Chen Xi didn't speak too plainly about these things, because some matters were already understood between them, and saying them outright would only make things awkward.
Susan blinked, but didn't press further.
"I understand what you mean," Susan said, wrapping her hands around Chen Xi's neck, her voice soft and sweet. "Let's not talk about these things anymore. Let's just continue with what we were doing—after all, the night is still long."
Chen Xi didn't hesitate either; he quickly went along with her.
During a break, Susan pursed her lips. She had always wondered whether anything had happened between Chen Xi and Valeria.
But after hesitating for just a moment, she closed her mouth.
She suddenly felt that asking now would be meaningless, since Valeria was no longer here—she had returned to the world she originally belonged to.
And by her side, Chen Xi was lying quietly, with her occupying just one place next to him.
Once that was certain, what else was there to worry about?
Thinking this, Susan suddenly realized how trivial her earlier worries had been.
"Could you spend a little more time with me from now on?"
Women could be sentimental in certain ways, especially when lying next to a man. Even asking for something slightly indulgent seemed acceptable.
"Of course I can spend more time with you—but that means you'll have to work harder yourself," Chen Xi said.
Susan blinked, puzzled, looking at him.
Chen Xi slowly explained,"There are many things happening recently—city development, occasional mutant uprisings, research at Stark Industries, matters with Asgard… so many things require my attention. If someone could help me share the load, wouldn't that give me more time?"
The women by his side either helped with trivial matters or simply kept him company in playful ways.
Chen Xi didn't see anything wrong with that. After all, these were all tasks he had to handle anyway. But if his woman could be more helpful, take on more responsibilities… wouldn't that be wonderful?
Susan thought about it and realized that Chen Xi really did have a lot on his plate, and there were ways she could assist. She nodded."Don't worry, I'll do my best."
She began considering where she could be useful. Perhaps she could consult Wanda—after all, even though she was Chen Xi's woman, compared to Wanda and the others, she still had limits. She couldn't overstep.
With a plan finally forming in her mind, Susan felt a deep sense of reassurance.
Meanwhile, Loki and the wolf Fenris, pursued by both Asgardians and Chen Xi's mutants, were sitting in a bar.
The two drank and observed the decadent crowd around them, their expressions grim.
"Our forces are really too few," Loki said suddenly.
He trusted his own strength and that of his son Fenris, but against Asgard—or even all of Chen Xi's people—the numbers were undeniably insufficient.
"Where there is light, darkness must exist as well," Loki muttered, almost to himself.
Since arriving in this world, he had held this thought in his mind but had never acted on it.
"Fenris, let's go. It's time for us to make a move!"
Now that a course of action had been decided, Loki intended to follow his plan rather than linger here fretting over unnecessary things.
As night fell, a tall figure and a slender one cloaked themselves and walked the streets.
They had gathered considerable information and now knew the location of this chaotic area.
"It seems we've arrived at the place we're looking for," Loki said.
He believed that the person they sought would be here, and a significant encounter awaited them.
Thor, and Chen Xi… they would give Loki a very big surprise.
The thought brought an involuntary smile to Loki's lips.
As Loki prepared to make a decisive move, Thor and his men were still searching.
"This guy is far too cunning," Thor muttered.
Previously, Thor had described Loki as a rat hiding in a sewer, lurking in places unknown, watching them with sinister intent.
Now, he thought of Loki more like a mole. Every time they went to a location where Loki might appear, the next moment he and Fenris would be gone without a trace.
"Someone must be helping him. There's no way their speed could be this fast otherwise," Thor concluded.
And whoever was aiding Loki was clearly formidable.
When Thor approached Chen Xi again, he shared this insight:"Someone is cooperating with Loki. I already know this."
Chen Xi wasn't surprised. News of Loki circulated nationwide, yet they had never captured him. It was obvious that someone was helping him.
"If someone is assisting him, finding Loki will be extremely difficult."
Thor had no desire to take drastic action himself. If he did, this world might immediately face destruction—a scenario he wanted to avoid.
"It's okay. I'll have people continue to investigate," Chen Xi said.
As allies, Chen Xi naturally helped with some of Thor's concerns.
"Thank you so much, Chen Xi. And I appreciate your assistance with Loki these past few days.
But once we catch Loki, what do you plan to do with him?"
"I will trap him in a place from which he can never escape."
Thor hadn't expected Chen Xi to ask such a question. He paused in surprise but soon replied decisively.
Clearly, this was a question he had asked himself before, which allowed him to answer so readily.
This confirmed what Chen Xi had suspected: Thor had no true intention of killing Loki.
"If Loki causes extreme harm to my world, however, and he falls into my hands, I will show him no mercy," Chen Xi said, pausing briefly before continuing, "Thor, I'm telling you this so you can prepare yourself mentally. After all, Loki has nothing to do with me—I will show no leniency!"
