"???" Dugu Bo strode closer, seeing Yang Yunhai still sound asleep, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
"He can actually sleep like this?" Even he was impressed.
"But his body underwater seems to be glowing… looks like this spring really does promote absorption of the medicinal power." His heart was filled with surprise.
Yang Yunhai's body from the neck down was submerged in the spring, surrounded by a faint blue glow. Though obscured by the red and blue waters, the light reflecting on the surface was still visible.
"I'll leave a note. The tools and food will be placed on the bank. I'd better head out to make preparations for the soul bones."
Shaking his head, he walked to an empty spot in the frigid zone, pulled items from his Soul Tool, set them down, and left a written note atop them before striding away.
About an hour later, the water rippled as Yang Yunhai slowly awoke.
"Splaaaash." Glancing around, he quickly swam to shore and kicked himself onto land.
"My soul power really is just like Tang San in the original—it didn't increase at all. But my physical strength and body toughness have improved a lot." Throwing a few punches, Yang Yunhai sighed inwardly.
Then, as if recalling something, he spread out his hand.
With a shimmering light, the Blue Silver Grass martial soul appeared.
Its color was now darker than before—shifting from azure-blue to a deeper navy shade. The faint golden lines along the leaf veins had darkened as well, and with the deeper base color, they shone like filigree inlaid with gold.
Running his fingers along it, he found its toughness clearly improved.
"Wasn't this supposed to not affect the martial soul?" Yang Yunhai muttered in surprise, then quickly channeled lightning. Instantly, golden arcs of electricity crackled across it. With a thought, frost spread across the blades, followed by a red hue of heat.
"Now that's better! Just like Tang San, while the martial soul itself hasn't gained ice or fire attributes, my soul power has. I can freely switch between them, and when I infuse it into the martial soul, it gains those elements. How is this any different from directly having an ice-fire dual attribute martial soul? Why didn't Tang San fully explore this in the original story?"
"Tangling with fire-infused vines to burn enemies. Ice-infused vines hardened for control, freezing opponents. Or stabbing vines into a target to inject fire poison or cold poison directly. Isn't that far stronger than the basic toxins absorbed from ordinary soul rings?"
"How hard is that to figure out?"
"Sure, in the beginning the properties will be weak since the herbs take time to fully integrate, but even early on, this has great potential. Hardened ice vine thorns could even serve as hidden weapons."
"And later, once the medicine fully merges, with all the strength absorbed, wouldn't that be broken? Blue Silver Emperor bloodline awakening, supreme life attribute, plus soul power naturally imbued with powerful ice and fire elements. That's unbeatable."
"Instead of properly developing his martial soul, he obsessed over those outdated hidden weapons from his past life… I'll never get it." He shook his head, withdrew the martial soul, dressed, and jogged toward the pile of supplies he had noticed earlier.
He grabbed Dugu Bo's note and read it.
The contents were simple: Dugu Bo would be away a few days preparing soul bones. He had left alchemy tools and enough food for Yang Yunhai to survive here for some time. The herbs in the valley could be picked freely, but he was warned not to wander outside. There were poison arrays, and nearby dwelled soul beasts of the thousand- and even ten-thousand-year level—far too dangerous.
"If that's the case, I still have time. I'll take the Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew first." With that thought, he packed everything into his Soul Tool and walked off.
Soon he arrived at a verdant herb, plucked it carefully, and sat cross-legged nearby.
He lifted it, tilted it slightly, and let the dewdrops collected on its leaves roll into his mouth. He closed his eyes, circulating his soul power.
A soft hum, and his right leg glowed with faint blue light again.
Hours later, Yang Yunhai opened his eyes. His pupils flashed gold for an instant before fading.
Fixing his gaze in the distance, he blinked, then shook his head with a sigh.
"So it only boosted my eyesight and spiritual power. No Fiery Eyes of Truth or x-ray vision. What a pity, that would've been handy."
"Still, I should be content." Muttering, he stood.
Looking up, he saw the fog above tinted orange-yellow—the sun was already setting.
His body, however, was brimming with energy, not tired or hungry.
Rubbing his chin, he walked toward a patch of dark bamboo. When he drew closer, he examined it carefully.
It stood three meters tall, arm-thick, its surface a glossy black-green so deep it appeared pitch-black. Its leaves were broad yet thin, sharp-edged like blades.
"Pity I can't use it." Yang Yunhai couldn't help but sigh. "The Black Jade Divine Bamboo is perfect for me."
"Yun… this… this one you can eat."
A silver-bell-like girl's voice suddenly rang beside his ear.
"?? Who!" Yang Yunhai jolted upright, scanning both sides.
The next instant, his right leg chilled, his soul power raced uncontrollably into it, and gathered in his Blue Silver Emperor right leg bone.
Startled, Yang Yunhai looked down.
"Could it be the soul of the Blue Silver Emperor awakening?!" His mind raced.
"Was it the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well? Or the Infernal Delicate Apricot and Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass I ate? The well's dual energies can stimulate plant growth. The Blue Silver Emperor, even as a soul form, is still a plant-type beast—maybe it could also be affected. Or maybe it was the Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew, boosting my spiritual power? That could trigger it too…"
While he thought, a tenth of his soul power drained away.
Then, before his stunned eyes, a dazzling blue radiance burst from his thigh, shooting into the air.
He turned just in time to see the light hover a meter away, suspended less than two meters high.
The glow expanded, forcing him to squint.
"Pff—cough!" He sputtered, turning away with a hand over his mouth.
"She's not inferior to Zhu Zhuqing, even taller… but why does she look so young, about my age? And damn, that figure is cheating. Also—how can she just take my soul power to form a body!?" His mind was flooded with questions.
"Miss… you're… exposed, maybe cover up?" he said carefully, choosing polite words.
"Ah?" The soft, timid voice carried confusion.
A pale figure drifted close, slim hands reaching out as if to embrace him.
"???" Yang Yunhai's eyes flicked sideways. He kept his face turned away but thrust out his right hand quickly.
"Stop, stop!"
'What's wrong with this girl? Did lightning fry her brain before?'
Before he could move, a cool sensation filled his palm. The touch was real—soft, yielding.
"What the—?!" Yang Yunhai jerked his hand back like it was burned.
"Oh…" the silvery voice replied faintly.
"This is clothing." Yang Yunhai tugged at his collar and pointed at his exposed neck to demonstrate.
