Ethan wiped his sweat as he had just finished cleaning the damaged canteen. Afterward, he went in to check on his mother and spend quality time with her. Next, he went to the canteen to get food supplies for tonight's dinner. He wanted to surprise his little sister with a quality dish. He remembered that in his last life, although he didn't know how to cook, his sister liked to eat the bun he prepared for her.
After buying everything, he went to a house dealership and bought a nice apartment near a popular beach. The apartment was well-furnished and it had 3 master bedrooms, a parlor, and a nice kitchen. It also came with a spare room about 50 cubic feet. There was a nice garage that could hold 3 vehicles. Ethan spent 80 million ace coins on the house.
After selling the earthly and mutant soul core, he got 11 million ace coins. Together with his 101 million ace coins, he had a total of 112 million ace coins. Now he had just spent 82 million and was left with 30 million ace coins.
The next day, Ethan continued training his Star Sword Technique Level 2 after completing today's daily quest. But every time he tried to practice it he always made mistakes, just like when he trained Level 1.
"Well, this is going to take months," he sighed.
[name: Ethan Sylvester]
[aspect: space and time]
[rank: half awakened level 7 — 150/800 exp]
[attributes: strength 40, agility 22, stamina 32, speed 41, mana 20]
He still had a long way to go. At the very least, he wanted to be a real awakened before he entered military school.
[congratulations you have gained 30 exp and 2 stat points]
Ethan had just finished his early morning training. Today he and his family were packing out of the slum. At first, his mom argued with him about how he got so much money. He had to come up with a lie that he hunted and defeated a sacred soul beast.
After much bantering they moved in. The house was nice and cozy, and the environment was clean and silent unlike the slums. He bought a good restaurant at Harper's Center for 50 million ace coins—he loaned the remaining. Well, he didn't have to worry much since he would be getting tons of cash now.
Three days later Ethan's stats had increased significantly.
[rank: half awakened level 7 — 400/800 exp]
[attributes: strength 45, agility 25, stamina 35, speed 45]
Ethan was satisfied with his stats. At least he could beat most awakened with ease, as long as he didn't encounter one with a strange aspect.
"Well, I guess it's time for a dungeon raid—"
Immediately he finished his sentence, his phone rang. He looked at his cell and sighed. This girl again. She had been calling him for the past 3 days now but he just didn't have time.
After contemplating for a bit, he sighed and picked up the call.
"Hello, who is—"
"How dare you ignore my call! Do you know that I can send my father's men to come fetch you at home?" Gloria cut in before he could speak.
"I have been busy. I don't have time," Ethan said calmly.
"Didn't you say you need money? I will pay you 10 million per month if you become my bodyguard," she said.
"I'm afraid I have to turn down the offer. I am preparing for military school," Ethan said calmly. He wanted to destroy the military for murdering his father, so he had to join them.
"What are you going to do there anyway? You can earn better and fare better as a bodyguard than be a soldier who will die a meaningless death," Gloria said.
"Everyone dies in the end. I only want mine to be glorious, like Sam Axion—not by guarding a spoiled girl in a Tier 2 dungeon," Ethan said.
"Fine then, you can go. Don't consider coming to me next time," Gloria said, anger in her voice.
"What about if I fix it on weekends? How much do you want to pay me?" Ethan asked. This surprised Gloria, and she quickly promised him 500k for weekends.
"It's done then," Ethan said.
"Nah nah, you have to sign a contract before I employ you. I don't want a rogue employee," she said.
"You can send it later," Ethan replied.
"No, meet me at Snow's 5-Star Restaurant tonight at 8 p.m.," she said.
"Ok, I will," Ethan agreed as he cut the call.
This was a good deal. Although he would soon be getting more money from selling beast cores, he wanted to join her as a bodyguard. Reason being that her family was close to the Brotherhood—her father owned a corporation under them. With that, Ethan would be able to watch them closely. Maybe even find their weak spot.
It was already 8 p.m. in the night. Ethan dressed casually, nothing too fancy. Then he told his mom where he was going and ordered a cab. It took some time before it arrived.
After a while, he arrived at the location. Ethan came down, looking at the luxurious 3-story building with a fancy signboard: Snow's 5-Star Restaurant. Ethan looked calm. In his former life he and his colleagues used to come here to enjoy evening meals at night, so it was nothing new to him.
He could see rich and affluent people around the entrance. It was normal. To come here you must be a VIP, as this place was owned by the Brotherhood High Table. Even the ticket to enter was something the poor couldn't afford even if they worked for 5 years.
