"Rachel, explain," Annabel ordered. Her voice surprisingly calm, which probably was bad news.
'Deja vu,' Rachel thought. They had the same conversation just last week. Back then the Senior Assistant tried to bring a more measured perspective to Mrs. Thorne, who was acting rather hysterically. This time, she returned to the Mansion as an utter failure. Her junior, Kirsten, stood motionless next to her, ready to accept any reprimand or punishment that may come her way.
It was unfair. Rachel knew better than anyone how hard Kirsten tried.
"Mrs. Thorne, everything was my fault," Levine admitted.
"I'm not trying to determine whose fault it was," the lady spoke, "What exactly happened?"
Rachel took in a deep breath and started.
"We observed that Master Micky was having some trouble. We didn't exactly know what it was, but I decided that it was an emergency situation that we had to intervene," the Senior took the responsibility.
