Chapter 129 - Chapter 129

Chapter 129: Does Yu Have Someone on the Side?

Three days had passed since Tsunade told Sasuko to wait for notification. Still no word.

Sasuko waited at home, growing increasingly irritable. Was she truly incapable of accomplishing anything without Yu? Did even registering as a genin require his behind-the-scenes maneuvering?

She slumped across the table in frustration.

If she had to rely on Yu even for something this trivial, what independence could she claim? Or perhaps Yu couldn't bear to let go either and had secretly pressured Konoha's leadership?

Just then, a knock sounded at the door.

Sasuko bolted upright and hurried toward the entrance.

Had the notification finally arrived?

She pulled open the door, only to find two unexpected visitors instead.

Two females, one adult and one child, both with silver-white hair and pure white eyes that bore some resemblance to the Hyuga clan yet were distinctly different—delicate bone horns protruded from their heads.

The older woman possessed a cold, aloof temperament, like moonlight over an icy spring. The younger appeared no more than seven or eight years old, timidly clutching the woman's hem.

"Is this Uchiha Yu's residence?" the older woman asked, her voice calm as still water.

Sasuko's guard immediately went up.

Why would strange women with a child come looking for Yu? Could it be... was this Yu's illegitimate daughter? The thought made her heart clench.

No wonder all her efforts over the years had failed to move him—he'd already had someone on the side this whole time?

Though her emotions churned like turbulent seas, Sasuko maintained surface composure, deciding to probe first. "Who are you?"

"I am Otsutsuki Kaguya. This is my daughter."

Sasuko's expression flickered uncertainly, various speculations tumbling through her mind.

Over all these years, this was the first woman to actively seek out Yu, bringing her daughter, speaking with the tone of someone familiar...

Suddenly, her expression turned cold. "I'm sorry, you have the wrong place." She slammed the door shut.

Kaguya stood in place, confused.

She'd followed the location written on the scroll precisely—had she truly made a mistake? But there seemed to be only this one residence nearby.

Yoya took a while to process what had happened.

She pressed her palm helplessly against her forehead—Sasuko had clearly misunderstood.

Having observed Sasuko for years, Yoya knew perfectly well the girl harbored special feelings toward Uchiha Yu.

She'd reminded Mother to mind human etiquette when they came, but had forgotten to warn her about appropriate phrasing. This newly born child's body made complex thinking difficult, and those convoluted thousand-year-old memories often left her half a beat behind.

"Mother," Yoya said quietly, "she probably misunderstood our identities..."

Kaguya remained puzzled. "Misunderstood? Didn't we follow the address?"

Yoya opened her mouth but didn't know how to explain these complicated human emotions.

She could only tug at her mother's sleeve. "Mother, let's wait outside for now."

"Also, later, you should say it like this..."

Meanwhile, inside, Sasuko leaned against the door, her mind in chaos.

That child appeared around seven or eight years old. If she truly was Yu's daughter, the timeline fit perfectly.

The more she thought about it, the more suspicious it seemed. Her nails unconsciously dug into her palms.

Sasuko locked the door firmly and stalked toward the study, her expression dark.

At that moment, Yu sat at his desk reviewing scrolls. He'd already sensed Kaguya and her daughter standing outside but couldn't understand why they hadn't entered.

The study door burst open violently. Sasuko stood in the doorway without knocking or speaking, simply staring at him fixedly.

Yu set down his scroll, somewhat surprised. Normally Sasuko knocked first and only entered after receiving permission.

When he looked up and saw her expression clearly, he couldn't help but freeze—that usually bright face was now covered with storm clouds, her eyes churning with a darkness he'd never seen before.

"Sasuko, what's wrong?" he asked gently.

"Yu," Sasuko's voice was cold, "you haven't been fooling around behind my back, have you?"

Yu's brow furrowed. "Why would you say that, Sasuko?"

"A mother and daughter just came to the door looking for you." Sasuko approached step by step, hands clenched tight. "Silver hair, white eyes, with horns... The child looks about seven or eight years old."

She stopped before the desk, leaning forward slightly. "Timewise, it coincides perfectly with when I was at the Academy."

Yu immediately understood the situation. It seemed Kaguya had arrived as agreed but triggered this misunderstanding.

Sasuko's hand pressed against the desktop. "So... you actually prefer the mature type?"

Yu sighed helplessly. "Sasuko, calm down first."

"What? Did I hit the mark?" Sasuko suddenly leaned in close, almost pressing against him. "All these years I've tried so hard to get close to you, yet you've never acknowledged my feelings. Now you've gone and brought home a child..."

Yu watched Sasuko's angry expression, somewhat baffled.

He didn't understand why Sasuko was reacting so intensely, nor what exactly Kaguya had said to her.

He'd written it clearly in the scroll: have Kaguya go to Tsunade first to process genin certification with his letter of introduction, then come to the house to meet Sasuko as an arranged teammate. And as the Chakra Ancestor, Kaguya surely possessed knowledge of many lost jutsu secrets that could help him optimize Impure World Reincarnation—this benefited both Sasuko and himself.

Yu set down his scroll, tone measured. "Why don't we invite them in to clear this up face-to-face? I'm also very curious what they said to create such a misunderstanding."

Sasuko bit her lip, actually harboring a shred of hope—what if she'd misunderstood? The feelings she'd guarded for so many years couldn't just be stolen by some suddenly appearing stranger.

"Fine." She took a deep breath. "Let them come in and explain themselves clearly."

Yu rose and headed toward the door, Sasuko following close behind.

He opened the door. Kaguya and her daughter still stood waiting outside.

Both sides looked at each other for a moment, the atmosphere slightly stiff.

Not until Yoya quietly squeezed her mother's palm did Kaguya speak according to their rehearsed script:

"Pardon the intrusion. At the Fifth Hokage's request, I'm Sasuko's teammate, here to deliver the genin registration notice."
