Chapter 168 - 《DXD: Transfer Student》Chapter 168: A New Sacred Gear?

"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 168: A New Sacred Gear?

Magic surged, thick as a tidal wave—Vali wasn't holding back anymore.

His White Dragon Emperor wings unfurled, flooding the air with power aimed straight at Draconis.

But Draconis's senses were razor-sharp now. He caught the threat in an instant.

A low hum vibrated through the battlefield. Space itself trembled as a colossal black citadel materialized overhead, blotting out the sky—a fortress in the void.

He'd triggered the Citadel of Endless Dusk, locking himself in a state of timeless stasis.

Azazel chuckled, nodding in approval. "Impressive reflexes. Vali's power couldn't touch him."

Sirzechs explained for the crowd, "The White Dragon Emperor's main ability is halving—every ten seconds, it cuts the target's attack power in half and adds that lost strength to itself. It's a full-spectrum boost."

Draconis had prepared for this. His response was flawless.

The stasis effect of the Citadel made him immune to all status changes. Vali's halving ability simply bounced off him—null and void.

Vali didn't seem discouraged. "Just as I thought. Your Sacred Gear can block my halving. That's an airtight defense…"

Draconis smiled, voice calm. "It's stronger than you think."

Vali grinned, eyes flashing. "Even better!"

He became a streak of white light—a meteor barreling down from the heavens.

Even without his halving trick, Vali's raw power was nothing to scoff at.

Draconis met him head-on, Regalia Blade in hand. With Balance Breaker unleashed, the sword's amplification was now at a staggering twenty-fold. Every ounce of magic was perfectly channeled—Absolute Dominion meant zero waste.

To the onlookers, it looked like flesh and blood against the full might of the White Dragon Emperor. Each clash sent ripples through the dimension, shaking reality itself.

This was, after all, just a temporary battlefield cobbled together by magicians. After the earlier world-ending spell, the space was already unstable. Now, with these titans trading blows, collapse was only a matter of time.

Akeno leaned in, curious. "Doesn't Draconis need to promote?"

Rias shook her head, baffled. "It seems… he's promoting himself."

She was the King, but she hadn't even set the boundaries yet…

Sirzechs, ever the expert, just smiled. "You're underestimating Absolute Dominion. Promotion is just a limitation of the Evil Pieces system. With Absolute Dominion, he's broken free."

In other words, Draconis could tap the full power of his devil pieces—no more restrictions.

Sona groaned. "This totally breaks the rules…" She was already dreading future Rating Games. How were they supposed to deal with someone like this?

Michael laughed softly. "I have a feeling this isn't even his limit."

Irina, standing behind him, wore a complicated expression. She used to spar with Draconis; now, he was in a league of his own.

Just how freakish was this guy?

Right now, Draconis was stronger than ever before. But his opponent was Vali, the White Dragon Emperor.

Vali's excitement was palpable. "Still not enough! You're strong, but not at my level yet. I know you can go further—show me!"

Every move he made crackled with terrifying magic. He'd kept up Balance Breaker for ages—normally, that would drain anyone's life or magic, but Vali's reserves seemed endless.

Azazel offered a dry reminder. "Vali's been able to maintain Balance Breaker for over a month. Stalling won't help you."

The spectators were stunned. This White Dragon Emperor was something else.

How would Draconis respond?

He noticed Vali's stamina wasn't flagging, so after dozens of brutal exchanges, Draconis broke away, putting some distance between them.

A blade appeared in his hand, wreathed in holy fire.

Azazel's eyes sparkled. "Dragon Slayer Holy Sword—Ascalon? Well, isn't fate having fun today."

The legendary dragon slayer facing one of the Heavenly Dragons—this fight was only getting wilder.

Vali just smiled, unimpressed. "A sword that once killed dragons? Nice, but it won't hurt me much. If you think you can beat me with that alone, you're dreaming."

Draconis hovered in the air, Regalia Blade in his right hand, Ascalon in his left. His face was serene.

"You're right. To me, the so-called dragon slayer is just another sword. Did you know? My Regalia Blade used to be plain iron."

He glanced down at his weapons, tone light.

Vali seemed intrigued. "So what are you getting at?"

Draconis shrugged. "Everyone thinks Sacred Gears are gifts from the gods. I disagree."

He spoke blasphemy without a care—after all, the gods were long gone. Who was left to object?

"Dragon Slayer, Regalia Blade—their power comes from their stories, their traits. Is someone a hero because they pull the hero's sword? No—it's a hero's sword because a hero wields it."

Vali's eyes narrowed, thoughtful. "That's an interesting way to look at it."

Draconis continued, "Ascalon is called the Dragon Slayer because someone killed a dragon with it. Regalia Blade is the king's sword because its wielder was a king. And now… I'm the one holding them."

He smiled. "When I broke through, I realized something important."

He swung Ascalon, almost casually. "Balance Breaker."

A low hum filled the air.

Everyone stared, speechless, as Ascalon—never a Sacred Gear before—suddenly transformed, radiating new power. Draconis had just triggered a second Balance Breaker.

The rules had changed, and everyone knew it.
