Chapter 101 - The Replaced Contract

So Valeria came here for this purpose?

Speaking of which, Susan frowned. "I haven't arranged anything for you yet. After all, I can't be sure whether your intentions here are the same as your brother Franklin's. If your heart is filled with malice toward this world…"

"I'm a mind developer. I know very clearly what I should and shouldn't do. I know that with my brother Franklin's intelligence, he could never contend with Chen Xi."

When Valeria mentioned Chen Xi's name, her cheeks flushed slightly for a moment, but she quickly returned to her usual composure.

"If you're worried about my age, don't be. I'm already an adult—20 years old. Besides, I've accomplished a lot and conducted extensive research. I believe with my abilities, I can lead this world across multiple technological advancements."

Valeria spoke with confidence, not arrogance.

Her words nearly convinced Susan immediately.

A voice within Susan told her that everything this girl, Valeria, said was true. She wasn't lying—she could genuinely accomplish everything she claimed.

"Regardless, I can't make a decision on this matter alone."

"Then at least give me some time. Even if it's just briefly mentioning me to your leader, it's better than me waiting here aimlessly."

"Everyone's time is valuable. If I don't find a suitable position soon, I might starve."

At this, Valeria smiled at Susan. "Whenever my brother gets angry, he always leaves me behind, and I've almost spent all my money."

Was she hoping Susan would take her in?

In fact, taking in Valeria wasn't impossible.

Susan thought it over for no more than thirty seconds before making a decision.

"You may stay here. Tomorrow, we'll go see our leader, Chen Xi. Whether he allows you to stay will be entirely up to him."

As for whether Chen Xi would take it out on her…

Susan didn't want to think about it. Overthinking wouldn't help. Her most important task was finishing the contract.

After speaking, she allowed Valeria to move freely while she returned to her desk.

She worked diligently, skipping even dinner.

When the aroma of food drifted from the kitchen, Susan was surprised.

"Miss Susan, it's getting late. Let's eat together."

Valeria always addressed Susan as "Miss Susan."

Susan found it slightly odd, but it wasn't wrong. She couldn't very well ask Valeria to call her "Mom," so she didn't object.

Sitting down to eat, the food exceeded Susan's expectations—better than many five-star hotels. "Your cooking is amazing! You must have studied this specially, right?"

"Cooking isn't something you need to study. Watching it is enough to learn, isn't it?"

Valeria genuinely found it easy to learn anything. She wasn't showing off.

After all, making food taste terrible was more remarkable than making it delicious.

After finishing, Susan arranged a room for Valeria.

Then she completed the remaining contract, entered it into the computer, and printed it.

By the time she finished, it was late at night. She went to rest, while Valeria secretly slipped out.

Valeria quickly glanced at the contract, deleted it entirely, and modified it, restoring all the content as much as possible.

The next morning, Susan checked quickly and found no issues. She then left with Valeria.

"When we meet Chen Xi, be polite. He's extremely capable. Don't underestimate him just because he appears ordinary. And if you're thinking of attempting an assassination… I advise against it."

Susan continued to remind Valeria along the way.

Valeria smiled the entire time.

"Don't worry. I know what I should do, and I also know my limits."

Susan's repeated warnings reminded her of her mother. Though from a different world, they shared similar traits.

After a while, they arrived at a large villa.

Inside, it was spacious and empty.

Chen Xi lounged lazily in the living room while Gwen massaged his shoulders.

"Is the contract ready? Let me see it."

Chen Xi reached for it, and Susan handed it over.

Chen Xi quickly scanned it and smiled. "Susan, you didn't make this, did you?"

He looked at Valeria beside Susan, a faint smile on his face.

"I typed this word by word yesterday," Valeria said.

Susan had checked it beforehand; there were no errors.

Chen Xi handed it back to Susan to review.

The more she checked, the stranger her expression became.

The contract appeared similar to her own work but contained many differences.

"This contract isn't mine. In fact, it's far superior. Some points hadn't even crossed my mind."

It was just the two of them in the room. If it wasn't hers, it could only be Valeria's work.

If the contract had been poorly written, she might have blamed Valeria. Instead, it was so excellent that Susan felt a bit ashamed.

"No worries, I'm not blaming you. The contract is excellent, but it was built upon your foundation."

"So, aside from delivering the contract, is there anything else?"

Chen Xi took the contract back, handed it to Wanda, and smiled at Susan and Valeria.

He revealed nothing of his prior acquaintance or close interactions with Valeria.
