Before long, they arrived at an open clearing.
Yang Yunhai laid out the Soul Bones they had obtained on a carpet, including those found in the enemies' Soul Tools.
"No wonder they're one of the Upper Three Sects—so damn wealthy!" Dugu Bo couldn't help clicking his tongue. In sight were a total of 18 Soul Bones, most of them 10,000 year class, the bulk coming from Yu Yuanzhen's Soul Tool. He didn't need to guess: the Soul Bones collected by the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan were most likely kept by Yu Yuanzhen himself. As clan patriarch and a rank 95 Super Douluo, it was reasonable for him to safeguard them personally.
With the clan's constant infighting, if they had been stored in some so-called treasury, they would've likely been pilfered.
Still, the clan's headquarters should have more, though not of such quality or age as these.
Lightning-attribute Soul Beasts were incredibly rare, let alone ones that dropped Soul Bones. Even with their long heritage, the only lightning-attribute Soul Bone the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan had was the wisdom head bone left behind by the clan founder. The rest came mostly from sub-dragon strength-type Soul Beasts.
Over half of the Soul Bones before them were power-type.
'No wonder in the original timeline Spirit Hall suddenly had so many Titled Douluo appear. Thinking about it now, it's not impossible that Bibi Dong distributed some of these 10,000 year Soul Bones taken from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan to older Soul Douluo under her command, pushing them over the threshold.' Yang Yunhai secretly sighed.
"Old poison, you've really struck gold this time." Chrysanthemum Douluo's tone carried a bit of envy.
From Yu Yuanzhen's body dropped three Soul Bones: a left arm bone around 65,000 years, a right arm bone of 70,000 years, and a wisdom head bone even more exaggerated—80,000 years. In his Soul Tool was also a 50,000 year right leg bone, apparently from a poisonous spider-type Soul Beast.
Among the eight Soul Douluo elders that accompanied him, the Great Elder dropped a 40,000 year power-type left leg bone, also of excellent quality.
All of these were suitable for Dugu Bo.
Of course, there were also some that suited him, but they had made an agreement before—this time Dugu Bo would be given priority to complete his set.
"A pity, your left arm is already occupied by another Soul Bone. Otherwise, you could've had three Soul Bones over 50,000 years." Chrysanthemum Douluo shook his head slightly. "Still, this left leg bone, though not quite 50,000 years, is very much worth absorbing."
"No problem." Yang Yunhai smiled. "I have a way."
"What way?" Dugu Bo asked curiously.
"Amputation and replacement," Yang Yunhai replied. "With Yiner channeling the life force from my right leg bone, there'll be no issue."
"Then let's begin," Chrysanthemum Douluo said quickly. When it came to his disciple, he had absolute faith. He stretched out his hand, manifesting his Martial Soul into a golden cleaver.
"Old Guan, I have reason to suspect you're taking this chance to get revenge." Dugu Bo's eyes widened.
"Stop whining. Give me your arm," Chrysanthemum Douluo said flatly. "The sooner you finish absorbing these Soul Bones, the sooner we can move on. Yu Yuanzhen may have left on an open-ended mission, but it won't be too long before they expect him back."
"Fine, you're right." Gritting his teeth, Dugu Bo stretched out his left arm.
The blade fell in one stroke, severing his arm at the shoulder.
Yang Yunhai immediately picked up Yu Yuanzhen's left arm bone and set it to the wound. The bone hovered into place as he pressed his palm against Dugu Bo's shoulder.
Yiner promptly channeled the life force from his right leg bone, pouring it into Dugu Bo's body.
Closing his eyes, Dugu Bo gritted his teeth, but soon his pale complexion regained its color.
Before the astonished eyes of everyone, flesh and blood rapidly spread over the Soul Bone, and a fresh arm grew out.
Within two quarters of an hour, the arm was fully restored—though Dugu Bo continued the absorption process.
"Teacher, Uncle, would you two like to absorb one as well?" Yang Yunhai asked.
"No need," Chrysanthemum Douluo shook his head. "Soul Bones under 50,000 years hold little meaning for us." He pointed at a 30,000 year left leg bone. "This one has decent quality. Let Yan Yan absorb it."
"Yes," Yang Yunhai nodded. "Absorbing it now will help her prepare for over-age absorption of her fifth soul ring later."
"Alright." Dugu Yan nodded, accepting the Soul Bone before sitting cross-legged to begin.
"Disciple, you should also absorb that wisdom head bone," Chrysanthemum Douluo added.
"Understood." Yang Yunhai picked up the 80,000 year wisdom head bone, but prudently walked some distance away to avoid triggering the heavens' lightning tribulation before beginning absorption.
"As for the rest of these, keep them with Old Poison." Chrysanthemum Douluo glanced at Ghost Douluo. "Qian Renxue may have promised a 50,000 year Soul Bone as reward, but I don't trust Bibi Dong not to covet them."
Ghost Douluo nodded.
Time passed—three full days.
On the third day, Yang Yunhai finally opened his eyes. Around him, the air was thick with lightning elements, arcs of electricity occasionally flashing.
Fortunately, the sky remained clear; all the lightning gathered within three meters of his body.
'My spiritual power has increased significantly, and my soul power has become more condensed.' He was inwardly delighted as he stood.
"What's the Soul Bone skill?" Dugu Bo asked.
Yang Yunhai thought a moment, then answered: "It's similar to lightning element control. Compared to before, I can sense lightning in the air more clearly, with greater range, and I can summon it more easily and quickly. In combat, that means shorter charge-up time and more compressed soul power, giving my soul skills much greater force."
"Exactly why Yu Yuanzhen could unleash such powerful lightning even without many lightning soul rings," Chrysanthemum Douluo remarked.
Yang Yunhai chuckled, turning to Dugu Bo. "Grandpa, how about you? Finished absorbing yours?"
"Yes." Dugu Bo raised his chin. "And with some luck, I've broken through to rank 96."
"Grandpa, congratulations!" Yang Yunhai laughed.
"Not bad." Dugu Bo sighed. "After rank 95, every single level is incredibly difficult. I only advanced one rank after absorbing four Soul Bones. Further progress won't come easily."
"Stop bragging," Chrysanthemum Douluo rolled his eyes. "Think about how much weaker you were just two years ago. You should be laughing with joy."
"Enough talk, we should get moving." Dugu Bo stood. "After we wipe out the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, I'll need time to stabilize my new power. If I adapt fully, I might even push one more rank higher."
Chrysanthemum Douluo snorted, standing as well.
Yang Yunhai looked to Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan, pulling one by each hand. Zhu Zhuqing had reached soul rank 46, Dugu Yan soul rank 48—each had risen by one level after absorbing their Soul Bones. Their future prospects were vast.
In front of him stood three mighty figures—powerhouses he had helped shape himself. Pride welled up inside him, and he couldn't help but smile.
Before long, they brought out a spare carriage and horses from their Soul Tools and set out again.
