"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 216: The Assessment Draws Near

The weekend vanished in a blink. On Monday, Draconis Yi walked into school alongside Rias and the others.

But today, campus buzzed with a different energy—the three-day school festival was kicking off.

Excitement hung in the air. Students dashed about, prepping decorations and rehearsing their acts. Draconis Yi barely made it through the gates before classmates dragged him into the chaos.

No use resisting—someone had to help set up. He took on the job with unexpected patience, stringing banners and arranging chairs. His classmates stared, stunned.

Honestly, most of them expected him to refuse. But he'd agreed without hesitation.

Draconis Yi caught their bewildered looks and couldn't help rolling his eyes.

Did they really think he was some antisocial hermit?

He knew himself well enough. Sure, he avoided pointless socializing—too jaded to bother with small talk—but in every other way, he was perfectly normal.

He could play the part when he needed to, act serious or even flirt if the mood struck. Wasn't that just being human?

People really had the wrong idea about him.

They just didn't get it. Tsk.

The student council coordinated the festival, and Draconis Yi, Rias, and the rest pitched in. But as Draconis Yi helped set up the stage, he spotted someone completely unexpected.

A beautiful girl with black twin-tails stood center stage, decked out in full magical girl cosplay, waving cheerfully to the crowd.

Students passing by greeted her with grins, but not far away, student council president Sona Sitri looked mortified, fighting back embarrassment.

Every time Sona glanced at the twin-tailed girl, she seemed desperate to whisk her away and hide her forever.

Draconis Yi's face went blank. He leaned toward Rias and whispered, "Why is Her Majesty Leviathan here?"

"She's probably visiting her sister," Rias replied quietly.

The magical girl onstage—black hair in twin-tails—was none other than Serafall Leviathan, one of the four Great Demon Lords of the Underworld.

"…She looks like she's having the time of her life," Draconis Yi muttered.

If he hadn't seen it himself, he'd never believe that this bubbly, costumed girl was actually a Demon Lord.

Sona finally snapped, stepping forward and whispering, "Leviathan-sama, could you please stop this…"

"Eh? What's wrong, Sona? I think everyone loves me!"

Serafall pouted, clinging to her sister. "Just a little longer, pleeease?"

Sona just stood there, silent.

Serafall hopped off the stage, bouncing over to Sona with a bright smile.

"Isn't it nice to see your sister? Shouldn't you look happier?"

She leaned in, teasing, "Your cheeks are so red! You're happy to see me, aren't you?"

Sona's face flushed even deeper. She could barely handle Serafall's childish antics, but all she could do was endure.

Rias approached with a gentle smile.

"Serafall-sama, it's good to see you again."

"Oh! Rias~ Long time no see! Are you well?"

"I'm fine, thanks to you." Rias nodded politely. "Did you come to visit Sona?"

"Hehe… but Sona doesn't appreciate it at all. So mean."

Serafall put on a pitiful face, milking the moment.

"…You're obviously here to enjoy the festival," Sona retorted, deadpan.

"Uh… well, not entirely." Serafall grinned. "Actually, I came to deliver a message."

She struck a magical girl pose for emphasis.

"What could be so important that Serafall-sama comes in person?" Rias asked, curious.

"There'll be a negotiation with the Norse gods in the Underworld soon. You two should come watch—good experience for future leaders."

Rias and Sona exchanged glances, eyes sharp. Both nodded seriously.

Then Serafall's gaze flicked to Draconis Yi, and she flashed a mischievous smile.

"Long time no see, Rias's little boyfriend."

"Hello, Serafall-sama." Draconis Yi replied with a chuckle. Rias blushed at Serafall's teasing, but their relationship was no secret anymore. Even her parents had started pestering her to bring Draconis Yi to the Underworld for a proper introduction.

Rias had managed to delay with school as an excuse, but now, with a trip to the Underworld looming, she knew she couldn't avoid it much longer.

Serafall, unfazed by Rias's embarrassment, continued,

"Actually, Sirzechs asked me to give you a heads-up. You need to be ready—the promotion exam is coming up as soon as you get to the Underworld. They've moved it forward just for you!"

Draconis Yi smiled wryly. "So it's the mid-rank devil assessment… Can't I just take the high-rank exam instead?"

"Nope! Moving your mid-rank exam up is already a huge exception."

Serafall's eyes sparkled with amusement.

"Just this has ruffled plenty of feathers among the younger generation. Sirzechs has bent the rules for you several times, so expect challengers—someone's bound to challenge you to a duel. Don't lose, or Lucifer's reputation will take a hit!"

"They really have nothing better to do?" Draconis Yi scoffed.

"They're proud and stubborn—never admit anyone's better."

"…Got it. Thanks for coming in person, Serafall-sama."

Rias spoke softly, "If we go to the Underworld, we probably won't be able to return for a while. We'll wait until summer break to leave. Until then, let's make sure everything in the human world is sorted."

"Understood," everyone echoed.

Draconis Yi's side was quiet—Mai Sakurajima, her sister, and Yor were all busy with their own work, barely sparing him a thought.

The only loose end was the Nakano quintuplets…

According to his inside source, Itsuki, the sisters were all plotting something lately.

Who knew what kind of chaos they'd stir up next?
