Jake's POV
The fourth wall broke like glass around us.
I reached out with both my minds - Jake and Thomas together - and grabbed hold of something that shouldn't exist. The edge of the story itself.
"What are you doing?" Kira gasped as reality shook around my hands.
"Breaking us out of the narrative," I said through gritted teeth. "If the Weaver wrote our rebellion, then we need to do something she couldn't have predicted."
Kira's POV
I felt the exact moment Jake tore a hole in our story.
One second we were in the Void Forest, trapped by the Weaver's final episode. The next, I could see beyond the edges of our world. There was something else out there. Something huge and empty and waiting.
"Oh no," the Archivist whispered behind us. "You've attracted their attention."
"Whose attention?" I asked.
That's when the Editor arrived.
