Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 I Give the Hero a Name

There were bursts of exclamations in the conference room.

On the big screen, a strong young man with black hair on his chest lifted up the burning oil well and threw it into the sea.

boom!

The oil well exploded, and crimson flames filled the entire screen. Just when everyone thought the young man had died in the fire, he rushed out unharmed, with all the hair on his chest dancing in the wind, not a single strand missing.

The scene changed.

It was still the young man with black hair on his chest, dragging a cruise ship bigger than a building through the snow and ice. The cruise ship cut through the ice, leaving a crack a hundred meters wide.

Cindy covered her mouth and screamed, and the others were also shocked and couldn't believe it.

That's a cruise ship! It weighs tens of thousands of tons, and it was towed away. How can it still maintain its dignity?

Zack murmured,

"This…this…"

"Let's talk after we finish reading it."

When I clicked on another video file, the screen went dark. The night sky was covered with dark clouds, Gothic buildings were lined up one after another, and dark tones covered the entire city. This is Gotham, the city with the highest crime rate in the United States, an old neighbor of Metropolis, and everyone in the conference room is familiar with it.

Under the swaying street lights, a ghostly figure like a bat fell from the sky. After a thrilling fight, all the gang members who were dealing drugs lay on the ground, groaning in pain.

The scene changed again, and it seemed to be an underground factory for producing drugs. A group of bats broke through the windows and flew around. The lights dimmed one after another, and from time to time, terrified wails could be heard in the dark factory, as if something terrible was attacking them.

The terrifying atmosphere lasted for a long time until the police arrived and the view returned to light.

The gang members responsible for supervising the workers were detained together, and the leader covered his chest, where there was a blood-red bat mark.

The video ended here. Luke turned off the big screen, glanced around the conference room, and said,

"Everyone, what do you think?"

Everyone looked at each other without saying a word. Many of them had heard of superhuman incidents, but hearing and seeing are two different things. Especially the young man with black hair on his chest, who could actually drag a cruise ship. Is this something a normal human can do?

"video..."

"The video is real, not a film or TV production, let alone post-processing."

Luke crossed his arms and said calmly,

"I want to hear your opinions on these two guys."

"I think it's cool, they're heroes, they're fighting the drug trade and helping other people."

Luke nodded, "What else?"

A female employee from the marketing department stood up. "I'm curious where their power comes from. Are they... gods?"

"Natasha, I tell you seriously, there is no God in the world."

"What about God? God is not a god?"

"Let's put the religious issues aside for now. Let's focus on these two people and these two videos. What do you think if we post them on ShowMe?"

As soon as the question came out, the conference room fell silent again. Everyone was smart and knew very well how much impact the two videos would have once they were spread.

Robert Downs coughed.

"They will become the focus of public opinion. ShowMe will go viral nationwide, and of course, there will be no shortage of trouble. Parahuman incidents have always existed, but the government keeps them under wraps because they don't want to draw too much attention. If we take the lead..."

Philip Arthur then replied,

"The FBI, CIA, federal government, and state governments will all talk to the company and ask it to remove the video. If it refuses, they are likely to take coercive measures."

Luke laughed, "What kind of coercive measures, putting me in jail?"

"That's the worst-case scenario, and usually the solution is a cyberattack."

"hacker?"

"Yes."

Luke laughed oddly.

The fat guys in the technical department looked at each other and smiled lovingly. Even those idiots in the FBI wanted to invade ShowMe without considering their own limitations.

"It doesn't look like any trouble."

Luke shrugged. "Mr. Arthur, could you please write a copy for me? The target is the two people in the video. I want to open a hero column, and they are the pioneers."

The moment the video appeared, Philip knew what Luke would do. He asked with a smile, "So what should we call him? The hairy-chested muscle guy? The tights-caped freak?"

Everyone was amused by this sentence, and Luke was speechless. He thought to himself: If it is written like this, it won't be long before Clark Kent rushes into the ShowMe headquarters with a truck. Don't doubt it, he will definitely do it.

"The first one is not afraid of water or fire, and his body is harder than steel. He is called Superman. The one behind him wears a high-ear helmet and looks mysterious. He is called Batman."

Superman? Batman?

Everyone can taste it and find it quite appropriate.

"Luo Wen, you and Mr. Arthur prepare the copy. The rest of you, come with me to the R&D department. We must develop the new version of the software before noon tomorrow."

After the meeting, Charlie took Luke to a secluded place.

"Boss, I have bad news for you."

"What's up?"

"The Sequoia Group sent an email saying they agree to rent the data server, but they require a $300,000 deposit."

Three hundred thousand?

Luke frowned. "Didn't you say fifty thousand before?"

"It's fifty thousand. Those black-hearted people got the news from somewhere that our funding chain is failing. They refused to sign the contract and insisted on increasing the deposit. We only have five thousand left in our account..."

"Give them to them!"

Charlie was stunned for a moment, "Boss, what did you say?"

"Three hundred thousand dollars, send them a warning. If something like this happens again, we will terminate the cooperation."

"But..."

"No buts. Only you and I know the company's accounting issues. If I don't tell you, will you?"

Charlie froze up after hearing these plain words, and quickly made a promise.

"I won't tell anyone even if you kill me."

Luke patted his shoulder. "Don't worry, I'm not doubting you. I'm just stating a fact. You didn't mention it, and neither did I. How did the people at Sequoia Group know? Do they have the ability to read minds?"

Charlie gradually understood.

"Are they defrauding us?"

"good."

Luke put his hands behind his back and stared quietly at the distant building. "Sequoia Group has proposed acquisitions many times, but I've rejected them all. Seeing the fat piece of meat right at their fingertips about to slip away, how could they be willing to accept it? Since the acquisition failed, they can only make moves in other areas."

"But if we give them 300,000, the company will be out of money. Even daily expenses will become a problem, and there's also the advertising next week..."

"Don't talk about advertising beforehand. We'll talk about it later."

"…All right!"

Charlie sighed softly and left worriedly.

Most companies will face the problem of capital shortage in the early stage, and ShowMe is no exception. The best way to solve the capital chain is to raise funds. As long as there is financing, finance will not be a problem. However, if this is done, the rights of entrepreneurs will be reduced, and all aspects will be restricted by shareholders. If you are not careful, you will be swallowed up whole.

There are too many such cases, too numerous to count. It is better to expect capitalists to shed crocodile tears than to expect them to have conscience.
