Chapter 27 - 27

From the moment Li Chengfeng first heard the placename Latveria, he felt a bit uneasy.

This World was, after all, a mixed Universe, and who knew if other monsters and demons might be entrenched within HYDRA or Latveria.

Even though the mission brief issued by the system had already explicitly stated that there was a major figure behind this incident.

Li Chengfeng still hadn't determined who it was.

When he discovered this dungeon and saw Loki inside, Li Chengfeng was completely certain.

HYDRA, in a dictatorial country like Latveria, not only had research facilities but also thousands of troops protecting them?

Of course, it was because Dr. Doom, the behind-the-scenes ruler of Latveria, was cooperating with HYDRA.

Furthermore, although Loki was beaten by the Big Guy from Kansas, who wouldn't get beaten when they encountered the Big Guy?

Loki was just relatively weak, but even for the entire HYDRA, he could still be considered a "God."

And to capture a God from Asgard and imprison him in a cell in a Latverian castle, only Dr. Doom could achieve that.

One who could capture a God was naturally another God.

However, compared to the shock of Ada Wong and Harley Quinn, the X-Men were rather accustomed to the creation of portals.

After all, there was the existence of Blink.

But the portal in front of them was clearly on a much higher level than Blink's.

"Ah!!!"

Suddenly, the White Queen let out a high-pitched scream, her body swaying, her face contorted in pain as she clutched her forehead.

"Emma! What happened?" Mystique immediately supported the White Queen. "Are you... suffering a psychic backlash?"

The White Queen's charming face was now devoid of color, extremely pale, and she nodded weakly.

Seeing the White Queen nod, all the X-Men immediately entered a state of readiness.

"You foolish and rude psychics, you always want to probe all the deepest secrets of someone's heart the moment you find them interesting."

Dr. Doom spoke.

His tone was flat, yet filled with deep disdain.

As a formidable individual who had almost reached the pinnacle in both technology and magic, if his armor didn't have countermeasures against psychic abilities, he would have died eight hundred times over.

"I strongly agree with your point. A mature psychic should be like Dean Xavier, never casually prying into others' minds unless absolutely necessary."

"Xavier? Dean? Sounds like you're talking about the Mutant leader in America."

"Indeed, you know about the existence of the Mutant race, but you haven't fully revealed it to HYDRA, only telling them that some people possess supernatural abilities." Li Chengfeng said as he stepped forward and extended his hand, "I am Federal Investigation Bureau Level 7 Agent, Li Chengfeng."

Normally, a character as arrogant and ruthless as Dr. Doom would likely not shake hands with Li Chengfeng.

Li Chengfeng himself thought the same.

He extended his hand more as a test.

Because he felt that the Dr. Doom who appeared before them was a bit strange.

He seemed a bit too benevolent... Yes, that's right, too benevolent!

The White Queen was merely countered and then nothing else happened?

If this were the Dr. Doom from the original work, he would have surely taught her a profound lesson.

That was a great dictator who held a country in his hand, freely giving life and taking it away.

Dr. Doom looked down at Li Chengfeng's extended hand and actually shook it.

Li Chengfeng was dumbfounded. Could it be that the mixed Universe had produced a benevolent version of Dr. Doom?

But when Li Chengfeng tried to let go, Dr. Doom still held on tightly.

"Uh, I know I'm a bit too handsome for this World, but you don't have to hold on for so long, do you?"

Li Chengfeng chuckled, but Dr. Doom ignored him and instead brought up another question.

"This ring on your hand... did you get it from Westchester County?"

Li Chengfeng frowned.

What did he mean? Dr. Doom knew about the green lantern ring?

Wait a minute... "Was Wesker originally your subordinate?"

"The entire Umbrella Corporation was able to survive because it received my protection, so it's quite reasonable for them to join HYDRA and do some things for me, isn't it?"

Well, that explained everything.

Li Chengfeng had always been puzzled as to why Wesker and the Umbrella Corporation behind him were researching the green lantern power battery.

No matter how he thought about it, it had nothing to do with biochemical viruses.

Turns out, they were working for Dr. Doom.

"It's hard to imagine that with your achievements in science and magic, you would stoop to using a low-level company like Umbrella Corporation, which deals in biochemical viruses."

"I can't help it. This was Miranda's request. As a generous ruler, I always respond to my neighbors' pleas."

Miranda, could it be Mother Miranda?

The location did match; the "village" in Resident Evil 8 was indeed located in Eastern Europe.

Reasonable, too damn reasonable.

Li Chengfeng materialized a spiral blade in his hand, forcing Dr. Doom, who had been holding his hand, to let go and take a step back.

Although Dr. Doom's mysterious armor could resist a large portion of physical and magical attacks, it was easily breached when facing an attack materialized by Willpower Green Light.

Looking at the blood flowing from his hand, Dr. Doom showed no anger; instead, he looked at the dazzling Willpower Green Light with a hint of fascination.

"This is truly... a magical power I have never seen before."

For Dr. Doom, the power of the emotional spectrum was indeed something he had never seen.

Because the emotional spectrum, unlike technology or magic, was a type of cosmic energy, originating from various emotions.

To put it bluntly, it was idealistic.

Take the green lantern ring, for example; those with extraordinary willpower could wear it and become a Green Lantern.

But once their will began to waver, their power would weaken, or the green lantern ring would even leave directly.

The biggest difference from technology and magic was that it had no principles.

Just as no one could explain how emotions were born.

Dr. Doom stepped forward again, but instead of shaking Li Chengfeng's hand, he lightly touched the green lantern ring.

Li Chengfeng immediately felt pulses emanating from the green lantern ring.

The next moment, the green lantern power battery appeared in Li Chengfeng's hand.

Li Chengfeng looked closely and discovered something he hadn't noticed the first time he touched the lantern furnace... a small shark made of green light was happily swimming inside the lantern furnace.

Ion Shark!?

Isn't this the Green Lantern Beast?

Shouldn't this thing be suppressing the Inspection Monster in the Central Power Battery on Oa?

Li Chengfeng suddenly remembered something: after he obtained the green lantern ring, no one had summoned him to Oa to officially join the Green Lantern Corps.

This meant that in this mixed Universe... either the Green Lantern Corps, including Oa, had been completely wiped out.

Or it had just been born.

As Li Chengfeng was thinking, he saw the small shark in the green lantern power battery suddenly speed up its swimming, and then the next moment, a brand new green lantern ring was born from the lantern furnace... and flew towards Dr. Doom.

"Intelligent lifeform locked.

Victor Von Doom from Earth.

You possess the strong will to overcome fear.

Welcome to the Green Lantern Corps."
