Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Heading to Langley

Of course, this trust was built on the many successful missions Morin had completed for Chris in the past.

If a regular agent under his command suddenly came to Chris and said they wanted to infiltrate CIA headquarters to steal a list of agents and needed his cooperation, would Chris just kick him out?

Kicking him out would be the easy part. He might even fire him the next day for stepping into the office with his left foot first!

To get enough trust and support, you need to show enough ability and experience first, and Morin just happened to have both.

"Since that's settled, everything is pretty much taken care of," Morin thought to himself. "The rest is up to Ethan."

"If everything goes smoothly, this ten million will be added to my experience points, and I can open the next world. When I come back, I can just jump to the time nodes of the big events and get a huge amount of experience points..." (The aupalhor has set the timeline for these movies based on their release dates.)

Although returning to other worlds required using experience points—for example, if Morin wanted to go back to the Fast and Furious world, it would cost him ten experience points—it also had its advantages.

He could choose to jump to any known time node.

Morin had confirmed that these known time nodes were actually the release dates of the movies he had watched in his previous life. For example, Morin could choose to travel to any time between Fast & Furious 6 and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw!

If he were in the Fast and Furious world, Morin couldn't do this. But if he was in this spy world and wanted to go back to the Fast and Furious world, he could jump to a specific time node to save time and get involved in the big events to earn a huge amount of experience points!

In other words, it was like having multiple games with many time nodes. If Morin was stuck in one game, he could only move forward in time.

But if he jumped from one game to another, he could choose which time node to enter and get involved in the big events directly.

Other than not being able to load a previous save (meaning going back to a time he had already experienced), everything else was great.

Of course, the system wouldn't solve the problem of where Morin was during the time he "disappeared." So Morin thought about it and had to admit that he would probably have to "live in seclusion in the mountains and forests" often in the future.

But that was fine. Given how Morin operated, he wouldn't get too deeply involved with others.

And if necessary, he could go back to the time node he had just left. For example, if he was in a life-or-death situation in one world, he could instantly leave for another world, get stronger, and then come back!

"So, after this, I can open up the next world and a new profession. I'm really looking forward to it... Hmm, the more I think about it, the more I sound like a robber."

Morin put on his headphones and started monitoring Ethan's movements.

He had indeed taken the bug he had planted... but he never said he had only planted one!

He had only taken out that one to explain to Ethan how he knew about their internal mission details, to make his story more believable.

As for the other side...

Ethan took off the coat of Claire, his team leader Jim's wife and a team member herself, patted her down, and pushed her onto the bed.

As for why the CIA would allow two agents to get married and still be in the same team, Morin, who was listening in from afar, still couldn't figure it out.

But he could ignore it for now.

It didn't matter anyway.

And what Ethan had just done with such practiced movements...

Ethan: "Of course, I'm checking to see if Claire is carrying any weapons to prevent her from harming me (straight face)!"

In the original plot, Ethan was probably thinking exactly that. But now, after Morin had talked to him and shared some intelligence, Ethan already had some suspects in mind.

This suspicion reached its peak when Claire actually came back to the team's meeting point at 4 AM, just as Morin had said she would.

In his mind, Ethan was almost certain that Claire was the mole, or one of the moles.

If Claire was the mole, what role was Jim, her husband, who was also missing, playing in all this?

At the time, Ethan was completely caught up in the tragedy of his team members being ambushed due to leaked intelligence, and he was too emotional to think straight.

But Morin's arrival had pointed out a few things and given him some intelligence, which had allowed Ethan to start thinking again.

Thinking back carefully, Ethan had found many suspicious points, and every one of them added to Jim's suspicion!

Ethan didn't want to think that way, but he had to. He had to admit that the person he respected the most, the one who had guided him on the path of an agent, Jim, was the most suspicious.

All he needed was some key evidence to prove it!

Of course, that was for Ethan to confirm later. For now, Ethan was using this opportunity to subtly vent his frustration and anger.

But Ethan also knew when to stop. After confirming that Claire wasn't carrying any weapons (straight face), Ethan pinned Claire to the bed and aggressively interrogated her about who sent her.

"Tsk, tsk," Morin said, taking off his headphones. "It seems Ethan isn't that much of a straight arrow after all..."

Morin knew that what Ethan did didn't have much to do with his own actions. The phone he had given Ethan could indeed be used to contact him, but it was just one of his methods. Ethan would certainly be cautious and hide some information from him.

But Morin didn't need to get information from Ethan to move on to the next step. After all, in terms of information channels, his own strength, and the amount of power he could mobilize, Morin was far more capable than Ethan.

"It's time." Morin started to pack his things. Soon, everything was packed. He sent a text message to the phone he had given Ethan, picked up his luggage, and left Prague, getting on a plane back to the US.

He was going to Langley, the city where CIA headquarters was located, to set things up in advance and ensure everything went smoothly!
