Sonia was indeed very famous. From being a nobody to a figure that even those from aristocratic families looked up to.
As people who came from humble backgrounds, they relate very well to her as someone who was nearly their age and a woman on top of that. The three only had worship for her.
Listening to the wonderful deeds of that woman, Harrison was stunned and started to understand why the people were reacting like that.
"Moreover, she is very famous for one thing. They call her the cursed witch. She had been married and divorced three times so far!"
"Don't forget that she got remarried just earlier today!"
"Oh! There is that."
This time, that information baffled Harrison.
That was the first time he was learning of such a bold woman who married so much when young. Wasn't she afraid of what people said?
"But why is she here?" Harrison couldn't help but ask.
As a busy CEO wasn't she supposed to be working or at home by now unless she was meeting with friends? But what kind of friends did she have?
After all, he had never bumped into her at any event he had attended.
It was Willy's time to laugh when he heard that.
Nic lazily leaned on the couch, watching Harrison with interest and Paul was the one to answer, "This is her playground. If you see her here, it means that her gang is around!"
Now that sparked Harrison's interest.
"Her gang?"
"Um. Her friends. They are like us. Been with her for a long time and oh ….. her ex-husbands are part of that gang as well!"
Talking about her ex-husbands, the group of friends started gossiping like women. It was quite unusual to see a woman being so close to her ex-husbands, and them being friends and adding their current wives. It was simply too unreal, but it was happening.
"Huh, can you share with me what's wrong with these people?" Harrison found it too unbelievable. He was curious to hear about the whole story, setting aside his own worries.
The guys not in a hurry to go anywhere, didn't mind sharing this familiar story with their ignorant friend. Who knows when he might bump into her and embarrass himself?
"So, let's start from the beginning ... Sonia came from a middle-class family. Her parents ran a restaurant until one day it went under. Her father was hospitalized, and it was tough for everyone. She had just graduated from university and was forced to take on the business, but it never worked out."
"Are you saying that the business went bankrupt for real with her managing it?"
"Yep. She lost the restaurant and I guess it could have been a huge blow for her. After all, she was still young, but what I liked about her was that she never gave up.
Although she didn't reopen the restaurant, she worked all kinds of jobs she could find to take care of her family.
Years passed, and she rose up once again. She opened her first restaurant and brought unique recipes and beverages only found in her restaurant. It caused a lot of sensation. Anyway, instead of simply relying on the restaurant, she started ...…"
The three friends took turns narrating the story of the business while leaving the relationships to the side. Once they were done, Harrison was simply in awe.
If he had received such a blow, he wouldn't have made it the way she did. She was a true female warrior.
"As for her marriages and divorces. The myth is ... she is cursed. And she is cursed because every man she marries ends up divorcing her in three months. These men, after leaving her, would find their true love.
As we are speaking right now, these three ex-husbands still have the women they got together with after divorcing her. They now have children, all of them, but as funny as it sounds, the six of them are friends with her.
It's still baffling what exactly this whole thing is, but anyway, that's the truth."
Harrison once again was shocked. Could someone have such bad luck like that?
"If that's the case, why did she get remarried? Is she not afraid of history repeating itself?"
"Hehe, that's why people are betting how long the fourth husband will last."
"I just want to know which lucky bastard managed to melt the heart of that icy queen!" Paul sighed as he pictured Sonia in his mind.
"You are not alone!"
The four of them gossiped for a while about Sonia before remembering that they all gathered because of Harrison and he hadn't shared what was going on with him exactly. So, they attacked him, wanting answers.
Harrison also remembered the matter and suddenly found himself in a funny situation.
Did he just enjoy a piece of gossip to the extent of forgetting his own stress?
He was going to look more into Sonia. She was an interesting woman.
Nonetheless, he didn't keep his friends waiting and shared his story.
"This morning, I received a guest at the company," he said sighingly, recalling that infuriating woman.
"Hehe, tell us about it!" the guys were eager to hear the gossip.
"You know Queen Rivers?"
"Who doesn't know her?"
"Talking about Queen, I just recalled something," suddenly Paul said with a glint of amusement in his eyes as he looked at Harrison.
Upon hearing that, Harrison's curiosity was piqued. "What about her?" was there more to her that he didn't know?
Paul smiled playfully as he twirled his wineglass. "She is Sonia's best friend. If Sonia is here, it means that she is here as well! Now tell me, why did that sly fox come to your office today?"
Upon hearing that, Harrison had an explosion in his head as he tried to connect some dots.
Could it be that Queen came to his place for Liam under Sonia's instructions or was it someone else?
Or could it be Liam was the one with the connections?
Not finding an answer, he decided to tell his story first and perhaps he would find an answer that he wanted.
Harrison then narrated the story as it happened and the more the guys listened, the more, they had suspicions like Harrison.
"Queen isn't an easy person to get along with. Considering that she came to your place, it was serious."
"You don't know how scared I was when she was sitting across from me. I am just curious about who sent her, though. I don't believe that Liam could afford her. He just got out of the hospital. There is no way!"
"Then who could be his sponsor?"
"Do you want to look into it?" Nic suggested, but Harrison shook his head and refused.
"I don't want to offend Queen. My dad called me and scolded me for more than twenty minutes after knowing that Queen came to the office. Imagine if I were to look into her clients. What would happen?"
Moreover, since Liam wasn't bringing in any income so far, why risk it?
Seeing that he didn't want to look further despite his curiosity, the friends didn't bother to urge him. After all, they were pretty aware of how formidable Queen was. She was pretty much notorious and well-known.
