Jericho, Vermont, United States of America
In an office, a short-haired blonde woman was having a very distressing argument that had been worrying her for a long time ever since she received the notice.
"They're not my students. You can send whoever you want to investigate, but you won't find anything."
"Mrs. Weems, you must understand that this situation cannot be aggravated by an inspector who will be on the way to inspect your students."
"Nevermore is a safe haven for our students to learn and grow, no matter who or what they are. For over 200 years, we've welcomed outcasts of all kinds: humans, werewolves, vampires, mermaids, and gorgons. We've respected the ancient rules, and all students come from families who have sworn loyalty to the association." Larissa Weems said in an agitated voice, desperate to stop an inspection by any means necessary.
"The Regent is on his way for the investigation. I wish you luck."
Larissa Weems sighed and asked, "Who will they send?"
"Regent Guardian Jonathan Belmont."
When the call ended, Larissa Weems's hands trembled. How could she not be afraid? They were sending a Belmont, known as hunters who killed indiscriminately, targeting dark entities.
Everyone had heard of them, and in fact, they feared them.
"I need to prove to him that this place is safe…"
Nevermore Academy, often abbreviated as Nevermore, is an American academy for outcasts located in the state of Vermont, not far from the city of Jericho.
Founded in 1791 on the lands of Joseph Crackstone after he was murdered by Goody Addams, Nevermore Academy is an academic institution that nurtures outcasts, monsters, and humanoid creatures born with superhuman abilities. Its goal is to unlock the full potential of its students' extraordinary abilities through world-class teaching and unique extracurricular activities.
A unique place that The Healing Church likely used to train soldiers who could be deployed at the last moment if humanity required it.
Many knew about this site, but townspeople normally never spoke of it.
But now, with the recent wave of deaths, everyone blamed the academy.
Without a doubt, everyone expected that they were not involved.
…
"Do we have any important information?" Jonathan asked while sitting in the back of a van, eating ice cream.
"In 1990, Garrett Gates entered Nevermore Academy during the Rave'N and attacked Gómez Addams before being stabbed by Morticia Frump. Garrett's body fell onto the courtyard in front of Larissa Weems, Morticia's roommate and currently the director of Nevermore."
"Were there no arrests?"
"It was irrelevant to the Church, so they didn't get involved. As long as dark entities or special individuals kill each other, they will never participate—you know that well." Father Doung looked at Jonathan, wanting to know if he had ever attended this academy.
"ETA?"
"We'll be in Jericho in a few more hours, sir. As ordered, we've brought your special team."
Ethan regretted not having more special subordinates; preferably, he wanted people he could trust and who would be useful in the future.
"Has the message reached the director?" Ethan was very interested in ensuring everyone knew he was on his way.
"They are informed."
"Good. Then let's see how big this academy is and how well they do their job."
