The next day, at the Hokage Building's Mission Hall, "First of all, congratulations to everyone on officially becoming ninjas. From today, you are independent Konohagakure genin."
"Now, the first mission for Team 7 is..."
The Third Hokage sat at the table, looking at Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura, then lowered his head to check the mission scroll.
"Hey, Sasuke, what do you think our first mission will be? Protecting a feudal lord's princess? Delivering critical intelligence? Or maybe wiping out bandits?"
Naruto whispered excitedly, eyeing the flipping scroll, unable to suppress his enthusiasm for ninja stories circulating in Konohagakure.
"You think too much, Naruto," Sasuke rolled his eyes, speaking calmly.
"You want to defeat the big villain before leaving the novice village? Are you kidding?"
"That's it. Your mission is a D-rank task to help villagers drive away wild boars. This will also develop your team spirit," the Third Hokage said, finding a task, noting Naruto's messy expression.
"Yes, Hokage-sama. Team 7, let's move out," Kakashi stepped forward, took the mission scroll, and called the three to the destination.
"What the heck? I thought it'd be an exciting mission, but it's just driving away wild boars," Naruto muttered, following with a sullen face, his deep disappointment evident.
"Actually, this is beyond my expectations! It's much better than mowing lawns, babysitting, or walking cats and dogs."
Sasuke reminded, hands in his pockets, his eyes darting between Kakashi and Naruto, considering potential system rewards from the mission.
"What? We have to mow lawns, babysit, and walk cats and dogs? Damn, what kind of ninja is this? Kakashi-sensei, there won't be such boring missions, right?"
Naruto paused, shouting.
"Well, Sasuke's right. As ninjas, we carry out tasks as required by our clients. There are even more outrageous ones," Kakashi said, walking on, shattering Naruto's ninja fantasies while secretly glancing at Sasuke, impressed again.
Sasuke, worthy of the Uchiha clan, showed knowledge and maturity far beyond Naruto's.
"As expected of Sasuke-kun, you know so much!"
Sakura, ever the supporter, chimed in, eyes sparkling with admiration.
"So lame. I didn't expect becoming a ninja would mean such boring missions," Naruto's spirits wilted, his enthusiasm for the first mission fading.
Soon, the group of four reached a corner of the village per the mission scroll.
"Thank you, ninjas! My fields are on the village's edge, and wild boars trample my rice crops from time to time. Recently, it's been a disaster, with over a dozen coming in droves. Please drive them away."
The client explained with a bitter face, fearing his harvest would be ruined.
"Is that so? It seems there's at least one herd of wild boars," Kakashi nodded, analyzing, then turned to Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura.
"Now, it's time to practice intelligence gathering. You three, collect information on the number and locations of wild boars within a two-kilometer radius. I'll stay here to prevent them from trampling the fields again. Remember, this is intelligence gathering, not expulsion! Don't alert the boars, as it'll cause more trouble."
Kakashi gave the order seriously, shifting the atmosphere.
"Intelligence gathering? Heh, this is what I'm best at! Multiple Shadow Clone Technique!"
Naruto, excited again, formed hand seals and shouted enthusiastically.
Bang, bang, bang!
Dozens of Naruto clones appeared instantly amid white smoke.
"With so many, it looks reliable! Thank you, ninjas!"
The client said, pleasantly surprised.
"Heh heh heh! Of course, I'm a ninja! Sasuke, Sakura, just wait and see my performance today!"
Naruto, praised, raised his tail, acting like the boss, second only to the earth, third only to himself.
"Fool! Who told you to create so many clones at once? With your chakra, they'll last a minute at most! They're practically useless!"
Kakashi scolded harshly before Sasuke or Sakura could speak.
The client's excited expression faded.
"One minute? What can such useless clones do, even with more? I shouldn't have trusted this kid," he complained mercilessly, giving Naruto no face.
Naruto's face fell, hit hard by the scolding.
'As expected, Naruto's only handsome for a second, unlike me, handsome for life.' Sasuke sighed, turning to Kakashi.
"Kakashi-sensei, do you have any experience or advice? This is our first mission. As our sensei, you won't skip guidance, right?"
Sasuke's gaze burned, testing the system's limits.
If he could prompt suggestions, he wouldn't play fair!
"Experience or advice? WellâŠ"
Kakashi's face stiffened, touching his nose with an awkward smile.
Was being a jĆnin sensei this tough?
He didn't have this much to do back then!
"My suggestion is to give fewer opinions and follow orders. Let's go, everyone. Regroup at 3 p.m."
Under Sasuke's expectant gaze, Kakashi spoke shamelessly, causing Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura to collapse.
This sensei was still so unreliable!
[Warning: The host may hint or induce others to make suggestions, but this will not trigger system tasksâŠ]
A system warning sounded in Sasuke's ears.
Sasuke curled his lips, bored.
Not fun, System-kun...
"Let's go and complete the mission in one go! Sasuke, if you're scared, stay here and wait for me to teach you my experience," Naruto clapped his fists, shouting with a playful, arrogant look.
He rushed into the woods, moving out.
[Naruto's malicious suggestion detected, triggering a 10x D-rank reward. Task: Slap Naruto in the face. Reward: 0.2 units chakra.]
Sasuke's expression shifted from gloomy to bright. Naruto was truly a wealth-bringing boy!
With 0.2 units of chakra, his reserves would rival half of Kakashi's.
"Hmph, intelligence gathering isn't the place for your arrogance."
"Sharingan!"
Sasuke sneered, his eyes turning scarlet as he rushed out like an arrow.
"Those twoâŠ"
Sakura shook her head, hurrying to catch up.
"Using the Sharingan to enhance insight for intelligence gathering is a good idea, but a genin's chakra can only sustain it for about five minutes. Still too naive," Kakashi murmured, watching their backs, then took out "Icha Icha Paradise" and savored it.
The client looked on, puzzled.
