Chapter 6 - The Ice Dragon vs. the Martial Spirit Masters

Chapter Six: The Ice Dragon vs. the Martial Spirit Masters

As the Martial Spirit Masters spread out to surround the small dragon—unaware of another dragon nearby—the Masters themselves failed to notice a second ice dragon, identical in appearance but about five meters long, watching them from a nearby hill. Its blue eyes blazed with unprecedented fury, and its intentions were deadly.

After five minutes, the Martial Spirit Master had taken their positions, ready to attack. All they were waiting for now was the arrival of the Martial Spirit Master who carried the sixth spirit pearl—the one who was not only the strongest among them but also the most experienced in handling spirit beasts.

With cautious steps, they prepared to strike. Suddenly, Master Li felt a strange sensation. He quickly glanced around, trying to locate the source, but saw nothing unusual.

At that moment, a deafening roar erupted from the nearby hill, causing the ice beneath their feet to tremble. Everyone turned in fear, only to see another ice dragon—much larger than the one they had targeted.

The new dragon was far more terrifying, reaching five meters in length, its glowing blue eyes radiating lethal rage.

Master Li shouted in shock, "Impossible! That ice dragon is no less than three thousand years old!"

They had no time to think. The larger dragon lunged toward them at lightning speed, opening its maw to unleash a deadly storm of ice shards and crystals upon the group.

Master Li cried, "Watch out! Retreat immediately!"

But the attack was faster than they anticipated. Before they could respond, the storm engulfed the entire area, making escape nearly impossible.

This moment marked the beginning of an uneven battle, where survival depended not only on strength but also on luck and unwavering will.

Master Li shouted, "Fifth Spirit Skill: Spears of Ice!"

He immediately unleashed his attack, as it was the only long-range skill available to him.

Yet, he wasn't afraid of targeting the smaller white dragon directly; the true strength of this dragon lay in its speed and its control over the ice element, not in its defensive power.

However, its defenses were already approaching the level of spirit beasts over six thousand years old, so it was unlikely to sustain any serious damage from the initial strike.

To ensure the success of the operation, Master Li called for support from the rest of the group, even risking the life of the smaller dragon in order to create a chance for survival.

"Ice-Skating Technique."

"Flying Spear Technique."

Another Martial Spirit Master cried out, "The Ice Arrow that Pierces Mountains!"

He formed a glowing ice bow and fired a precise arrow toward the dragon.

And just as the attacks began, the white dragon suddenly awoke.

What stunned the Martial Spirit Masters was that the dragon did not attempt to flee from the raging ice storm that engulfed the area, nor did it even glance at its attackers.

As the basic skills drew closer and began breaking through the icy tempest, the Martial Spirit Masters started to feel that something was off—that things were not as they seemed.

The great white dragon absorbed the attacks completely, all while carefully shielding the smaller dragon.

The only one who noticed the dragon's movement before the others was the Six-Pearled Martial Spirit Master—the oldest and most experienced among them. However, before he could warn the group, he sensed a mortal danger approaching from behind.

Without hesitation, he activated his core skill: "Ice Shield," doubling his defense for half an hour. Yet even that was not enough, as a massive ice spike pierced through his body from beneath the snow.

He was fortunate enough to survive, but the rest of the group was not so lucky.

The Five-Pearled Martial Spirit Master felt something was wrong just moments before the strike, but he wasn't fast enough to avoid the sudden blow. An icy spike tore through his body from behind, shattering his pelvis and bursting out through his stomach.

As for the remaining Martial Spirit Masters, who reacted too late, they were struck by similar attacks—ice spikes pierced through them before they could even sense the danger.

"Aaahhh!"

Screams erupted simultaneously from three directions, but moments later, silence fell. Around them, smaller ice spikes emerged from the ground, reducing the Martial Spirit Masters into lifeless corpses.

At the sight of this scene, the face of the Martial Spirit Master turned pale instantly.

Only an exceptionally powerful spirit beast could wipe out three Martial Spirit Masters in such a short time.

As Master Li pondered deeply on how to protect the young master, the icy storm finally cleared, revealing a terrifying sight.

There stood a massive ice dragon, five meters tall, looming with majestic presence as it shielded the smaller dragon beneath its broad wings.

Its body shimmered as though covered in crystalline ice scales, and its eyes blazed with fury and murderous intent.

Master Li spoke in a trembling voice, "An Ice Dragon… more than five thousand years old…"

Even the smallest ice dragon, a thousand years old, was considered rare and incredibly swift—matching the speed of spirit beasts over ten thousand years old, though not their strength. But the greater ice dragon before them now was one of the most powerful spirit beasts, at a truly legendary level.

Master Li muttered to himself, "A five-thousand-year-old Ice Dragon can contend with spirit beasts ten thousand years old or more… I don't stand a chance against it."

Before he could even decide whether to flee, the massive dragon lunged forward at lightning speed. Master Li had no choice but to fight; his speed was nowhere near enough to escape. Moreover, the dragon's eyes radiated lethal resolve, making survival seem almost impossible.

With a desperate cry, Master Li roared, "Ice Barrier! Frost Scales Technique!"

With a thunderous roar, he unleashed all the energy he had left, empowering his spirit skills. His body became encased in a thick layer of icy scales, forming a sturdy shield around him, before he charged forward in a final, desperate attempt to strike the dragon.

Within three seconds, Master Li had closed the distance to barely five meters. Just as he prepared to deliver his last blow, the dragon suddenly swung its massive tail and struck him head-on.

Master Li was flung through the air for more than thirty meters before crashing violently to the ground. Though he managed with great difficulty to stand, he began coughing violently, blood spilling from his mouth.

On the surface, it seemed as though he hadn't suffered severe wounds, but his internal injuries were catastrophic. Several ribs had shattered, puncturing his lungs, making every breath agonizing and labored.

He realized that his chances of survival were nearly zero, and so he steeled himself for one final, suicidal attack. Barely able to remain on his feet, he tried to gather his strength—but before he could execute his plan, the dragon's tail shot forth like lightning, piercing straight through his chest.

His final moments bore witness to the ferocity and overwhelming might of the dragon, which stood triumphantly, unrivaled and untouched by any foe.
