Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Get in the Car!

"Are you serious?"

The plane landed. As soon as Morin walked out of the airport, a bald man who had walked up to him, Morin's superior Chris, said those words.

"What else?" Morin smiled. "When have you ever seen me mess around?"

"When have you not been messing around?" Chris wasn't surprised by Morin's brazenness. Ever since Morin took a month to come back from Dubai, Chris, who was then the head of the operations department, knew one thing: this subordinate was completely out of his control.

Chris was smart. After realizing this, he didn't try to fight Morin but instead started cooperating with him. He would grant Morin's requests without a second thought and clean up any messes he made.

Morin wasn't an ungrateful person. Since Chris was so accommodating, he didn't mind helping his easy-to-work-with superior get a promotion so he could continue to receive useful help.

This was why Morin had become a top agent in a year, and Chris, the head of the operations department, had been promoted to the director of the IRS... When your subordinate is capable, the leader naturally benefits!

This only strengthened Chris's resolve to support Morin.

But this time, Chris was a little panicked, which was why he kept asking Morin if he was sure.

If Morin had said he was going to take down a few drug cartels or something, Chris would have approved it without question, provided all the equipment, and even asked when Morin planned to come back from his "vacation."

In Chris's eyes, such a mission was as good as a vacation for Morin.

But now, Morin was going to take down CIA headquarters!

Putting aside the fact that they were departments that often cooperated and exchanged information, the CIA was still the number one spy organization in the world. And Morin was going to steal a list of their agents from their headquarters... If this was discovered or leaked, Chris felt he wouldn't be able to handle it.

So, asking multiple times was understandable.

"How can something you're sure about be called messing around?" Morin rolled his eyes. They had arrived at the car, and Morin opened the door and got in. "Don't worry, I have a person inside the CIA helping me, and their skills are top-notch."

"You're in the wrong seat," Chris said helplessly.

"I'm not?" Morin patted the steering wheel. "Isn't this the driver's seat?"

"No, no, I'm driving," Chris's face was dark. "The last time you drove, I got dozens of speeding tickets!"

"Uh... I was only going a little over 100 mph, right?" Morin said with a look of feigned innocence. (Note: A mile is about 1.6 km/h, so 100 mph is 160 km/h).

"That was in the city! The city!" Chris emphasized. "Not on a racetrack!"

"I know it was in the city, which is why I didn't even go 200 mph..." Morin waved his hand. "Come on, get in the car. Don't waste time."

"Heh, the car key is still with me," Chris said with a smug smile, showing Morin the key in his hand. "This time I learned my lesson and took it out in advance. The power is in my hands now!"

"Are you sure?" Morin raised an eyebrow.

"...What else?" Chris looked at Morin's confident demeanor, froze for a moment, and subconsciously looked at the key in his hand, wondering if it had been swapped.

"Look at my hand," Morin said, holding out his right hand to Chris.

"Uh... there's nothing there?" Chris looked at it carefully.

"There really isn't anything," Morin said, nodding. He turned his hand, and a silver key appeared in his empty palm!

"But now..." Morin inserted the key into the car and turned it. The car started. "Get in the car?"

Chris: "!!!"

"How did you do that?" Chris was shocked. He got into the passenger seat, buckling his seatbelt instinctively, and asked. "This is a new car! I just got the keys myself!"

"In the hands of a racing god, there's no distinction between a new car and an old car," Morin said, shaking his head with a mysterious smile that Chris found very intriguing. "This is a skill that only I possess..."

"You're full of it, aren't you?" Chris's face was dark. "What is it? A universal key? Is it some new piece of equipment that the R&D department came up with? Why don't I know about it?"

"No, no, it's actually my special ability. I can quickly take control of any car and pull out the keys. I am the god of cars!" Morin said, with a very serious expression.

"I don't believe a word you're saying!" Chris's face was dark. "Did those people in the R&D department forget that I'm the director of the IRS? I guess I'll have to go and inspect their work a few times!"

"That's not necessary," Morin didn't mind that Chris didn't believe his truth and instead put the blame on the R&D department.

It was just something he said casually anyway. He expertly shifted gears and stepped on the gas.

"You don't need to pick locks. Why would the R&D department tell you about these things?"

"Hmm... that makes some sense," Chris thought about it and realized that what Morin said was correct.

As a director, he didn't need to be on the front lines, and he did all the desk work. Of course, the R&D department wouldn't come to him with a bunch of spy gear!

As he was thinking, Chris felt his body lurch, and he was pressed against the seat by an almost irresistible force. The powerful acceleration was very clear.

"Morin! What are you doing!" Chris's eyes widened. "This is Langley!"

"It's all the same. I've driven in New York before, so why would I be afraid of here?" Morin smiled, shifted into fifth gear, and floored the accelerator.

"This car's specs are pretty good!"

"I should have brought my grandfather's old car!" Chris yelled, his nerves on edge as he stared at the cars Morin was expertly and cleanly passing.

"Also, this is my new company car! Of course, the specs are good!"

Morin didn't close the windows while he was driving, so at their current speed, they had to yell to be heard over the whistling wind.

"Trust me, even with an old car, I could drive faster than these people!" Morin laughed.
