Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 The Beginning of the New York Night Dungeon

New York Park.

A thin layer of transparent ice floated on the surface of the central lake, sparkling in the sunlight.

On the wooden chairs by the lake, a white youth and a Chinese teenager sat side by side.

Captain America, Steve Rogers, looked at Xi Nian sideways in a teasing tone and said, "Thank you for not shouting just now, otherwise you might have been surrounded by onlookers again."

"That's not what I want to see either. I don't like attracting too much attention." Xi Nian shrugged and then asked curiously, "Captain, you're not dead yet?"

"It was just dug out from the ice in the Arctic Ocean not long ago." Steve spread his hands.

Perhaps Steve and Xi Nian didn't think the other was special, so they chatted with each other tacitly and naturally.

"You just said you don't like attracting too much attention." Steve sighed, "In my time, everyone wanted everyone to focus on them. Has this generation of young people changed?"

"Times have changed, Captain."

Xi Nian wanted to complain about this, but he finally changed his tone to: "In fact, the intensity with which people are seeking attention now is definitely more exaggerated than in your era."

"I don't want to draw attention to myself. I simply prefer a peaceful and quiet daily life."

After hearing what Xinian said, Steve's young and handsome face was obviously stunned.

"Captain, I personally want to ask you a question." Xi Nian asked curiously: "If you were given another chance, would you rather be an ordinary person or a superhero?"

"this..."

Steve paused, as if stumped by Xi Nian's question.

After a moment, Steve whispered, "I thought, after being a hero, I can be an ordinary person. Unfortunately, it's too late now."

He clearly looked like a young man in his early twenties, but now, the helplessness and loneliness on his face made him look like a centenarian.

However, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with calling him a "centenarian".

Xi Nian vaguely understood what Steve wanted to express.

As a superhero, it is mostly for the world; as an ordinary person, it must be for someone.

But when this world is still there but that person is gone, many things lose their meaning of existence.

"Why do you think about such a question?" Steve looked at Xi Nian puzzledly.

"Nothing, just a sudden thought." Xi Nian shook his head.

This problem will also be the biggest problem he will have to face in his future life.

The choice my aunt mentioned also comes from here.

Extraordinary, ordinary people.

A difference of one thought.

"Xi Nian!" "Senior!"

Suddenly, two voices called out from behind. Xi Nian turned around and saw that it was Gwen and Kara.

How did they find here?

"Kid." Steve suddenly patted Xi Nian's shoulder and said meaningfully, "As someone who has been through this, I want to remind you to cherish the present. Also, take care of your health."

"Captain, you misunderstood."

The corners of Xi Nian's mouth twitched, wondering why Captain America was always so frivolous.

"Captain, see you again sometime." He waved his hand, stood up from his chair, and walked towards Gwen and the others with his backpack.

Steve made an OK sign.

"Xinian, who were you talking to just now?" Gwen looked at the chair in the distance curiously.

Xi Nian also looked back, but Captain America was no longer on the wooden chair by the lake.

Xi Nian said casually: "We met on the road and chatted for a while."

"Really?" Gwen blinked, doubtful, but did not ask any further questions.

Kara next to him looked thoughtful.

Xi Nian and his group continued shopping and having fun, but when they came to their senses it was already dark.

After nightfall, New York, the city that never sleeps, becomes even more vibrant.

For young boys and girls who are just beginning to fall in love, night is the best time to create miracles.

Especially when traveling, it is a good excuse to take a break for one night in a foreign place.

This is the perfect time and place!

Inside a local hotel in Queens, New York.

"What? There's only one room left?" Xi Nian frowned as he asked at the front desk. After thinking for a moment, he decisively took out his bank card and slapped it on the table: "Then let's open one!"

"Xi Nian, this is not good." Behind him, Gwen's ears turned red. This was still too exciting and bold for her.

"Senior." Kara shook hands awkwardly, looking as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.

"What are you thinking?" Xi Nian scratched his head and arranged: "You two will stay here tonight. I'll go to a nearby street and find another hotel to rest."

The two beautiful girls were once again dumbfounded by the unexpected path and ending.

When the hotel receptionist saw this scene, he opened his mouth wide, not knowing what to say.

Please, be a human being!

After arranging the accommodations for his childhood sweetheart Gwen and schoolmate Kara, Xinian couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. Carrying a backpack with a little orange cat's head occasionally sticking out of it, he walked along the street outside the hotel entrance looking for a place to stay.

Under the night sky, neon lights flicker.

The hustle and bustle of traffic on the busy streets.

Xi Nian joined the crowd and walked at the same corner of the same street.

In the dark, damp, rancid alley, a pool of unidentified, still water on the ground suddenly began to stir. The viscous, black, gelatinous liquid, as if alive, slithered and moved silently to a dark corner, as if lurking and watching those passing on the street outside.

"Is there a human physique suitable for parasitism?"

"I can't hold on any longer..."

The unidentified creature whispered in a restless and hoarse voice. It had no actual limbs or brain, just a ball of black liquid, and no one knew where the words came from.

Just then, a young boy with a schoolbag on his back passed by the street outside the alley.

The black liquid creature suddenly moved violently, and chased Xinian madly and quickly along the wall of the alley.

puff!

Xi Nian staggered while walking on the street. He looked back in surprise and felt someone gently pushing his back.

However, there was no one behind him.

"Is it an illusion?" Xinian muttered to himself. He didn't notice that inside the backpack he was carrying, a pair of cat eyes suddenly stared at a certain part of Xinian's body.

Very quickly.

Xi Nian found a second hotel not far from where Gwen and the others were staying. The hotel door was designed with a revolving sliding door. Xi Nian stepped forward and reached out to push the revolving door, but just as he entered a built-in space of the revolving door, his body suddenly trembled violently.

A strange feeling from the inside out filled my heart.

"What's going on?" Xi Nian opened his eyes wide, confused. He looked at his hands in surprise, only to see his body and the clothes he was wearing melting rapidly like a snowman in summer! Countless black liquids fell to the ground, sticky and connected to the body with strings.

Rolling!

In an instant, Xi Nian melted into a pool of black liquid and fell to the ground along with the schoolbag he was carrying!
