Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 Cut it off!

Perhaps it was due to the experience of successfully hunting large monsters, or perhaps it was because he had changed to a more powerful weapon.

When Gordon arrived at the Shuretsusen Hill Hunting Field again, he not only lacked the slight tension he had in the past, but instead felt a sense of ease, like a fish in water.

However, ultimately, the entire West Schurete region, including the mountain forest where he previously encountered the Great Wild Boar King, was merely the outer edge of the Shuretsusen Hill, which spans tens of thousands of square kilometers.

According to the instructor, the Northern Schurete region, centered around the "Ancient Schurete City Ruins," was the truly dangerous place—where countless Flying Wyvern species, and even more terrifying monsters, lived.

Gordon truly found it hard to imagine what monster could be more powerful than a dragon?

"Lord Gordon, meow!"

A sharp voice startled Gordon from his vacant thoughts; it was Zhu Pa, who had gone ahead to scout the surroundings, returning.

"I haven't found any traces of a Blue Velocidrome pack yet, meow, but there are some Herbivore Dragons wandering not far to the north. Should we go take a look, meow?"

Gordon touched the satchel behind his waist, which contained a few bottles of recovery medicine provided in the Hunter Camp supply box, as well as portable rations.

Leaving aside the recovery medicine for now, the quantity of portable rations was indeed a bit small; if he truly stayed in the Hunting Field for five days, these foods would not even be enough to fill his stomach.

As such, if he and Zhu Pa wanted to eat more and better, hunting some meat would be unavoidable.

"Let's go, we'll hunt a Herbivore Dragon first. While collecting more raw meat, the scent of blood might also attract the nearby Blue Velocidrome; those bandits have very keen noses."

Zhu Pa nodded his small head.

Those bad guys were indeed very sensitive to the smell of blood. In the past, after hunting prey with their kin, if they didn't deal with it promptly, Blue Velocidrome would quickly come to snatch the food, which was very annoying.

Following Zhu Pa, Gordon soon saw the group of Herbivore Dragons the latter had mentioned.

This was a small group consisting of eight Herbivore Dragons, including two young ones.

At this moment, these docile creatures, often captured by humans for meat or tamed as large livestock, were leisurely foraging for tender grass leaves, completely unaware of the approaching danger.

Gordon quietly approached with Zhu Pa.

He did not fix his gaze on the two young ones, even though the meat of the young ones was much more tender and delicious compared to the adults.

"Choose the old, not the young" was an unwritten rule among hunters; unless necessary, no one would violate it.

"You're the one."

Gordon chose an older member at the back of the Herbivore Dragon family as his target. After stealthily approaching to a sufficiently close distance, he decisively launched a surprise attack.

The startled Herbivore Dragons began to run, but unfortunately, their speed was not fast, at least not faster than Gordon.

He quickly arrived beside the chosen Herbivore Dragon, gripping the hilt with both hands, he simultaneously detached the Burst Blade from the hook behind him and swung it out.

The hook claws and sharp blade extended simultaneously.

"Swish!"

The Herbivore Dragon's head was, as expected, severed. Its keratinized skin and sturdy neck bones seemed no sturdier than a blade of straw in front of the Burst Blade's claw-blade.

It didn't even have time to feel pain before it was completely dead.

Ignoring the other Herbivore Dragons that were fleeing in panic, Gordon instructed Zhu Pa to be vigilant, then put away the Burst Blade, took out his skinning knife, and began to skin.

Large chunks of raw meat were cut off and placed to one side.

He didn't cut too much, only taking enough for a few days' consumption. After all, this trip wasn't specifically for hunting meat, and he still had to stay in the Hunting Field for several days. Too much raw meat would only rot and couldn't be taken back.

Looking at the disemboweled Herbivore Dragon carcass, which had a strong smell of blood, Gordon bowed, then took Zhu Pa and carried the raw meat back to the Hunting Camp first.

He believed that the Blue Velocidrome hidden in the jungle would not easily let go of this delicious meal.

The location was not too far from the Hunting Camp. By the time Gordon returned to place the raw meat and came back here, only about half an hour had passed.

However, even this short amount of time was enough for those forest bandits to arrive and "attend the feast."

Bright skin mottled with light and dark blue, long and powerful hind limbs and a long tail, a bird-like keratinized beak, and a brightly colored red crest.

These were the "path-blocking bandits" most hated by merchant caravans—the Blue Velocidrome.

"One, two, three, a total of three. Not much trouble. Zhu Pa, pay attention to the surrounding environment and decide the timing of your actions yourself."

After a simple instruction, Gordon stepped forward and charged.

He didn't give Zhu Pa too many commands, but rather wanted to see what Zhu Pa would do.

Hunting Cats of different personalities would have distinctly different behavioral patterns. Zhu Pa's performance over the next few days would directly determine their future mode of cooperation.

After a brief moment of hesitation, Zhu Pa also scurried after him on all fours.

It chose to fight alongside him.

Gordon's lips curled slightly, and he confidently entrusted his back to it.

The three Blue Velocidrome, who were leaping around the Herbivore Dragon carcass, also noticed these two "uninvited guests" who had come to steal their food. They raised their heads and let out two sharp, bird-like cries, attempting to scare them away.

Gordon and his companion naturally wouldn't retreat so easily, and the distance between the two sides further narrowed.

Feeling provoked, a more aggressive Blue Velocidrome shrieked again, its long, powerful hind limbs pushing off the ground, and its razor-sharp claws, using the force of its leap, kicked towards Gordon's vital throat.

He had personally witnessed a Blue Velocidrome use such an Attack Up to directly break a Herbivore Dragon's cervical spine, killing it in one blow.

If this kick landed, with the Hunter Set's minimal defensive capabilities, it might not be able to withstand it.

But, was defense what he was considering now?

Gordon grinned, his excitement palpable.

The hand encased within the wrist guard gripped the Great Sword hilt tightly. Just as the Blue Velocidrome's sharp claws were about to strike, he stepped forward heavily, and the Burst Blade, with its instantly extended hook claws, tore through the air, carrying a terrifying force as it slashed vertically downwards.

This was a full-power slash, completely different from the one used to hunt the Herbivore Dragon earlier!

The heavy steel blade accurately collided with the leaping Blue Velocidrome in mid-air. The Burst Blade paused slightly under the impact from the Blue Velocidrome.

Then, amidst the sound of tearing flesh and bone, it continued to swing in a perfect arc, violently smashing the Blue Velocidrome, which had instantly turned into a corpse, onto the ground.

Shattered organs, bones, muscles, and blood splattered everywhere, the stench of blood was nauseating.

Cut in two!

The remaining two Blue Velocidrome were clearly startled by this bloody scene.

Their ready-to-charge stances froze, and their gazes towards the steel blade were filled with caution and apprehension, even their hissing sounds lacked the former confidence.

They were afraid.

Even Gordon himself was slightly stunned by the horrific scene of flesh and blood splattering.

But he quickly realized that the battle was not over. Casually shaking off the blood and bone fragments from the Burst Blade, Gordon's gaze locked onto the remaining two Blue Velocidrome.

Learning from the first Blue Velocidrome's lesson, the other two Blue Velocidrome abandoned their leaping Attack Up and cautiously approached Gordon, one in front and one behind.

Because the Great Sword was very heavy, Gordon's speed was noticeably reduced while wielding it with both hands.

He also knew that the Great Sword did not win by speed, so he slowed his pace, vigilantly watching the remaining two Blue Velocidrome, waiting for the opportune moment to strike.
