Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 It’s so dark

Facts have proved that the saying "Good people don't live long, but evil deeds last for thousands of years" does have a certain scientific basis.

Just when the two thought that Adusan was dead, a low cough was heard in the car.

Emily quickly opened the car door and dragged the person down to check.

"How about it?"

"Still breathing."

Luke clicked his tongue and shook his head. "He's survived after falling over a dozen times. He's got a tough life."

"You still say that!"

Recalling the previous shot, the girl's anger immediately surged up. "We are here to arrest someone, not to kill him. There is no need to use [Super Weapons]. If you kill him, how will we investigate next?"

"...Let me clarify, that's not a super weapon. It's an overload device that emits a stream of negative ion energy. By the way, have you ever been to college?"

Emily was like a rooster that had been stabbed in the vitals.

"What do you mean!"

"Sorry, I didn't mean to say that. Actually, I didn't go to college..." He paused and added, "I didn't even graduate from junior high school."

Luke shrugged. "In principle, negative ions are beneficial to carbon-based life, but they have a substantial impact on metals. That shot just now was intended to destroy the car's drive system, not harm Adusan himself. If he dies as a result of this incident, the responsibility should be attributed to the Toyota's safety features, not me. Do you understand?"

"quibble!"

Emily snorted, agreeing with his explanation.

The two of them worked together to drag the unconscious Adusan into the Lamborghini, and Luke took out a shot of cardiac stimulant from the trunk and injected it into him.

With this, it's hard to die.

By this time, it was already 2:30 in the morning and even the nightingales had stopped singing.

Just as Luke was driving away, three police cars suddenly appeared at the intersection in the distance.

Jim Gordon, newly promoted to police chief, called Chief Killian B. Robb.

"Mr. Rob, the person has been found. I need one final confirmation. Are you really sure that the person in the car is an internationally wanted criminal?"

A hoarse voice came from the phone, filled with undisguised anger.

"Don't question my orders. Remember, after you capture someone, send them directly to the Western Suburbs Police Station."

As soon as he finished speaking, the phone was hung up.

Jim Gordon put down his phone, a gloomy look in his eyes. The police officer beside him glanced at the captain and muttered softly,

"The Western Suburban Police Department again? How many times has this happened?"

Jim didn't answer, but looked out the window.

"We've almost become the gang's official toilet paper. We use it whenever we need to wipe our butts, and then throw it directly into the sewer when we're done. We don't even need to be paid."

Policewoman Ramirez sneered, "That's because you haven't seen the director's mansion. Go there once and you'll know where the money goes."

"alright!"

Jim didn't let his men continue speaking. He took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a deep puff.

"Everyone, brace yourself. If they really are wanted criminals, be prepared to fight. If they are not..." He paused and added, "Try not to hurt anyone."

Three police cars separated and drove side by side on the road. Police cars also drove in from behind, flanking them from the front and back, completely blocking the road which was already narrow.

At the same time, an armored vehicle with the Black Hawk logo was parked on the lawn not far away. The door opened and more than a dozen armed special police officers rushed out one after another, distributed in a fan shape, and surrounded from all directions.

Emily said with an ugly face,

"It seems like their target is us?"

Luke drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, his face expressionless.

"How did the police know our location?"

"That's what I want to know. One second we caught Adusan from the drug dealers' den, and the next second the police showed up. It can't be the drug dealers who called the police, right?"

"How is that possible? Why would a drug dealer ask the police for help?

"

The girl's tone of voice was just like her exaggerated expression. Luke smiled but said nothing. He originally thought that he had a clear understanding of the dark side of Gotham City, but it was not until this moment that he suddenly realized how shallow his original understanding was.

Gotham City is so fucking dark.

Jim Gordon took out the microphone,

"Everyone in the car, listen up! We are from the Gotham City Police Department. We have a case that requires your cooperation in the investigation. Please exit the vehicle, put your hands behind your head, and refrain from any resistance."

While they were talking, the vehicle behind them slowly moved forward. Several fully armed special police officers hid in the grass, with the muzzles of their AR15 automatic rifles pointed at the black Lamborghini. They would not hesitate to pull the trigger if the other party made any unusual move.

The situation became tense in an instant.

Emily, who works for the FBI, quickly noticed the police's actions. Seeing the encirclement getting smaller and smaller, her heart began to tighten. When facing drug dealers, she could shoot them without hesitation because they deserved to die, but it was different for the police.

She really didn't want to conflict with them unless necessary.

"What should we do?"

"Talk first, then think about taking action."

Luke turned on the audio channel and narrated word by word,

"Adusan, an Arab-American, is the boss of the East Sea Razor Gang and a super criminal who controls the underground drug trade in Gotham City and Metropolis. I just caught him and the police came to our door. I'm curious, who tipped you off? A drug dealer?"

Adusan, the Razor Gang!

Hearing these words, the expressions of the surrounding police officers changed instantly.

Jim Gordon also frowned and said in a deep voice,

"Sir, please get out of the car and be inspected. We will ensure your personal safety."

"Adusan's car is on the grass not far away. It's a Toyota SUV with the license plate number 056XKRW. You can check it out."

Ramirez took a step forward.

"I just received a text message. It's indeed Adusan's car. The car body is severely damaged. No one was found. He must have been taken away."

The person next to him said, "Could it be Batman?"

Ramirez sarcastically said, "Otherwise, given Captain Luo Bu's personality, if it wasn't an emergency, why would he mobilize criminal police and special police at 2:30 in the morning... to rescue a drug lord!"

This sentence was too harsh. Even the usually calm Jim Gordon frowned and glared at her sternly.

"Don't jump to conclusions before things are finalized."

"What if it's true?"

Ramirez didn't back down. "If Adusan was really in the car, and we detained them and sent them to the West Suburban Police Department, you all know what the outcome would be."

Everyone was silent, and none of the people sent to the West Suburbs Police Station came out.

"team leader!"

Ramirez said seriously, "We can't do this. It's too embarrassing."

Everyone looked at each other and said nothing. As policemen, they had to take risks to rescue a heinous drug lord. It was like a story from a satirical novel.

Jim Block waved his hands irritably.

"Hank, take her away. I don't want to hear her talk."

Ramirez was about to speak when Hank and another police officer dragged him aside.

At this time, the cell phone rang. It was the director calling.

"Jim, tell me, the car has been surrounded, why don't you give the order to attack?"

"Things have changed a bit, I..."

"I don't care what happens. I only tell you one thing: the car and the people inside must stay. This is an order."

Jim opened his mouth and whispered, "I know."
