Chapter 85 - The Underworld?

Now I understand why all the agents they sent here died. None of them had the capabilities to survive more than a minute in this place because of the kind of portal they entered. Jonathan thought as he controlled his fall very slowly with his telekinesis.

The surroundings were dark; glowing particles floated through the air, and as he descended, he could see that everything in this place was devoid of life.

Fortunately, he had a few hours of oxygen left. He didn't know if he could manage without air, so he had to move quickly.

Crack!

When he landed on the ground, he noticed more clearly that this place seemed much older than the modern age he came from. Besides, there weren't many things that stood out—only that there was no one alive.

I highly doubt an ordinary human could survive in such a hostile environment. I wonder how I'll find a way out of here. Jonathan wasn't anxious; he knew the answers would come to him much faster than he expected.

Walking calmly through this place, he noticed that people here seemed to live as if it were still 1980, and no one cared. That was curious—each city had its own technological progress, as if they were bubbles separated from reality.

How could so many dark entities from different eras coexist? That was the question, and Jonathan had already grown used to sudden changes in technology.

Here, it really did seem like they were still living in the 1980s, which directly related to the events that would happen later on in this place.

After this, I'll make sure to work on simpler missions. Everything gets darker the deeper I go into the organizations around me. Jonathan didn't feel comfortable being guided by organizations.

He much preferred taking whatever came to him from his small church—avoiding the attention of high-ranking individuals and steering clear of plots more dangerous than he could currently handle.

Crack!

Jonathan turned his head, and what he saw was a horrid four-legged creature. It didn't seem intent on attacking, but he knew it was an enemy. "Are you some kind of alien dog?"

Roooaarrr!!!

This creature stood two meters tall. The monster was tall and thin, with a humanoid figure. Its head had no facial features and opened like a flower, revealing nothing but sharp teeth.

Jonathan wasn't scared. He recognized the creature standing before him—this was the same thing that had come out of the portal he entered, so he knew what would happen next. "Tell me, where can I find an exit?"

The humanoid monster roared loudly, then began to run toward Jonathan. With a long knife in his hand, he waited for the monster to make its move.

Crack!

At that moment, Jonathan didn't move—but he wasn't going to wait to be attacked either. Using his mental power, he sent the monster flying hundreds of meters away, crashing into a ruined house.

When the monster stood up, it was furious. It wanted to find Jonathan and tear him to pieces. However, when it returned to where it had met the human, it found nothing.

Rooaaarrr!!!

The monster roared in rage when it saw that the human had vanished.

In the distance, Jonathan's eyes were filled with intense killing intent.

If someone wanted to kill him, he always retaliated with all his might. But right now, Jonathan knew that the investigation was far more important than anything else.

Right now?

He had never imagined that after defeating a powerful superhuman, he would find himself inside a completely unknown dimension. This wasn't a parallel world to his own—this was an entirely different world, and it lacked humans altogether.

"What kind of strange aberration exists here…" Jonathan sighed as he watched that monster run away. "I'm sure if I follow that thing, I'll find answers."

Standing atop a large tree, Jonathan disappeared from that place and reappeared somewhere entirely new. There was a cabin there—the monster seemed to be watching something inside it.

Your mom's coming for you.

"Tell her to hurry…"

"Just hold on, your mom's coming."

"Will? Will!"

Outside the cabin, Jonathan stood thoughtfully, listening to the sounds coming from inside—it was the only source of a human voice he could recognize.

Crack!

At that moment, Jonathan wasn't the only one who noticed the human voice—an alien dog near his position did too. "Found you."

Just as that alien dog was about to attack the small cabin, Jonathan moved swiftly, and this time, using a knife, he appeared beside the deformed figure. He grabbed it by the neck, twisted in the air, and cut off its head.

All of this happened within just a few seconds—Jonathan didn't give the monster any time to attack.

The sudden noise outside frightened the boy named Will inside, but Jonathan didn't care. As soon as he killed the monster, he wiped the blood from his knife using his suit.

"Is anyone in there? You can come out—it's safe as long as I'm here."

However, before he could continue speaking, a new presence appeared out of nowhere and bit into his right arm. The sudden attack angered Jonathan, who seemed to be adapting to the sensations of this place, and he reacted instantly—one strike from his hand sent the creature's head exploding into a thousand pieces.

Boom!

The sudden explosion startled Will, who had stood up from where he had been cornered.

He knew there was someone outside, but also that numerous monsters were around, so he wanted to warn the man who was talking to him.

"Damn it, that ugly dog tore off my hand." Jonathan raised his arm, which was bleeding heavily—but moments later, before his eyes, his regenerative power restored it completely.

When Will came out, he saw Jonathan standing over one of those things that had been chasing him for days, and the only thing he could think to ask was, "Who are you?"
