Chapter 14 - Gacha

[You have 120 SP. You can spend it on gacha or purchase something from the store]

The transparent system panel hovered before Noa's eyes, urging him to use the store function.

Seeing this and the previous notification, Noa rubbed his chin.

Instead of receiving a quest from the system after hearing about the mysterious priest, he had gotten a subtle message, saying there was more to uncover.

'I am on the right track,' he realized.

Noa wanted to explore what this world had to offer, mostly for content.

[Current Viewers: 19]

Yes, his viewer count had gone up, but he still needed 81 more to finish the mission, or he had to gain 20 more subscribers.

Still, the gacha system and store function caught his attention.

So he ignored both the chat and the woman, trying to explore the ways he could use Streamer Points.

The window in front of him expanded as soon as he willed it.

Two separate tabs materialized, obscuring his vision.

[Gacha]

[Store]

Noa hovered his fingers over the first line.

[Streamer Points Gacha: 100 SP per roll. Rewards include cosmetic upgrades, stream features, temporary boosts, rare world items, and sometimes something special]

'100 SP for one pull, huh?' Noa muttered. 'I can only do it one time… But I wish I could show it to the chat. I bet they would go nuts over it.'

As if hearing his thoughts, the system answered with a message.

[It's possible. You just have to unlock it, get lucky, or buy a feature like that.]

Noa's lips curled into a smile.

If he were to get his hands on this feature, it would guarantee great content and provide an easy way to expand his audience.

But for now, he had to do it alone.

'Let's just peek at the store too. Who knows, maybe something busted is waiting for me.'

With that, he flicked his finger and opened the second tab.

[Streamer Store]

Basic banner: 25 SP

Emote Set: 20 SP (Customizable)

Stream Overlay: 30 SP (Customizable)

Shiny Profile Badge: 35 SP

Temporary Buff: +10% Charisma for 30 mins: 60 SP

???? (Locked: Requires next level to unlock)

Noa knew what he should do. But he was also confident that his viewers would want him to speedrun poverty.

'Let's just go with the full degenerate strategy,' he exclaimed.

Deep down, Noa was excited. The idea of opening a real-life gacha box appealed to both sides of him: the gamer and the showman.

The items he would purchase from the store would boost his coverage on the platform.

Yet, something unknown excited him even more.

The shiny capsule animation spun in the top corner of his vision, almost speaking to him.

Not wanting to stall the stream any longer, Noa pressed the button. The tab blinked twice as the capsule glowed in seven different colors.

It even showed off strange symbols and icons that Noa couldn't recognize.

[You are about to spend 100 SP. Proceed?]

The notice tried to make him second-guess his choice, but to no avail. "Shut up and take my points!"

In an instant, the capsule expanded, spinning wildly.

It felt like something had been launched from the slot machine as drum rolls echoed in Noa's ears and flashes of gold and crimson bloodied out his vision.

Finally, the capsule stopped.

It no longer floated in the air before cracking with a soft ping.

The last color it showed was silver, highlighting its rank.

[Congratulations! You have obtained a stream feature: Gacha Broadcast]

Noa blinked.

Once. Twice.

Then he laughed out loud, not believing his own luck. "You have gotta be kidding me. I actually pulled the feature I wanted."

Soon, a new notification popped up.

[Gacha Broadcast: Your viewers can now watch gacha pulls live. Engagement, such as subscribers, donations, and view count, can affect the roll probability. Good luck!]

Viewer_18: Why is he standing like that?

gothlover: First timer, huh? It's okay. It happens from time to time. You will get used to it.

Hecar: It's probably the game's fault. Still buggy, I guess.

Noa smirked suddenly, waving his hands casually. He had crossed the 20-viewer mark, and though only half of them were active in the chat, he noticed that rarely anyone left the stream.

"Relax, peasants," he said flatly. "I was just preparing a surprise for you. I don't wanna spoil, but it has something to do with gacha."

The chat exploded in its usual manner.

They all wanted to see what Noa was talking about, but one particular message stopped them instantly.

[Viewer_18 has subscribed! Revealing username: Spidey]

[Spidey has sent 5 subs]

Spidey: IDK who this mf is, but I like him.

With that, Noa gained six additional subscriptions, bringing him closer to the 25 the mission demanded.

Viewer_1: Tsk. Another rich boy appeared. Why would you throw money when there are no ads on the stream?

gothlover: Look at this cheap guy talk again. Mods, can we ban him?

"There are no mods here," Noa smirked. "But I promise there won't be any ads either. Enjoy the stream in peace, everyone!"

[gothlover has sent 3 subs]

gothlover: This is just to spite the Viewer_1

Noa had no reason to complain about additional subs.

[Remaining SP: 20]

"Chat, should I spend money on emotes so your degens spam more crap, or should I save up for gacha?"

F00l: Emotes!

Need2Pee: Nah, go with gacha. Who cares about stupid emotes, anyway?

The chat was split into two. Some wanted options to spam more of Noa's faces, while others demanded gacha.

Yet the winner was still clear.

"Let's start saving up then," he said, enjoying conversing with the chat.

It was easy to keep track of opinions while the chat was small, but soon, he would need a poll feature to manage the crowd.

Now that everything was done, Noa looked back at the hunched woman.

She was sorting her veggies, completely ignoring his presence. Seeing this, Noa thanked her and turned away.

"Which way did she say I should go?" he asked the chat, ready to cross the forest alone.
