Chapter 7 - Slender ghost.

Now clearheaded, the presence of something on his shoulder made his blood run cold.

Since when has it been attached to him? How come he hadn't noticed.

He steeled himself and pushed his head up.

In the darkness he could make out a paper white face, with two small black holes. The nose was completely flattened, almost unnoticeable.

What made Shen Yu alarmed was the lip that stretched from one ear to another. Sharp, black inhuman teeth were visible as it hanged wide open over his head.

The creature was bent in a awkward, acrobatic posture, with both it's arms and legs perched on both of his shoulder.

It's neck stretched forward, and the mouth like cave was only a hair breath away, teeth's almost grazing the top of his hair.

Shen Yu didn't dare to move.

There was nothing in his hands and he was completely defenseless at the moment.

A lone bead of sweat rolled down his Adam apple.

Any wrong move and he was sure those teeth would easily sever his head from his shoulders.

The melody which was slow at first suddenly took a sharp turn and the owner appeared. Half dyed in red.

Hau Lian? She came back?

Still in shock he watched the littles girl grab both sides of the ghost's gaping mouth.

But this one wasn't as easy to handle as the water ghost, it quickly shrunk it's head to avoid her fingers, twisted around and bit a portion off her arm. Hau Lian also didn't gain nothing, throwing it off his shoulder with immeasurable strength.

There was no blood but from up close Shen Yu noticed that her form was a bit fainter.

Hau Lian was indifferent, in her beaded black eyes was only the intent to Kill.

Destroy.

The slender ghost also wasn't going to give you on its prey. It would be good if he could swallow this new ghost too. With this he would be one step closer to becoming a ghoul.

The two clashed fiercely.

Hau Lian attack power was mostly concentrated on her nails that gleamed like a dagger, but the slender ghost wasn't weak either.

It's body was thin and stretchy which made it hard to get a good hit. It advanced and retreated quickly unlike the reckless Hau Lian.

She is going to lose at this rate!

Shen Yu scratched his palm anxiously.

Hau Lian was growing fainter as minutes past.

He didn't know if ghost could die, but he knew she was going to be fully consumed if this continued.

Also he was going to be next!

His eyes were already well adapted to the darkness.

Moving fast, he ran to a corner just under the stairs. There was a bunch of random objects piled on the ground. Seemed like leftover from a construction or something.

Shen Yu grabbed a rod. It was thick, round and just the right length.

He weighed it in his hand and nodded. Should do.

When he ran back the fight had almost ened. Hau Lian attack had weakned and her form was almost transparent.

Without thinking, Shen Yu gathered his strength and stabbed at the slender ghost.

As if there was eyes present at the back of its eye, it dodged it easily.

Without much practice, Shen Yu could only keep stabbing awkwardly as he retreated. The slender ghost pursued relentlessly.

Shen Yu's back was cold with sweat, his hands shook.

The slender ghost immediately dived in, revealing it's gaping mouth that was wide enough to swallow a person whole.

But in the next moment, a thin arm appeared from behind. The dark fingers stabbed into the upper maw and pulled it even wider while the other arm was shoved into the slender ghost's throat.

A deep guggle sounded, followed by a puncture.

Shen Yu saw the dark, round mass in Hau Lian's hand.

It had no substance. Like a ball of smoke. The slender man immediately disintegrated.

What is that? The soul.

He watched as she nonchalantly brought it to her face then she shoved it into her mouth.

She ate it. Shen Yu's face twisted.

Hau Lian gaze turned to him and those deep black eyes pinned him in place. Shen Yu was about to open his mouth when she suddenly disappeared.

He paused, then walked over to pick up the lonely music box that was left behind. Eyebrows drawned towards the center.

It seemed to be broken. Will she be okay?

He didn't have time to observe it as heavy footsteps from the stairs below drifted into his ears.

It wasn't just one.

There were many!

Shen Yu's scalp crawled.

He shoved the box into the pocket of his hoodie, picked up the rod which had fallen to the ground and bolted upwards.
