Yang Yunhai nodded. "The Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud involves Sea God Island's Sea God Inheritance. I want Yan Zi to try it."
Qian Renxue's expression changed in shock. "Yun, what about you? Don't you want to become a god?"
If they all became gods, then the family could truly stay together forever.
"Of course I do. I want to be with you all forever." Yang Yunhai smiled. "But my Martial Soul is of the Life and Lightning attributes. The Sea God's divine position isn't suitable for me to inherit. Don't worry, Xue'er. I already have another plan, and I'm fairly confident in it."
"Do you need my help?" Qian Renxue asked again.
"Of course." Yang Yunhai conveyed via voice transmission: "In fact, helping you become a god is part of it."
The local gods of Douluo Star, who had ascended through faith, must be reclaimed, and as many others as possible as well. The more allies, the stronger the power.
"This matter involves great secrecy, Xue'er. Once you start the God Inheritance, I won't be able to tell you anything about it—because the gods will know."
"Then is it dangerous?" Qian Renxue asked urgently.
"Don't worry, I won't do anything I'm not confident in." Yang Yunhai chuckled. "Besides, I've already thought of fallback plans. Nothing will happen. I just want to gamble for something greater while staying cautious."
Qian Renxue's expression eased. She nodded firmly. "Yun, no matter what you do, I'll always be with you."
Yang Yunhai gently nodded, smiling. "Let's finish our meal."
"Mm." Qian Renxue resumed eating.
Not long after, once the table was cleared, Yang Yunhai spent some time with her before finally departing.
Returning to her chamber, Qian Renxue sat at her desk to write a letter. Afterward, she changed into male attire and handed it to Snake Lance Douluo.
Late at night, after finishing cultivation, Yang Yunhai drifted into sleep.
Yiner looked at him, then touched her stomach, her eyes flashing with sorrow before firming with determination.
"I really hope that day will come soon." With a quiet sigh, she adjusted her posture and closed her eyes.
The next day, Chrysanthemum Douluo returned with the required rare herbs. Yang Yunhai immediately refined them into medicine and hurried to the palace. He first formally checked the pulse of the so-called Crown Princess, leaving behind a reserve of stabilizing medicine. Even this reserve was leagues above anything available on the market. After a few instructions, he went to Qian Renxue's side chamber to deliver the refined prescription.
The tender time he spent there needs no elaboration. He stayed a long while before leaving.
Not long after Yang Yunhai's departure, Xue Ye received word.
"Well, he's a new father, after all." He could understand why "Xue Qinghe" sought Yang Yunhai's help.
He fully supported the move. Using the pretext of a pregnant consort to strengthen ties with Yang Yunhai and build rapport was indeed a wise approach.
Smiling faintly, he resumed reading.
Several days later, in Spirit City's Worship Hall.
Qian Daoliu received a letter.
The very first line—"Grandpa, I am pregnant."
His face changed drastically, and he shot up from his meditation mat.
Reading further:
"It is Yang Yunhai's. Though the circumstances were unusual, it was indeed I who forced him. To inherit the Heaven Dou throne, I require an heir. As the only daughter of the Qian family, I must also ensure our bloodline continues. Across the entire continent, in my eyes, only he is worthy. I like him. He is the first man whose intellect and strength truly convinced me. Everything was my choice."
"So, Grandpa, please don't blame him."
"Moreover, we are truly together now. He is a man of responsibility, and I feel very happy."
"Grandpa, the Heaven Dou infiltration plan is at its most critical stage. I cannot withdraw. A substitute is only a substitute—I can't fully trust him."
"Grandpa, with my condition now inconvenient, I ask you to send a few trusted attendants to accompany me."
"Xue'er."
"…" Qian Daoliu was speechless. What kind of mess was this? Forced—by his own granddaughter!
If it were anyone else, he would have cursed them already. But since it was his granddaughter, he had no words.
"Ahh." With a sigh, he crushed the letter in his hand and vanished in a flash of golden light.
Days later, the East Palace of Heaven Dou's royal city bustled with new female attendants—several discreetly placed in the side chamber.
"Xue'er, tell me honestly. What really happened between you and him?" Qian Daoliu personally arrived, his brow furrowed as he looked at his granddaughter in loose robes, her stomach already slightly rounded. "With your temperament, you'd never do something so improper without reason."
On his way here, he'd grown more suspicious the more he thought, especially about that phrase—unusual circumstances.
Qian Renxue lowered her head. After internal struggle, she finally spoke. "It was the Cockscomb Phoenix Sunflower. After eating it… the fire was overwhelming." Her voice was faint as a mosquito's, then she raised it slightly. "But Grandpa, from how he acted then, he clearly didn't know."
"If I'm not mistaken, Dugu Bo and Elder Chrysanthemum deliberately withheld this information."
"As far as I know, Dugu Yan was also forced into it by Dugu Bo's drugging. So it's very likely this was Dugu Bo's scheme."
"Those two old fools dared to plot against even me!" Qian Daoliu's eyes blazed with fury.
"Grandpa, you don't need to blame them too much." Qian Renxue hurriedly added. "If not for Dugu Bo and Elder Chrysanthemum, I might never have realized my true feelings for him."
"Nor would I ever have come together with him."
That much was true. With Xue'er's pride, if not for such an accident, she might never have confessed her feelings. After all, he already had companions, and she was older—her face wouldn't allow it. Qian Daoliu glanced at his granddaughter, sighing inwardly.
Still, the thought of his granddaughter being schemed against by Dugu Bo made his chest tight. He rose. "Xue'er, don't worry. Grandpa knows what to do."
"Stay here and rest well. I'll go deal with something and be back soon." With that, he vanished in a streak of golden light.
"A good lesson will keep them from trying again." Qian Renxue smiled faintly.
From what she knew, Ning Fengzhi was eager to marry off his daughter. It was only a matter of time before he came knocking on Dugu Bo's door.
That very night, in the back mountain of Yunhai Academy—
"Yun, someone is coming. I can't see through their strength." Yiner quickly retreated into Yang Yunhai's spiritual sea, giving a warning.
After much practice, Yang Yunhai had finally mastered the knack of entering his spiritual sea. Yiner had moved in there, living far more comfortably now.
Yang Yunhai's eyes snapped open as he activated his Blue Silver Domain to scan the area.
'That outfit… that golden hair…' could it be Qian Daoliu?! His neck shrank, but he forced himself up.
"Yun, what's wrong?" Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan stirred awake, concerned.
"It should be Qian Daoliu. Stay in the room, don't come out." Yang Yunhai said, heading for the door.
The two exchanged glances, then obediently stayed inside—but crept to the door to listen.
"Grandson-in-law, what's going on?" At the corridor, Dugu Bo opened his door. On the other side, Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo emerged as well.
"A guest has come." Yang Yunhai said, heading to the main hall.
"A guest?" The three exchanged confused looks and followed.
The next instant, Dugu Bo and Chrysanthemum Douluo both stiffened in shock, instinctively turning pale. Ghost Douluo remained calm.
"So it really was you two old bastards!" In the center of the hall, golden light surged, revealing a tall, imposing figure.
"Greetings, Grandfather." Yang Yunhai greeted steadily, bowing with composure.
With a child on the way, he had nothing to fear.
