with a serious expression.
His brows were furrowed and his eyes were focused, showing that the person who was calling wasn't just an ordinary person.
Ahem!
He cleared his throat and finally, he pressed the answer button.
"Greetings, Mr Draka!" He said, trying to make his voice as cheerful as it could be.
A man's voice came from the other side.
"Is it true?"
"Yes sir," Klein replied, his voice a little less cheerful and a little more serious. "The boy awakened a Beast Summoning Ability, but I don't know what Beast he can summon."
There was a little pause from the man on the other side.
And then...
"Find out as soon as you can."
"Understood, Mr Draka!" Klein said.
As soon as the call ended...
"Ahhh....."
Klein let out a long breath.
He slumped on his table, his eyes squinted.
"Raiven Ashland... You would've awakened another Ability."
He got up and stared outside through his window.
"You might have just brought trouble upon yourself..."
