Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Tragic Diary of the Red Count

Finn was very surprised; he had walked this path yesterday, but now there was a wounded man inexplicably lying there.

Could there be other people living on this small island?

At this moment, Finn was very cautious and did not go forward directly, standing at a distance and carefully observing Red Count without making a sound.

"It seems there's no danger."

Finn bravely walked over slowly.

"Are you injured?"

This strangely dressed man seemed to be severely wounded.

Could he have been attacked by a sea monster and then washed ashore by the waves?

It must be said that Finn's sixth sense was very accurate; Red Count was indeed attacked, but what he didn't know was that the ones who attacked Red Count were precisely the few little darlings by his side.

"These clothes?"

Finn touched Red Count's clothes, his eyes full of doubt; the material didn't look like something this small, desolate island could produce.

After much thought, Finn decided to be a good person for once.

Since the other party could come to this island, then perhaps others might come in the future.

Saving his life and asking about the world's situation would be good.

Anyway, he was so severely injured; I should still be safe.

"Cough, cough."

Just as Finn was pondering, Red Count coughed twice lightly.

Sensing an unfamiliar blood power nearby, he looked up, his eyes filled with greed as he stared at Finn, opening his mouth to bite at Finn's neck.

"Kuro…"

Before Red Count could react, his body seemed to be struck by some giant object, once again hitting the ground with a thud.

Finn looked at Red Count in confusion, wondering if it was a final burst of energy before death.

"Alright, Pika, he's a patient, don't stand on him anymore."

Pika was Finn's name for the little bird at home; because she had colorful feathers, she was called Pika, and she clearly liked the name very much.

Finn saw that Pika had just flown onto Red Count's body and quickly called Pika back; what if he was being framed?

Red Count struggled to lift his head, looking at the harmless Finn with a face full of terror.

He was extremely familiar with that power from just now; in that instant, he seemed to have returned to that night when he was tormented by a few devils.

Red Count, who thought he was saved, instantly blacked out and fainted when his gaze swept over Pika on Finn's shoulder.

Finn patted Red Count's face, looking helpless.

"Is it really a final burst of energy? Did he die?"

"…"

Inside the small hut, Finn placed Red Count on a wooden board to lie down, while he himself leaned on the bed, watching the few little fellows happily eating, drinking, and playing outside the window.

Today's harvest was good; the fish by the sea seemed to have a GPS, constantly swimming into his fishing net.

On the way, he also picked up two silly rabbits that had just run into a tree stump and died.

Looking at the rabbits over a meter long, Finn even thought they had become spirits.

Outside the hut, the four little fellows ate happily, their gazes occasionally sweeping towards Finn, their eyes filled with joy and adoration.

Kuro's gaze swept over the other three companions.

"Everyone has awakened?"

Gin nodded, while Pika said excitedly:

"Don't worry, Kuro, even Ann has awakened."

"Aren't you targeting me, Pika?"

"Yeah, why don't you fly up and hit me then?" Pika teased the helpless little grey lizard with a very punchable expression.

"You? I'll deal with you tonight." Ann glared fiercely.

"Alright, alright, since everyone has awakened, I won't say much about the Master's current situation; keep a close eye on the guy in that house; if he's up to no good, eat him anytime; if he's obedient, keep him for now."

The four nodded and resumed their hearty eating and drinking.

Inside the hut, Red Count woke up from his coma again.

Since he obtained the Bat-Bat Fruit, he had only fainted twice.

Last night was the first time, and today during the day was the second time.

It was embarrassing to even mention it.

But there was no choice; he had no option; when he woke up, he found his body in chaos; at this moment, he was just a severely wounded ordinary person, completely unable to resist.

The demon who kept four monsters was getting closer and closer.

His face wore a falsely benevolent smile, and he held a shriveled red fruit in his hand.

It seemed he wanted to poison me. Alas, if I die, I die; it's better than being tortured to death by those monsters.

Red Count leaned with difficulty against the broken board behind him, his face expressing a willingness to die, as if he was suffering immense torment at that moment.

"How are you? It seems you're recovering quickly?"

Finn's voice made Red Count pause.

That's right, his body was clearly shattered yesterday, and he hadn't absorbed any blood, so how did he recover? Although he had no strength now and was in severe pain all over, his body had already begun to heal.

However, this healing was like haphazardly piecing together a body; although the outside looked fine, the inside was already in utter disarray.

Did this demon heal him to be a plaything for those monsters?

Red Count regretted it.

He regretted why he had fled in this direction.

He regretted why he had gone to challenge Whitebeard.

He regretted why he hadn't chosen to directly fight Kong.

If he hadn't challenged Whitebeard, he wouldn't have been ambushed by Kong, and he certainly wouldn't have run to this cursed place.

The more Red Count thought about it, the more wronged he felt, his face turning ashen; he had already envisioned his future decades of being constantly tortured, recovering, and then tortured again by monsters.

Finn stared blankly at Red Count, who had already performed a grand drama in his mind, and shoved the red fruit, which he had held up for a long time, into Red Count's mouth.

He turned around, muttering curses, and walked out of the hut.

He thought he was some kind of noble, but who knew he was just a foolish and deaf drama queen.

After Finn left, Red Count, having given up resistance, instinctively took a bite of the red fruit Finn had shoved into his mouth.

Crunch.

A gentle power instantly enveloped Red Count; the internal injuries rapidly healed.

His already sunken, bat-like eyes widened even more, as if they could pop out at any moment.

His bones were shattered, and all the power in his body was chaotic and unstable; although he was considered an ordinary person just now, it was impossible for him to regain his strength.

"Wow!"

Red Count spat out a mouthful of black blood, and his pale complexion became slightly rosy instead.

Within the black blood, there were more impure toxins from his body.

In an instant, Red Count felt as if he was in a vast red ocean of blood, greedily absorbing the pure power without end.

His eyes shone brightly as he felt his power increasing.

"Was it that fruit just now? He actually gave me such a miraculous power to eat?"

"Is this demon so kind?"

"Forget it, I should leave here while he's not around."

He calmed his excited mind; at this moment, he was confident he could fight Whitebeard again, even having absolute certainty that he could defeat him.

Whitebeard, Kong, just you wait for me.

Red Count's hearty laughter made him forget his current predicament.

With a bang, the wooden door he had pushed open with force swung back and slammed shut.

It instantly knocked Red Count back into the hut.

Red Count angrily got up and, with a flash, appeared outside the door.

"Who, who ambushed me?"

Under his gaze, there was no one, not even the demon in his mind.

Just as Red Count was secretly pleased and preparing to leave, the scene before him completely astonished him, making his mouth hang open.

"Red fruits, red fruits, red fruits all over the mountains and plains!"

The red fruits that Red Count thought were treasures were actually all over the entire mountain; in fact, compared to the red fruits on the trees, the one he had just eaten was like garbage that had fallen to the ground.

Big, very big, very fragrant red fruits, all over the mountains and plains.

Recalling the feeling of being enveloped by power earlier, Red Count was held back by greed.

With a blank expression, he mechanically walked towards the fruit forest.

At this moment, four voices simultaneously came from behind him, pulling Red Count out of his greed.

"Hey, stop, hands up."
