Chapter 17 - 17

Understood, we'll head over now."

"Yes, Director."

Upon hearing this, Agent Li Chengfeng immediately stood up and followed Nick Fury to the official conference room on the twentieth floor.

As he pushed open the door, the first thing he saw was Professor X's shiny bald head.

Nick Fury's nickname, "White Egg Yolk," was certainly fitting.

"Our esteemed guests from Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, allow me to reintroduce myself. I am Nicholas Joseph Fury, the current Director of the World Federal Investigation Bureau's American General Bureau."

"Charles Francis Xavier, you can also call me Professor X."

The historic meeting between "White Egg Yolk" (Nick Fury) and "Black Egg" (Professor X) was quite amusing.

Especially since they had clearly met before, yet were now feigning a handshake and negotiation, which only added to the comedic effect.

It was just like Xiaosao Ge and Black Handsome.

So Agent Li Chengfeng had been trying to suppress his laughter from the start.

Coincidentally, behind Professor X, someone else was also covering his mouth to stifle a laugh, but he couldn't hold it in.

"Hahahahaha! This is too funny! Nick Fury and Charles sitting face to face—I'll definitely remember this scene for the rest of my life!"

Well, it was you again, Uncle Wolf.

"I wanted to say this when we met in Westchester County a few days ago, but he looks a bit familiar."

"Oh, then you've probably seen a photo of the Howling Commandos? You can call me Logan. I spent some time with Peggy Carter back in the day; she's one of the toughest women I've ever met."

Peggy Carter, the first Director of the American General Bureau.

Wolverine Logan reined in his smile, responding with apparent humility.

One must remember, this guy was also a super old-timer, nearly two hundred years old.

His life resume, if put into a table, would scare anyone to death.

As a man who had almost spanned the entire modern Western history, he had been involved in almost everything.

Born into a wealthy family, he lived with wolves in Canada, participated in World War I and World War II, collaborated with Captain America, Bucky, and Peggy Carter, and even survived the ruins of Hiroshima.

The later involvement in Cold War espionage and similar activities seemed almost trivial compared to his earlier exploits.

This was a genuinely tough and hardcore individual, and he was Nick Fury's legitimate senior.

Thus, Nick Fury couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for a fellow hero.

But Agent Li Chengfeng, that irreverent fellow, was still present, and he was quite skilled at ruining the atmosphere.

"What's this? Are you two long-lost relatives? How about I call the hotel and have them set up a banquet? Though, I'm looking at your races, and they don't seem quite right?"

With Agent Li Chengfeng's interruption, both parties ended their casual chat and got straight to the point.

In short, the agreed-upon terms with Agent Li Chengfeng and Professor X remained largely consistent, with detailed discussions held on various aspects.

Overall, the negotiations between the FBI Director and the Mutant community could be considered exceptionally successful.

The FBI gained reliable and powerful high-combat members, while the Mutants acquired countless social resources.

It's important to remember that the FBI could do so much for Mutants.

For example, the various conglomerates and families hidden behind American politics.

The FBI could dig up all their intelligence, thereby persuading them to compromise gracefully and voluntarily.

If they wouldn't be graceful, the FBI would help them be graceful.

One must remember that Mutants are an entire race, and without using some power and means, the capitalists and politicians in America who control public opinion and economic lifelines would not relent.

Agent Li Chengfeng even thought that once Mutants paved this path, when Inhumans began to appear in large numbers, the same method could be used to bring Inhumans under their command.

However, Inhumans and Mutants are somewhat different.

Mutants already possessed true leadership, forming a community with well-developed social relationships.

While Inhumans had the Royal Family of Attilan, they had long since migrated to the dark side of the Moon.

Although the Inhumans on Earth had the secluded settlement of "Afterlife," they lacked actual leadership over the Inhuman race.

Therefore, the Inhumans' current stage was still akin to the Mutants' initial state.

"Professor X, I have a suggestion I hope you'll consider."

After Nick Fury and Professor X concluded their various negotiations and discussions, Agent Li Chengfeng spoke up.

Nick Fury feared that this fellow was about to stir up some trouble again, but in such a setting, he couldn't directly interrupt, so he could only blink rapidly at Agent Li Chengfeng.

Unfortunately, he blinked his single eye almost raw, but Agent Li Chengfeng seemed to pay no attention.

"Agent Li Chengfeng, please speak."

"Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters is managed exceptionally well. Even with many adolescent Mutant Little Rascals, no difficult incidents have occurred."

"...To be honest, I'm a bit unsure. Are you truly complimenting us?"

Professor X chuckled, to be honest, those Little Rascals, even for someone as intelligent as him, caused him immense headaches every day.

The power of adolescent Little Rascals is the same all over the World.

"That is certainly a compliment." Agent Li Chengfeng believed his eyes were incredibly sincere. "Since it's confirmed that we're joining the FBI, I hope Professor X can also serve as the Dean of the FBI Academy."

Upon hearing this, Nick Fury almost clapped his hands in approval.

The previous Dean of the FBI Academy was a veteran HYDRA Agent!

A few years ago, the FBI Academy could practically have been renamed the HYDRA Academy.

And after the HYDRA infiltration crisis was cleared, the FBI Academy was severely understaffed, with almost all senior Agents who had served at the academy returning to headquarters.

Even now, the FBI Academy only had Agent Weaver, who maintained the academy's daily operations, and students who were confirmed to have no ties to HYDRA.

Only a mere hundred or so people remained.

"Dean of the FBI Academy? But I'm not proficient in Agent skills, am I?"

"I've naturally considered that. However, compared to teachers who can teach various skills, the FBI Academy now needs a Dean with a clean background who can command authority. As for the academy's teachers, I believe Wolverine Logan is absolutely qualified. Furthermore, since Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters has also merged into the FBI Academy, having the same Dean will give them a greater sense of belonging."

Professor X pondered for a while.

It must be said, he had already approved of this suggestion.

The ultimate goal of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters was to give these young Mutants the power to choose their own destiny.

While a small number would choose to join the X-Men, many more would return to society.

If they could join the FBI, it would also be a good path for other Mutants.

Given the depth of cooperation between the two parties, Mutants would certainly not face exclusion or even discrimination within the FBI.

"Charles, I don't see any problem with it."

Wolverine Logan, who had been silent for some time, spoke up then.

So, despite Uncle Wolf's daily drinking, fighting, causing trouble, and teasing the Little Rascals, acting like a stubborn old man, his word carried considerable weight among the X-Men, arguably second only to Professor X in authority.

Seeing that even his usually idle second-in-command found it reliable, Professor X finally nodded.

"In that case, I'll take on this job."
