Dunn got out of the car after saying that leaving Caesar stunned in the carriage.
After coming to his senses, Caesar carefully observed the details of his body and sure enough just as Dunn had said, his fingernails and hair had been meticulously trimmed.
Sirius had not sent servants to look after them, and the original owner had been insane all day, so it could only have been his sister who did it.
Looking at his clean fingernails Caesar felt a warmth flowing in his chest.
He couldn't tell if it was the original Caesar's gratitude towards his sister or his own appreciation for good human nature as a modern person—but no matter the reason it made him feel a strong fondness for that lovely and persistent little girl.
When this incident is over if he can still live with Cecilia, he must treat her well.
Caesar said to himself in his heart.
Looking up, the passengers from the other carriage had also disembarked.
The brown-eyed Nighthawks walked in front, with Cecilia and the policewoman following closely behind.
Caesar noticed that the young Nighthawks was carefully holding a burning candle in his hand, its flame flickering, with faint whispers echoing around it.
"Klein, how is it?"
Dunn asked meaningfully.
"No problem." The brown-eyed Klein replied, gently blowing out the candle.
When the candle extinguished Cecilia's body trembled and she looked around in surprise as if she had just been distracted and only now realized she had gotten out of the car.
Sure enough, she had also undergone an inspection in the other car.
The accompanying policewoman got into the car and left, and the two groups of people converged.
Dunn pushed open the door of Blackthorn Security Company and led them inside.
First to greet their eyes was a reception hall furnished with classical sofas, soft-cushioned armchairs, and a log-colored coffee table, with a partition behind the furniture blocking the view of deeper areas.
Directly opposite was a desk, behind which sat a brown-haired girl, currently slumped over, nodding off to sleep.
Are Nighthawks all so lax... But it is almost midnight now...
Caesar thought.
"Rosanne."
Seeing this, Dunn raised his voice, saying somewhat helplessly.
"Oh! No, Captain!"
The brown-haired girl instantly woke up, straightening her body like a spring, "I wasn't sleeping, I was just distracted!"
No, no, no, girl, you haven't even wiped the drool from the corner of your mouth.
Caesar complained in his heart.
"Hahaha, exactly, Captain, I can testify. Rosanne wasn't sleeping; she was just strolling in the Goddess's Kingdom, contemplating life." Leonard teased with a smile, holding that peculiar emblem in his hand.
The girl named Rosanne glared at him, but he didn't mind, still smiling broadly.
"Alright... go prepare some tea, and wipe your mouth while you're at it."
Dunn sent the girl away, then turned back to his other two teammates, "You two go down to Chanis Gate first and return [Goddess's Gaze] and [Calming Candle]."
"Okay."
Klein and Leonard exchanged glances and responded, but their feet didn't move.
Dunn thought for a moment, then added:
"Also, Leonard, call Royale Reideen and Frye out of the recreation room."
"Yes."
The two nodded, but still didn't move.
Seeing this, Dunn frowned and rubbed his temples hard, "Hmm... Oh, right, Chanis Gate is too dangerous at night, so don't put those two Sealed Artifacts in there yet. Just leave them in my office, and we'll deal with them when it's light."
It was only after he seemed to have thought for a long time that Klein and Leonard finally started to move.
But they walked a few steps and still kept looking back, as if afraid Dunn had forgotten something again.
Are they that forgetful...?
Caesar and Cecilia exchanged glances, both a little surprised.
This Nighthawks captain had left them with an extremely profound and reliable impression since they first met.
But this filter seemed to have slightly dissipated during the recent interaction.
"Please, have a seat."
Dunn, however, was completely unaware, and motioned for the siblings to sit down.
At this moment, Rosanne, who had been dozing, also brought over the brewed black tea.
The tea set was exquisite and beautiful, and the tea leaves seemed to be of high quality, but the two of them were so uneasy that no matter how good the tea was, they couldn't taste any sweetness.
"Mr. Dunn, what are we going to do next?"
Caesar asked proactively.
"Stay here and accept our protection."
