Chapter 24 - THE XERIDIANS

They called themselves the Xeridians. They mostly resembled humans, only that they had glazed skin and purple eyes. They were much taller and more built than humans. Their regular militants, which the humans categorized as acolytes, were much stronger than regular awakened. They had red skin.

The lieutenants had deep red skin and had the power between ascended and apex level beings. The majors had white skin; they were categorized as suppressors. The generals had black skin and had the power of transcendence level beings, and the last were the 9 elders. They had gold skin and were at the level of supreme beings.

Three decades ago, at the edge of galaxy Stellar Nexus (human-conquered galaxy), on a high-tier futuristic planet named Helios, 100 spaceships and a mothership huge like a country appeared. The people were panicking. The planet was owned by the all-powerful Axion Guild.

Of course, immediately the transcendence beings responded to the threat, coupled with numerous ascended, apex, and suppressors. Awakened would only serve as cannon fodder, so they helped the civilians get to safety.

The Xeridians appeared out of space portals more advanced than the humans. The reason the Axion guild knew the spaceships were a threat was because they knew no other guild would dare barge into one of their most high-valued planets like that. There were about 100 transcendence beings on ground, so who would dare?

First the 9 elders with gold skin and wearing arcane armour appeared. They were followed by dozens of black-skinned warriors also wearing armour and battle weapons.

"Humans, surrender yourselves and follow our path. We promise to rule you with justice, but you shall destroy your false idols and worship the only God," the leading elder, who looked to be a male, said.

This caused anger to the humans, especially the Axion family who were proud. How dare they tell them to surrender. Present on the planet was Axion's heir who had just become a supreme being. His father placed him here to monitor things on this planet.

The young lad burst into a streak of light and appeared 1 mile away from the elders. His lightning aura was violent and could destroy a whole continent if he waved his hands. That was the power of a supreme-level being.

After a few moments of silence he said, "No, how will I, Sam Axion, bow down to you. Arrange the ships and prepare for battle." His voice boomed, almost shattering the eardrums of the civilians.

"Fine, have it your way. We give you 2 days to prepare," the leading elder said. Sam frowned as he called back his men. Following the two days, the war broke out. Beams flew in the sky, spaceships outside Helios dodging and shooting down one another. The battle was intense and brutal. Within a month planet Helios was flattened.

Billions of civilians died. Only about 2 billion people, including the Axion guild and numerous powerful people, escaped on one of the Axion's motherships. Of course, the escapade was filled with battle after battle across space.

Unfortunately Sam Axion, to whom humans called their hero, died in battle. He fought 3 elders and was severely injured. But he died after giving an elder a life-threatening injury.

After they escaped, not only Axion but all of humanity were enraged. The 10 powerful guilds, including the military, beat back the invaders. The war lasted 20 years.

The more the war went on the more humans' technology became advanced. During the war at least 3 trillion people lost their lives while 60 percent were civilians. Even the Xeridians suffered greatly, losing 800 billion of its troops. It was known as the War of the Black Death.

Although the Xeridians had impregnable defense on their galaxy named Elyrian Starweave, their troops on the attacking side were severely weakened. So the Xeridians retreated after forming a peace pact. At first the Axions disagreed, but when they made calculations they saw that they couldn't last for another 2 years.

Then they made a deal: all formerly seized planets were to be returned back to humans. Also the two wouldn't enter each other's galaxy. Anyone who breaks the rules would be killed with no mercy.

Finally, the humans returned to peace. Planet Helios, the futuristic city, was rebuilt under 5 years and was now a home planet of 300 billion people. Galaxy Stellar Nexus defenses had also increased. But still the military and other guilds agreed on rebuilding the army.

They developed AI (artificial intelligence), robotic warriors capable of killing an acolyte Xeridian, mech suits, armored suited spaceships with powerful weapons mounted on it. They also discovered a mineral called delirium. It was much stronger than steel powered by beast soul core. It was comparable to a sacred soul armour.

These minerals were found on numerous asteroids billions of miles in the east of galaxy Stellar Nexus. Each asteroid was as big as Mount Everest. There were thousands of them scattered about like dust.

With the new mineral, although it was hard to forge, they were able to make the spaceships' armour more formidable. Not only that, the minerals exhibited aura that could be used as powerful energy beams.

After refining their weapons the military multiplied, more and more young awakened joined. The military had about 500 military schools which trained millions of young awakened.

Ethan was planning on joining one of the military schools in his past life. But because he didn't meet the requirements he was not admitted. The requirements were usually strict. Of course the 500 military schools were top notch. Each school was headed by generals who were powerful transcendence being
