"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 199: I Want to Be with You

The mission wrapped up smoothly—quick, clean, and with just enough excitement to keep things interesting.

Draconis Yi had come along as backup, but with Koneko and the others handling the job without a hitch, he saw no reason to hang around any longer.

"All done here. Should we head home?" he asked.

"Mm, let's go. It's too late for any more requests tonight," Rias replied, looping her arm through his, close and content.

Koneko fished out the last of her snacks from her little bag, munching quietly. In the past, she'd guard her treats like a dragon with gold, but now, with Draconis Yi, sharing came naturally.

Watching her, Draconis Yi realized it'd been ages since he'd brought Koneko any snacks. Time to fix that.

"I'm going to grab something. You all head back—I'll catch up soon," he said, and with a quick word, teleported to the city's most famous dessert shop.

This place was legendary. If he was buying for Koneko, only the best would do.

"Two medium cones, and one of each daily special. All to go, please."

"Of course. Just a moment," the server smiled.

Draconis Yi settled in, content to wait. Koneko would love this.

He didn't have to wait long before a familiar aura brushed against his senses—a presence he knew far too well.

Outside, a taxi pulled up. A girl in a baseball cap and mask stepped out, trying her best to blend in.

…Itsuki Nakano?

He couldn't mistake her—her aura gave her away, and the little details, even under disguise, were clear as day to him.

He raised a hand. "Itsuki."

"G—!?"

Itsuki jumped at the sound of her name, wide-eyed and startled. When she spotted Draconis Yi, she froze, surprise written all over her face.

"Draconis Yi? What are you doing here…?"

"Came for the desserts," he said with a small grin. "You too?"

"Uh, yeah…"

"…Why are you so bundled up?"

"I was going to ask how you recognized me when I'm this undercover…"

Truth was, Itsuki was secretly delighted. She hadn't seen Draconis Yi since their last goodbye, and the air between them had felt heavy ever since.

She remembered what he'd said—that he liked a lot of girls. It stung, but deep down, she wondered: if he could like so many, why not her too?

After all, he was a devil. If they liked each other, wasn't that enough?

Draconis Yi chuckled, oblivious to her thoughts. "I'm a devil, remember? I sensed you while you were still in the taxi. Sit down—since we've run into each other, dessert's on me."

He flagged the server. "One more, biggest size you've got."

He hadn't forgotten—Itsuki's appetite was legendary. Even the largest portion might not be enough.

Itsuki blushed, a little embarrassed. He remembered her so well…

When the dessert arrived, she peeled off her mask and quietly dug in.

Draconis Yi sat across from her, his voice gentle. "How's everyone doing?"

Spoon in hand, Itsuki poked at her treat. "We all… ran away from home."

"…You what?"

Draconis Yi's eyebrow lifted. "Ran away? Why?"

"…Dad wouldn't let us see you anymore. So we decided to move out—all of us."

She looked sheepish. Fighting with their father over a boy wasn't exactly something she wanted to brag about.

Draconis Yi let out a soft laugh. Nakano Maruo must've been stung by their last encounter. Typical dad reaction, really.

But five sisters packing up and leaving? That was bold.

Poor old dad—he'd probably cry himself to sleep.

After a moment, Draconis Yi asked, "Where are you staying now?"

"Ichika's acting gig paid a bit, so she rented a small place for us. We all moved in…"

Draconis Yi frowned. He knew Ichika's pay wasn't much.

"Don't let Ichika carry all the weight."

"We know. We're all pitching in. I even went a whole week without dessert from this place!"

Draconis Yi laughed. "Impressive."

Itsuki just focused on demolishing her giant parfait. Soon, his takeout bag arrived.

"You heading out?" she asked.

"Yeah, time to go."

"Oh… okay…"

She looked reluctant, and Draconis Yi could see it. Since he'd left, she'd felt unsettled, like he might never come back. At home, Miku sometimes seemed lost, too.

They'd all gotten used to having him around—his gentle nudges during study sessions, his quiet explanations, his easy laughter during breaks. It wasn't about his devil powers or the wild world he came from. It was about the happiness he brought just by being there.

"You'll come back, won't you?" Itsuki's voice was barely above a whisper, almost as if she was talking to herself.

"…I told you. The choice is yours."

Draconis Yi smiled softly, reached out, and wiped a bit of cream from the corner of her lips—then licked it from his finger.

Itsuki's cheeks flared red, heart pounding. For a girl as pure as her, that was almost too much.

Even after he left, she sat there, quietly musing.

The choice was theirs, just like Ichika had said. But really, they'd already made up their minds.

Of course… all five felt the same.

Itsuki watched Draconis Yi's retreating figure, whispering to herself:

"I want to be with you."
