===========================================================

The question hung in the air between us, as sharp and heavy as a guillotine. "I want to know why a six-year-old prodigy is hiding."

Itachi wasn't asking as a brother or a clansman. He was asking as an ANBU captain, a master of espionage who had just found an problem he couldn't explain. My mind, my precious Mind Palace, spun through a hundred different replies in a second. Lying was out. Deflecting would only increase suspicion. The only path forward was a carefully curated truth—my own analysis, presented in a way that would appeal to the cold, pragmatic shinobi standing before me.

I let out a small, weary sigh, a sound that felt far too old for my six-year-old lungs.

"Because being a prodigy in the Uchiha clan is a liability," I said, my voice quiet but firm. "It's a death sentence."

Itachi's impassive mask didn't slip, but I saw a flicker deep in his eyes. It was the faintest spark of shock. I had his full, undivided attention.

"Our clan's pride is our greatest strength, and our most profound weakness," I continued, choosing my words with surgical precision. "We see a genius like you, or Shisui-nii, and we see a weapon. A tool to reclaim our glory. We don't see a person; we see a solution."

I finally met his gaze, holding it. "A prodigy is pushed to the front lines. They become the face of the clan's ambition. They are forced to carry the weight of everyone's expectations. They become a target for our enemies, and a political pawn for our... allies." I let the last word hang in the air, loaded with meaning.

"Being the undisputed number one makes you the first one they watch, the first one they suspect, and the first one they seek to control," I explained. "Sasuke can have the spotlight. Let everyone think he is the Uchiha's future. It gives him a shield of expectations. But being the reliable, hardworking, and perpetually underestimated number two? No one sees the number two coming. The second son is forgotten. Overlooked. And an overlooked shinobi has a freedom that a prodigy can only dream of."

I finished my explanation, my heart hammering in my chest. This was the biggest gamble I had ever taken. I had just laid bare the entire political prison of his existence to one of its most famous inmates.

Silence. The sounds of the village seemed to return, distant and muffled. Itachi just stared at me, his face unreadable. He was processing my words, dissecting them, searching for the lie, for the angle. I could almost see the connections forming in his brilliant mind—my quietness, my deliberate mediocrity in practice, my strange perceptiveness. It all clicked into place, not as the actions of a child, but as a long-term, deeply cynical strategy for survival.

He finally broke the silence, his voice a low murmur. "You have thought about this a great deal."

"I don't forget things, Itachi-nii," I replied softly. "I've had a lot of time to think."

He took a step closer, and for the first time, the ANBU captain vanished, replaced by the weary older brother. He reached out and gently poked my forehead with two fingers. It was a gesture of affection, a gesture I knew he reserved for Sasuke.

"The world is a more complicated place than you can imagine," he said, a hint of melancholy in his voice. "Be careful, Raikou. A mind like yours can be a greater burden than any Sharingan."

He turned and walked away, melting back into the evening shadows as if he were never there, leaving me with a phantom touch on my forehead and the distinct feeling that I had just passed some kind of terrifying, unwritten test.

[Major Deviation Detected: 'The Prodigy's Acknowledgment']

[You have successfully influenced Itachi Uchiha, forging a new, unspoken understanding between you. You are no longer just 'Shisui's strange brother' in his mind. You are now a player.]

[Calculating Reward for 'A Game of Shadows'...]

[Reward Issued: Chakra Control Enhancement (Passive)]

[Description: Your innate ability to manipulate and control your chakra has been permanently sharpened. Wasteful energy expenditure is reduced, and the time required to master complex chakra-shaping techniques is significantly decreased. A subtle but powerful tool for an efficient shinobi.]

I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. A perfect reward. It wouldn't make me stronger, but it would make me better, faster. It was the reward of a strategist.

I was about to head home when another figure appeared, walking towards me from the direction of the training grounds. It was Shisui. But the usual cheerful grin was absent from his face. His expression was grim, his eyes shadowed with a worry that seemed to age him by a decade. He stopped in front of me, his presence far more intimidating than Itachi's had been.

"Raikou," he said, his voice tight. "We need to talk. Now."