As soon as he sat down, Dunn instinctively pulled out his pipe again.
But seeing Cecilia sitting opposite him, he put the pipe back, and instead took a sip of tea, "And we will immediately act, arrest Sirius's accomplices, interrogate him, and stop their insane actions... until the incident is completely resolved."
That's not what I asked. I wanted to ask what would happen to me after the incident ends.
Caesar thought to himself, but the other party didn't seem to have any intention of saying it now, so he wisely didn't ask again.
After a few more sips of black tea it wasn't long before Leonard appeared from behind the partition with two other Nighthawks.
"Leonard and Frye, come with me. Royale Reideen, you stay here and protect our guests. Klein, are you going home? I can have the carriage take you along the way."
Dunn quickly gave his instructions stood up put on his hat and then asked Klein.
"No need, Captain. It's more important to catch people right now, and going back now would wake up my family." Klein yawned, "I'll just lie down in the lounge for a bit."
"Hmm."
Dunn nodded, then said to Caesar, "If you have anything, you can tell Royale Reideen. If any emergency occurs, you must listen to her."
Seeing that Caesar understood, he quickly left with his two teammates, leaving the Cardini siblings and Ms. Royale Reideen to look at each other.
This was a lady who appeared very aloof with long smooth black hair, large eyes and slender eyebrows.
She didn't speak proactively but simply observed the siblings quietly, her gaze seeming to linger on Caesar's face for a moment longer.
"Um, Ms. Royale Reideen, good evening?"
"Good evening."
Seeing Caesar greet her, Royale Reideen nodded slightly and spoke calmly, "Go to the back; there's a lounge there."
"Okay, thank you."
"Follow me."
She turned and led the two behind the partition.
Caesar and his sister quickly followed, and before leaving, he looked back at the front desk.
Sure enough, the brown-haired Rosanne was once again slumped over, starting to doze off. Hopefully, she won't be caught by Dunn when he returns...
Caesar thought, stepping behind the partition.
Behind the partition was a short corridor, with three offices on each side.
Royale Reideen led them into the second room on the left, which had several very soft-looking sofa beds and some newspapers piled on a table.
The Nighthawks named Klein had already arrived, lying on one of the sofa beds.
Seeing Caesar enter, he smiled and nodded to the two of them.
Caesar returned a smile.
"Feel free to sit down; you can also sleep if you're tired."
Royale Reideen pointed to the sofa beds.
She herself chose one and sat down then smoothed her already silky black hair turned pulled a newspaper from a nearby table and began to read it to herself.
She seemed to have no intention of continuing the conversation.
Caesar had originally wanted to take the opportunity to gather some information, but seeing her aloof demeanor, he gave up the idea.
He looked at Cecilia beside him and quietly asked her, "Are you tired?"
"No, I'm not."
Cecilia whispered.
"Then let's sit for a bit.
Do you want to read the newspaper?"
Caesar asked.
Seeing her shake her head, he simply took a newspaper from the table, glancing at its name.
"Tingen City Proper People's Daily"... What a unique name...
I want to see what proper people in Tingen City care about.
With that thought, Caesar picked up the newspaper.
He suddenly regretted not bringing the tea in.
After all, isn't drinking tea while reading the newspaper standard?
He lowered his head and casually browsed.
Citizens nationwide rejoice, celebrating the complete repeal of the Grain Law...
Tingen City steel magnate Baron Henry publicly declared his love for Lady Sharon at a dinner party and got into a brawl with three gentlemen...
A popular opera actress was exposed for having a long-term affair with the theater owner and his stepson...
Tsk tsk tsk, as expected, these are the kinds of news proper people would pay attention to, truly stimulating.
Klein lay fully clothed, quietly closing his eyes to rest.
Royale Reideen flipped through the newspaper occasionally glancing at Caesar and Cecilia seemingly diligently performing her bodyguard duties.
Cecilia sat leaning against Caesar initially a bit uneasy but before long, she started to feel sleepy beside Caesar.
Time slowly passed.
