"These are the scales we found. Norman, what have you discovered?"
Norman Osborn was taking samples from these scales and testing them.
Because it was an unexpected operation, the equipment in the car was not particularly advanced; it was all old, ordinary research equipment.
Evidently, these old instruments, which few people at the university were willing to use, caused Norman Osborn some distress. These instruments simply couldn't help him determine the owner of the scales.
Putting down the test tube in his hand, Norman Osborn sighed and said,
"I haven't found anything. These instruments are really too poor; I can't conduct any further research."
After speaking, Norman Osborn walked towards Coulson. He needed to take a piece of the scale back to the laboratory; only there could he thoroughly research it.
Ethan stared intently at the scales.
He swore to God he had seen such giant scales before.
That was when he was very young, when he moved to Los Angeles with his parents.
While tidying up the house, he found a beautifully crafted short sword inlaid with gems. His father was very happy, thinking that if he sold this short sword, he could redecorate their new home.
His father took him to an antique shop.
The antique shop had many seemingly precious items. Various exquisite carpets hung on racks, and many scroll paintings were placed in jars.
He walked back and forth in the antique shop, observing everything he had never seen before.
His father was constantly telling the antique shop owner a story he had just made up on the way there.
In a corner of the antique shop, he saw an unlocked red box. In the sunlight, it looked like treasure hidden in a cave.
Just as he approached the box, it suddenly opened by itself, startling him.
Hearing the sound, his father shouted at him, "Ethan! Don't touch things here randomly."
Then he said to the owner, "This is my father's most cherished short sword. If you offer eight hundred—no, if you offer one thousand, I'll sell you this sword."
But the young him saw an incredible scene: inside the box was a giant scale, emitting a mysterious light from its surface.
After a burst of bright light, the flagpole leaning against the wall fell to the ground, and the mysterious light also disappeared.
"Ethan! Don't—Owner, what's wrong with you?"
His father shouted at him again, but this time he was interrupted by the shop owner.
The antique shop owner was clutching his chest, looking pained.
"Sir, could you help me buy some medicine from the herbal shop two streets away? My chest feels tight and very uncomfortable right now."
"W-what?" The antique shop owner's sudden illness made his father a bit confused, so he didn't hear clearly.
The owner gasped for air, his face filled with pain.
"I'll take your sword. I'll give you three thousand. Here's eight hundred as a deposit. Please help me buy some medicine from the herbal shop two streets away. The owner there is my friend; he knows what medicine I need. Go quickly, go!"
His father took the money and called Ethan to look after the owner.
"Ethan, I'm going to buy medicine. You stay here and take care of the owner."
After saying that, his father turned and ran out of the antique shop.
The moment his father left, the owner acted as if nothing was wrong, hugging him and telling him a story.
Five hundred years ago,
there was a terrifying monster army. They were invincible on the battlefield, and no defense could stop them for a moment.
This army flattened countless cities along the way, aiming directly for the capital.
In the capital, a beautiful girl lived in a temple. With her beloved warrior, she roamed around carefree.
She was the target of the monster army because she had a magical Dragon Orb inside her.
The Master behind the monster army, an evil giant serpent named Bunaki, coveted this Dragon Orb because only by obtaining it could he become a powerful Dragon and rule the World.
To prevent Bunaki from getting the Dragon Orb and ruling the World, the girl and the warrior fled the temple and jumped off a cliff together to commit suicide.
Bunaki, furious and crazed at not getting the Dragon Orb, destroyed the capital and went into hiding with his army.
Waiting for the reincarnation of the two.
And he, Ethan Canrick,
was the warrior in the story.
Because only the warrior could activate the light of the scale in the box, which was a scale left by a righteous giant serpent named Imoji.
After telling the story, the owner also gave him a necklace, telling him to protect the girl's reincarnation and not let Bunaki succeed.
That necklace is now in his bedside table.
"Ethan? Hey! What's wrong with you?"
Seeing Ethan standing there motionless, Andy waved his hand in front of him to get his attention.
"Oh! I'm fine. So these are the scales you found? Wow, that must be a big one."
Coming back to his senses, Ethan pretended to be fine and exclaimed in surprise at the scales.
"The army of demons is about to appear. The black giant serpent will bring destruction. Pack your bags and flee from here; this place will become a battlefield."
An old man stood near the cordon, shouting wildly.
"Justice and evil will converge here, do you hear? Flee from here quickly, and never return."
The old man kept warning the onlookers.
Andy found it novel; the old man's words sounded exactly like an ancient prophecy.
Ethan heard the old man's words, thanked Andy, and left without looking back.
He needed to go back and investigate what exactly was going on.
In the past, he had always thought that the story the antique shop owner told him was just a story, and the necklace was merely a gift from the owner.
But the current situation was exactly like the story: the unknown creature that left the black giant scales was speculated by experts to be a giant snake, and the white scales in his memory were clearly visible.
The old man's words kept echoing in Ethan's ears.
The giant serpent, the Dragon Orb, and the girl he was destined to protect—these things gave Ethan a headache.
"I'm going back. I need to test this scale using special instruments in the laboratory."
After talking with Coulson, Norman Osborn held a silver box in his hand, which Andy had seen before—it was the briefcase Coulson used to hold the scales.
Andy hadn't found anything significant here, so he decided to return to New York with Norman Osborn.
Military Base.
Osborn and Orokin jointly demonstrated their research results on super soldiers to the Military. Since it was just a demonstration, the two Masters didn't need to operate it themselves.
The two sat at a table with drinks and started chatting.
"Guess what I found in the scales? You'd never guess."
Norman Osborn was visibly excited, his enthusiasm overflowing.
Andy's brows furrowed. Normally, Norman Osborn was a very calm person; his current excitement must mean he had found something important in the scales.
Without waiting for Andy to answer, Norman Osborn eagerly began,
"The scales contain a large amount of special substance. It's why that monster could grow so huge, and I've found that these substances can cure my family's hereditary disease."
Andy raised an eyebrow in surprise, not expecting that such giant scales would be the life-saving cure for the Osborn Family's hereditary disease.
"I will continue to monitor information about this monster. As long as it appears, no matter how difficult, I will capture it."
Norman Osborn, with the light of hope rekindled in his eyes, seemed to have found new vitality.
Putting his arm around Norman Osborn's shoulder, Andy solemnly said, "Don't worry, Norman, I'll help you."
Loud applause erupted in the Military Base.
General Ross, shaking both their hands, was flushed with excitement.
Norman's Human Enhancement Drug, while unable to push soldiers to their physical limits, had the immense advantage of being mass-producible.
Andy's four stimulants had a significant effect and could effectively assist soldiers in combat.
The research of both achieved complete success.
General Ross, on behalf of the Military, placed an order, and both Osborn and Orokin companies made a fortune.
