Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Black Coffin Carrying

There are two types of dictators:

One is to use tough measures to force people to submit and not give them any chance to speak.

The other type is absolutely self-centered. You can express your opinions, but things have to be done according to what I say.

There is no doubt that Luke is the latter.

After two months of getting along, the employees have come to understand the boss's personality. To be honest, they don't like such a boss, but countless practices have proved that the boss is always right. After so many times, everyone has begun to get used to obeying orders.

Only Zuckerberg raised questions.

What kind of video platform are you going to create? The traditional originality and links? Or the new copyright and clicks?

Luke glanced at him and said arrogantly,

"Don't include those sunset industries in ShowMe's territory. They don't deserve it."

"Charlie, bring in the computer."

"Okay, boss."

Several laptops were placed in front of the heads of various departments, with the software already opened. Many options that had never appeared before were displayed below the videos and pictures: share, repost, follow, comment, like, pin, and so on.

For the internet scoundrels of later generations, these things are all too familiar, but for the young people in the DC world,

After just a few interactions, everyone's expressions changed. This thing is so social it's incredible.

A fat guy obsessed with the internet world gave a thumbs up.

"Boss, you are a genius!"

"I've heard this 999 times, and you're the thousandth."

Luke smiled faintly, "Alright everyone, focus and stop looking at the computers. Is the meeting over yet?"

"Zack, you're the head of the technical department, tell me what you think."

Zack opened his mouth but was speechless. Countless thoughts were running through his mind, but when they reached his lips, he could only utter two words.

"Very…very good!"

The technical department employees responded with sneers, their disdain evident in their words.

Zack's cheeks flushed, annoyed and embarrassed.

Luke continued, "It's been nothing but good."

Everyone's attention converged. Zuckerberg, who had been busy with his hacking career, suddenly felt a huge pressure, something he had never experienced before. After a long silence, he tentatively replied,

"I...I think that to attract users, software alone isn't enough. You need something else."

Luke did not let him go. He wanted to see how much potential this young man, who had the same face as the founder of Facebook, had.

"What do you mean by 'other'? Give me some specific suggestions."

"It's... something that can attract widespread attention, like news or hot topics."

Luke snapped his fingers, "Well said, very well said!"

"ShowMe is a social software. Its essence is interactive communication between users. Only by ensuring sufficient topicality and giving users something to discuss can the company achieve long-term development."

"Zach's suggestion is very forward-looking and hits the nail on the head."

Hearing this, Zuckerberg breathed a sigh of relief. He wiped his forehead with his right hand and found a thin layer of sweat.

"Then the question is, how can we keep the topic and popularity?"

Luo Wen stood up and said, "We can start a criminal column specifically to explore the gangs and evil organizations hidden in big cities. Gotham City is a good target."

"That's a good suggestion. After the meeting, find a few employees to come up with the copy and hand it in to me before 4 pm."

"Okay, boss."

After Luo Wen sat down, others began to offer their ideas. Some suggested party competition, some proposed the presidential election, and some brought up traditional topics such as environmental pollution and the proliferation of guns...

Luke sat in a chair, listening attentively until everyone finished speaking.

Then he said,

"After listening to your responses, I feel the need to reiterate that 90% of ShowMe's users are young people. Your proposal is good, but it ignores the most important issue and fails to hit the G-spot of young people."

"What do young people like? Current affairs? Party competition? Don't be ridiculous, they don't care about these things at all. The things they pursue and discuss passionately are nothing more than these: cool, trendy, fun, and heroes."

"The first four can be categorized into one category. They only need an introduction to attract attention, like this one..."

Luke opened a video file and projected it onto the big screen.

I saw a group of neatly dressed black people carrying a coffin and dancing excitedly on the street. Their movements were strange but rhythmic, and paired with gorgeous music, it gave people an indescribable sense of humor.

Phew!

The fat guy from the technical department couldn't help but laugh out loud first.

The others also had twitching cheeks and eyes full of laughter, but Mr. Arthur had no expression on his face. Among all the people present, he was the only one with dark skin.

Luke pressed the pause button and said grimly,

"Don't you think it's funny?"

No one spoke. The boss's mood was written on his face. Who would dare to provoke him at this time?

"Okay, let me ask another question. Can this video ignite the enthusiasm of young people?"

"Rowen, you answer."

"It should be fine."

"Cindy?"

"Of course."

The girl replied, confidently.

"Zack, go ahead."

The latter glanced at Arthur and nodded hesitantly.

"Everyone thinks it's fine, and I think it's fine too. Entertainment, joy, and complaints mixed with a little bit of superiority, superficial happiness is easily accepted by the public, but this is not what I pursue."

"Let me tell you, the video just now is not entertainment, it's a true story. Dancing while carrying the coffin is a unique Ghanaian funeral custom. They believe that death is a new beginning of life, and we shouldn't remain pessimistic. Instead, we should bid farewell to the deceased with a cheerful atmosphere as they embark on a new journey."

"If you try to please the masses with entertainment, you will eventually be abandoned by them. This is a law of history."

"I hope ShowMe is more than just a superficial thing. It should become a window, a window connecting diverse cultures. Through this window, you can understand different countries, different cultures, and different people. It is your eyes, taking you to see the world and viewing amazing scenery you have never imagined."

"Connecting the world and shortening distances, this is the future of ShowMe."

"Entertainment is just a tool to speed up the process."

As the last word fell, the air suddenly fell into silence. Everyone was stunned by these words. There were various emotions such as admiration, surprise, sighs, and silence. After a few seconds, all of them turned into applause.

Philip Arthur sighed,

"Luke, you're a fucking genius."

"Mr. Arthur, you are the thousand and first person to say this."

Luke smiled calmly and composedly, his temperament even more extraordinary. He waited until the applause died down before he spoke slowly,

"Enough of the entertainment, now let's talk about heroes. Many of you have heard about vigilantes, superhumans, and the like. I have a few videos for you to review."
