"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 163: Grim Prospects

Minute by minute, the magicians kept pouring power into the dimension, their ritual relentless. The once-empty sky was now crowded with a sprawling magic array—its glow pulsed with enough energy to make the world tremble.

Azazel watched the formation build overhead, lips curled in a sardonic grin. "World-ending magic, huh? The kind that could go toe-to-toe with a god if unleashed at full strength. And they're pairing it with spatial annihilation? Someone's really splurging to take us out."

Michael's gaze was cool, unflappable. "We can't let them dictate the terms. If we want to survive, we need to seize the initiative."

Sirzechs nodded, eyes tracking the swelling magic overhead. "First priority: cut off their teleportation array. Otherwise, we'll be drowning in cannon fodder forever."

He and Michael worked in tandem, holding the barrier steady. But the tension in their faces was unmistakable—the enemy's preparations had been meticulous, tailored to this exact moment.

Sirzechs's voice was grave. "If Michael and I join forces, we can shield everyone from the blast. But protecting my sister and her team… that's another story. Self-preservation is easy. Shielding the weak—that's where it gets tricky."

Azazel cracked his knuckles, fearless as ever. "You two play defense. I'll go hunting for whoever's pulling the strings."

Rias stepped forward, her determination clear. "Lord Lucifer, let me handle the teleportation array."

Sirzechs's smile was faint, but proud. "That's just like you. Go. Grayfia will clear a path."

"Understood!" Rias replied, her peerage falling in behind her without hesitation.

Grayfia strode to the edge of the barrier, her presence radiating raw power—every bit as formidable as Sirzechs himself. She gathered her magic for a heartbeat, then unleashed it in a single, devastating slash. A blade of pure force tore through the air, carving a straight path toward the heart of the enemy's teleportation network.

Magicians caught in the blast were shredded to mist—Grayfia didn't even blink. "Go," she said quietly, as if she'd swatted a fly.

Rias launched herself forward, blazing with crimson energy. Draconis and the rest surged after her, racing down the corridor Grayfia had carved.

They barely made it halfway before the magicians closed ranks, their numbers swelling.

"Erase them!" Rias commanded, her voice sharp. Scarlet flames erupted around her, incinerating the first wave of attackers.

"Stop them!" came the panicked shout from the enemy ranks. Dozens of magicians hurled themselves into the fray, spells flying.

Explosions rattled the air as magic bullets collided with Rias's fire. Her flames dominated, burning two magicians to ash before finally sputtering out. The survivors pressed the attack, launching a fresh barrage.

But before the spells could land, lightning cracked through the air—Akeno, hovering above, sent golden serpents of electricity into the crowd. The magicians screamed, the stench of scorched flesh thick in the air.

Draconis was already in motion, plunging into the heart of the enemy. A golden sword flashed into existence in his hand—one sweeping arc, and magicians fell in halves, blood spraying across the battlefield.

Xenovia stared, wide-eyed. "Is that… Ascalon?"

Koneko's jaw dropped. "He's wielding a Holy Sword?"

Draconis knocked aside another volley of spells, holy-demonic power surging into Ascalon. The blade shimmered, purple-red runes crawling along its length.

Koneko whispered, "It's become a holy-demonic sword…"

Asia piped up, "What happened to the Regalia Blade?"

Draconis shrugged. "These magicians use demonic magic. This sword's better against them."

It wasn't that the Regalia Blade was weak—it was part of his Sacred Gear set, designed for defense and judgment, not slaughter. Against demon-aligned foes, Ascalon was simply more efficient.

Xenovia shook her head, half-amused, half-annoyed. "I'm supposed to be the Holy Sword wielder. You're such a freak."

Koneko looked a little lost. "He's gotten stronger again…"

Draconis grinned, unrepentant. "Surprised? You shouldn't be. Holy Sword wielder, that direction's yours."

He tore through the magicians, Ascalon blazing. None could stand against him.

With Rias, Akeno, and Draconis leading the charge, the group carved straight through enemy lines, reaching the core of the teleportation array.

The magicians guarding the array erupted in fury. "What are you idiots doing? You let them get this far? Kill them—now!"

Hundreds of magicians converged, the numbers dizzying. And still, the teleportation arrays kept funneling in more. It was impossible to tell how many enemies they faced.

Draconis felt a chill. If the enemy could mass-produce magicians of this caliber—each one matching a mid-class devil—then their power dwarfed even the devil faction. No wonder the three leaders looked so grim.

The future was anything but certain.
