Chapter 49 - Chapter 48 – Sunlight After the Storm

The school rooftop was quiet, save for the faint rustle of the breeze. The afternoon sun spilled golden across the concrete, soft and warm, the air fresh with the scent of spring.

Ryuzí stood by the railing, his hands gripping the cool metal, his chest tight. His bag lay forgotten at his feet.

It's over, he thought. Exams are done. No more silence. No more distance.

His heart pounded harder than it had during any test. He hadn't realized how much he'd been waiting for this moment, how much the days of quiet had eaten at him.

The door creaked open behind him.

"Ryuuuziii~!"

The voice was sunshine itself.

He turned.

Suki bounded across the rooftop, messy hair catching the light, his grin wide despite the tiredness still etched on his face. His arms spread as if he were about to tackle him in a hug.

Ryuzí's chest tightened painfully. "…Id—" He caught himself, lips trembling. "…Suki."

And then, Suki was in his arms.

The hug was desperate, tight, almost crushing. Suki buried his face against Ryuzí's chest, his arms wrapping around him with no intention of letting go.

"I missed you," Suki murmured, his voice muffled. "So much."

Ryuzí's throat closed. His own arms tightened around him, holding him close. "…Me too."

They stood like that for what felt like forever, the silence around them filled only by their breathing and the pounding of their hearts.

When Suki finally pulled back, his grin was watery, his eyes glistening. "We survived."

Ryuzí's lips curved faintly. "…Barely."

Suki laughed softly, then paused. His gaze lingered, his smile fading into something tender.

Ryuzí felt his breath catch. The space between them seemed to shrink without either moving.

And then Suki leaned up, closing the gap.

The first kiss was soft, tentative, a gentle press of lips. A sigh of relief. A question.

Ryuzí's hand rose, cupping the back of Suki's head, his fingers tangling in his messy hair. The kiss deepened, slow and careful, the taste of longing melting into sweetness.

When they broke apart, Suki's cheeks were flushed, his eyes bright. He laughed breathlessly. "God, I missed this."

Ryuzí's chest ached. "…Idiot." His voice trembled. "…I missed it too."

Suki's grin wobbled. "Then don't stop."

Ryuzí didn't.

The second kiss was hungrier, lips parting, breaths mingling. Their mouths moved desperately, like they were making up for every second of distance, every silent day apart.

Suki's hands fisted in Ryuzí's shirt, pulling him closer. Ryuzí's arm wrapped firmly around his waist, anchoring him.

The rooftop blurred away. There was only heat, only lips pressing harder, only tongues brushing in messy, unsteady rhythm.

Suki gasped into the kiss, his voice breaking. "Ryuzí—"

Ryuzí growled softly, chasing his mouth again. "…Don't talk."

Suki shivered, melting against him.

They broke apart at last, panting, foreheads pressed together. Ryuzí's thumb brushed over Suki's swollen lips, his chest heaving.

"…You're impossible," he whispered.

Suki grinned faintly, though his breath shook. "…And you love me for it."

Ryuzí didn't argue. Instead, he kissed him again — slower this time, lingering, savoring.

Every kiss was different: soft, needy, playful, desperate. Each one carried a different truth they hadn't been able to say out loud.

I missed you.I need you.Don't leave me again.

Eventually, Suki pulled back just enough to whisper, "Hey, honey?"

Ryuzí groaned softly. "…Not here."

"Yes here," Suki teased, brushing his nose against his. "I want the whole rooftop to hear."

Ryuzí muttered, "…You're insane."

Suki's smile softened. "Insane about you."

Ryuzí's face burned, but his heart swelled. He kissed him again, hard enough to shut him up.

When they finally sat down on the bench, their fingers laced together, Suki leaned his head on Ryuzí's shoulder with a happy sigh.

"…This is perfect."

Ryuzí glanced at him, his lips twitching faintly. "…It is."

They sat in silence, watching the clouds drift.

But as the minutes stretched, the air grew heavier. The kisses still tingled on their lips, the warmth still buzzed under their skin.

Suki tilted his head up, eyes glimmering. "…Wanna come over?"

Ryuzí stiffened. His throat went dry. "…Your house?"

Suki's grin turned sly, his voice lowering. "No. Yours."

Ryuzí's chest clenched. Heat crawled up his neck. "…Why mine?"

"Because." Suki leaned close, brushing his lips over his ear. "I want to see where you hide when you're not with me. And maybe… we could keep going."

Ryuzí's breath hitched. He swallowed hard, his pulse racing. "…You're ridiculous."

Suki laughed softly, kissing his cheek. "And you want me anyway."

Ryuzí muttered, "…Yeah. I do."

They didn't say more. They didn't need to.

Hand in hand, they walked down the stairs, the rooftop door closing softly behind them. The promise hung in the air between them, unspoken but clear.

Exams were over. Distance was over.

And tonight, at Ryuzí's house, something new was about to begin.
