Chapter 24 - 24

As the main force for clearing heavy weapons, Magneto arrived the latest, standing at the very back of the X-Men after entering, without communicating with anyone.

This included Mystique, Raven, who once cooperated seamlessly with him.

At this moment, Li Chengfeng, who had already deactivated his Green Lantern transformation, led the X-Men to the lower level of the castle, which was the most important part of this HYDRA research institute.

The laboratory.

In the very center, two transparent, material-like cells stood there. The siblings, who had just been in the same cell, were now separated.

Old Man Magneto, without a word, suddenly accelerated, passing decisively by everyone, still without saying a single word.

But his expression kept changing.

Anger, regret, anticipation... Li Chengfeng and Cyclops began to gossip in low voices:

"Magneto is a Mutant, so why did he fall out with you guys? Aren't you all from the same race? He looks at you as if you owe him millions."

"You don't know the half of it. He used to be our leader, just like Xavier, and also the most powerful Mutant in the entire race. But due to differing stances, we eventually went our separate ways, forming the Brotherhood of Mutants and Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters."

"Stance."

Li Chengfeng nodded.

These two words seemed to carry immense weight.

These two words almost represented irreconcilable differences.

Stances cannot be easily changed.

"Since the conflict between the two sides is such a fundamental issue, why would Old Man Magneto, as the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants, participate in this operation? Is it just because of a single word from Nick Fury (White Egg Yolk - Nickname/Contextual)?"

"You ask me, who am I supposed to ask? Magneto is the most fanatical and terrifying person in the entire Mutant race. But he truly cares about his Mutant compatriots; it's just that his methods and approaches are too extreme."

Cyclops shrugged. Magneto's actions were inherently extreme and unpredictable, and without him explaining, he could only guess.

"Wait, who did you just say Nick Fury (White Egg Yolk - Nickname/Contextual) was? You're not talking about Professor Xavier, are you?"

"What else? Think about his bald head, what else could he be if not Nick Fury (White Egg Yolk - Nickname/Contextual)? Don't you know the story of the two major leaders of the FBI, Nick Fury (White Egg Yolk - Nickname/Contextual) and Black Egg (Nick Fury)?"

"Pfft hahahaha, that's really too vivid, Nick Fury (White Egg Yolk - Nickname/Contextual)."

Li Chengfeng looked at the X-Men suppressing their laughter and Uncle Wolf grinning wildly, his face full of black lines.

So this is what you X-Men are like, Nick Fury (White Egg Yolk - Nickname/Contextual) really misjudged you!

But when he came back to his senses, Old Man Magneto was already preparing to manipulate the surrounding metal to violently dismantle the cell.

"Old Man Magneto, stop! Do you want to scare the two children... them?"

Li Chengfeng originally wanted to say, "Don't scare the two children," after all, the siblings' confusion and helplessness at the moment really did resemble two children.

But on second thought, he was only twenty-five himself, and calling two twenty-year-olds 'children' was indeed a bit inappropriate.

After speaking, he gestured for Ada Wong and Harley Quinn to find the switch to open the cages.

Then Li Chengfeng looked at the siblings again.

The brother seemed to be trapped in an unstable vortex of speed, unable to extricate himself.

Sometimes his speed was no different from an ordinary person's, and sometimes it was so fast that it left a series of afterimages in the cage.

At first glance, it looked like a clone technique.

The sister, on the other hand, seemed to live in a World of her own, though her brother occasionally intruded into this World.

She was staring blankly and engrossed, fiddling with a few dilapidated building blocks.

However, she wasn't using her hands directly, but rather crimson magic energy derived from Chaos Magic.

That's right, this pair of siblings were the famous Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch from the original story.

But now, they were just two unfinished products imprisoned in the laboratory.

Their abilities from the x-gene had not been properly developed, nor had they been effectively controlled.

In their current state, let alone fighting, they probably couldn't even take care of themselves, could they?

...Soon, Ada Wong and Harley Quinn extracted the password to unlock the cages from several core HYDRA researchers.

Then, after a flurry of inputs on the main console, with a soft click, the transparent material prison finally opened.

But... the siblings, apart from tightly grasping each other's hands again, dared not step out of the area originally covered by the cage.

It seemed this was their exclusive safe zone; as long as they didn't leave here, they wouldn't suffer more harm.

"Hey, don't be nervous. I'm an Agent from the FBI, and I'm here to rescue you." Li Chengfeng tried to step into this safe zone, and after finding that the two didn't react with alarm, he began to get close to the siblings, "Can you tell me your names?"

"My name is... Wanda Maximoff."

"Pietro, Pietro Maximoff."

Li Chengfeng was stunned for a moment, not expecting to approach them so easily.

The main reason was that Scarlet Witch had already awakened Chaos Magic; although it was only just awakened and she hadn't fully learned how to control this power, she could still feel Li Chengfeng's pure goodwill.

Her original unease quickly subsided.

Although her nerves were overly sensitive from being confined for so long, she was only somewhat abnormal, not completely insane or foolish.

She could still distinguish basic good from evil.

For example, HYDRA, who had been experimenting on them, was definitely not good.

And the FBI, who killed these HYDRA members, at least at this moment... were good people.

But Magneto immediately became agitated.

Whether it was the country of Latveria or Pietro, who looked almost identical to himself in his youth, it made him incredibly certain.

These were his lost children.

When Magneto was still young and strong, he lived in seclusion for a long time, incognito in Latveria.

He fell in love, married, and had children.

The happy life of a family of four even began to show signs of changing his originally extremist ideology.

But with his identity exposed, being hunted by anti-Mutant organizations, and finally betrayed by villagers and neighbors... Magneto completely lost faith in ordinary people.

Coupled with the disappearance of his son and daughter, this created the Magneto who now kills entire families at the drop of a hat.

What? Polaris?

That's another story for Old Man Magneto.

And having confirmed the siblings' identities, Old Man Magneto was still agitated, his trembling hands actually showing a hint of old age.

"Do you two... still remember your father?"

"Father? If you mean foster parents, they are already dead." When her deceased parents were mentioned, Wanda's originally vacant eyes cleared up considerably, and a hint of hatred emerged, "Latveria was in civil war, and they died under Stark Industries' bombs. To get revenge, we became the lab rats confined in transparent cages."

"So you willingly joined the HYDRA research institute's experiments to gain enough power for revenge?"

Li Chengfeng nodded.

If that was the case, it could explain why HYDRA, despite not knowing about the existence of the Mutant race, was researching the x-gene.

They basically delivered themselves to HYDRA, how could that be?
