Chapter 239 - Chapter 239: Why Did the Soul Ring Turn Green?

Two drops of blue liquid slid down the human-like face of the Blue Silver King, its tone filled with excitement. "Nearly 20 years have passed since we last felt the Emperor's presence. Today, we are finally no longer children without a mother."

"Emperor, please accept the worship of your subjects."

'Damn it, I'm a man.' Yang Yunhai's mouth twitched. He really couldn't understand the Blue Silver Clan's interpretation of the word "mother." After all, plants mostly reproduced through pollination; they didn't exactly need to be masters of any "stick techniques."

Of course, human-shaped ones were different.

Just as he was lost in thought—

Buzz.

A wave of incomparably powerful energy suddenly surged from all directions. Faint blue light drifted out from every blade of Blue Silver Grass in the forest, forming an ocean of blue that surged and converged toward him. In an instant, Yang Yunhai felt himself filled to the brim.

"This…"

Behind him, Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan were stunned, as were the three Titled Douluo.

Living for so long, none of them had ever seen a spectacle like this.

"Yiner, return to the soul bone first." Yang Yunhai clenched his teeth. "Grandfather, Teacher, you all should step back."

"Alright." Yiner immediately retreated into the soul bone. Zhu Zhuqing, Dugu Yan, and the others quickly withdrew.

The next second, soul rings emerged beneath Yang Yunhai's feet one after another—yellow, yellow, purple, black—four in total, rhythmically pulsing. Countless blue lights poured into the first three rings, dyeing them completely azure.

At the same time, crystalline blue radiance enveloped his body, Blue Silver Grass sprouting from his skin. His originally cyan hair rapidly deepened to a dark blue streaked faintly with gold.

"…" Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan's lips parted slightly. Dugu Bo, Chrysanthemum Douluo, and Ghost Douluo widened their eyes, utterly dumbfounded.

Time ticked by. No one knew how long had passed before the four rings slowly faded. The countless azure lights converged faster and faster, forming a blue halo at his chest, which gradually solidified and darkened toward black.

"Good heavens, soul rings can condense like this!?" Dugu Bo's eyes widened.

"The world truly is full of wonders." Chrysanthemum Douluo couldn't help but sigh.

Before their eyes, as the black ring at Yang Yunhai's chest took shape, a wave of refreshing life energy rippled outward. The surrounding Blue Silver Grass swayed and grew wildly, tripling in size within moments.

Then, the black ring took on flecks of green, turning translucent and increasingly verdant.

"What pure life energy!" The Blue Silver King was astonished. This was the first time it had felt such concentrated and pure vitality.

"???" Dugu Bo and the others were also shocked.

"Why… why is my fifth soul ring turning green?" Yang Yunhai was bewildered.

Before their eyes, his fifth soul ring darkened from black to deep green, then to bright emerald, even though its age was still far from 100,000 years.

Buzz.

A strange pulse rippled through his mind. His body felt warm, drowsiness crashing over him. His head dipped forward, but the surrounding Blue Silver Grass, now taller than he was, propped him upright.

Yang Yunhai tried to shake it off, but then his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul manifested on his chest.

And then—mutation struck.

Swish, swish, swish.

The Blue Silver Grass suddenly surged skyward, along with those sprouting from his skin. Golden roots extended downward, wrapping around his body and burrowing deep into the earth.

Crack, crack.

Vines twisted and thickened, encasing him completely and lifting him into the air. Within seconds, he was carried ten meters up, his vision going black as sleep consumed him.

Meanwhile, the vine-formed "tree" soared to 30 meters high, nourished by the azure lights.

Buzz.

A golden ripple burst from where Yang Yunhai had disappeared, spreading rapidly. Wherever it passed, plants turned golden as if bathed in sacred light.

"This is…?!" The Blue Silver King trembled. In that instant, it felt a strange power awakening within itself, compelling it to act.

The next moment, it began drawing in heaven and earth's essence madly, refining it into pure life energy, which streamed out as golden motes, feeding the golden tree. At the same time, it felt its own life ascending, pulled toward a higher realm.

"Bless our Emperor!" the Blue Silver King cried out, trembling with excitement. "The Emperor is ascending to a higher level! He needs our help!"

"Children of the Emperor, use the new ability bestowed upon me! Offer your strength to the Emperor!"

It didn't even need to command them. Wherever the golden ripples reached, every blade of Blue Silver Grass greedily absorbed spiritual energy from the world, converting it into pure life energy, and sent it flowing toward the golden tree.

And not only the Blue Silver Grass—all plants in the forest joined in.

In an instant, the blue sea turned into a golden ocean. Countless golden motes surged toward the towering tree at the center.

Crack, crack.

The golden tree grew faster, piercing the clouds. Golden waves swept outward endlessly.

Hundreds of meters. Thousands. Tens of thousands. The golden tide spread far beyond sight.

As more and more golden motes gathered, the tree broke 100 meters in height, its trunk over ten meters thick. Plants fused into its form, including the Blue Silver King itself, becoming part of the ancient golden patterns carved into its bark.

The Blue Silver King no longer spoke—it felt utterly merged with its lord, like lying within a mother's embrace, life ascending in ecstasy. Around it, the rest of the Blue Silver Clan radiated joy.

Twenty meters away, Dugu Bo and the others were stunned speechless. Above them, the sky itself was gilded by the vast tree, its canopy shimmering with golden leaves glowing in rainbow-colored halos. Branches bristled with golden barbs, drawing in torrents of light.

"Old Guan, Old Gui, let's move. We can't let outsiders break in." Dugu Bo urged in a low voice.

Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo nodded and leapt upward.

As they struck the golden sea, bliss flooded their bodies, every inch of skin tingling with vitality. They exchanged a glance, fully aware of the immense benefits, yet pressed onward.

Soon they reached the crown of the tree, marveling as hundreds of meters around them had turned into a golden ocean. Plants as far as the eye could see glowed faintly gold.

"I'll check the range." Dugu Bo's tone was grave as he soared higher.

Chirp, chirp, chirp.

Bird-type soul beasts flocked overhead. On the ground, beasts of all sizes—including 10,000 year ones—moved toward the golden tree.

"Honored guest, do not worry. They mean no harm." The Blue Silver King's voice echoed.

Dugu Bo exhaled in relief, climbing higher until the scale became clear. Everywhere he looked, gold stretched for more than ten kilometers.

'Good thing no humans live nearby.' He relaxed slightly and flew back.

By the time he returned, the tree had surpassed 150 meters, its canopy spanning 50 meters, shrouded in radiant rainbows.

Soul beasts gathered below, silent and reverent, like loyal subjects guarding their Emperor.

"What in the world…?"

The closer he drew, the more Dugu Bo felt his body rejuvenated, invigorated beyond belief.

And then—

Rumble, rumble, rumble.

The clouds churned, thunder rolling as the sky darkened. Above, storm clouds massed, yet below, the golden tree remained the radiant center of the world.
