Emiya stared at the long string of "+1s" and let out a quiet sigh.
Honestly, he couldn't really blame Kazuma Satou.
Kazuma was the one who had met Aqua, the goddess with a hole in her head.
After that, his respect for gods had already dropped to a pitiful level.
Now he had Loki and Hestia too-two gods who kept embarrassing themselves. It was only natural that whatever image he had left was completely shattered.
Anyone in his position would've ended up the same way.
Still, shattered image or not, Emiya sent a reminder to the group.
"@Kazuma Satou, don't go too far. Hestia aside, Loki is a trickster god who once stirred the gods of heaven into fighting each other. Her dark history is too long to count. Be careful."
Loki immediately shot back.
"Hey, hey. You're my person, you know? Is it really okay to slander your own deity like that?"
Emiya replied calmly.
"I just want to make sure certain people show some respect. What if they offend you and you decide to kill them?"
"Who would do something like that?" Loki retorted.
Hephaestus chimed in.
"Compared to when she was still in heaven, Loki has toned it down a lot since coming to the mortal realm. At least she's not as bad as she used to be. She's probably been influenced by mortals."
Loki sent several smug emojis.
"See? Even Hephaestus says so. I've turned over a new leaf."
Emiya tagged Hephaestus.
"I remember that at one of the divine conferences, a few gods made fun of Loki's figure. Are those deities' Familias still around?"
Hephaestus: ...
Seeing the line of ellipses, Kazuma's heart went cold.
"Um... Lord Hephaestus? Why aren't you saying anything?"
Shizuka Hiratsuka commented dryly.
"I think you're pretty much screwed."
Kazuma snapped back.
"You're not one to talk. You were the first one to '+1' just now."
Shizuka Hiratsuka: ...
Aqua jumped in.
"Don't worry, Kazuma. Even though you're a pervert and a scumbag, if you join my faith, even I can protect you."
Kazuma replied instantly.
"Can the useless goddess please stop talking?"
At that moment, Hephaestus finally answered.
"Sorry. I just asked Tsubaki. A while ago, several small Familias in Orario were indeed wiped out by the Loki Familia."
Kazuma immediately sent a string of bowing emojis.
"Please forgive me, merciful Lord Loki."
Shizuka gasped.
"Hey, Loki, with the friendship between us, you won't make things difficult for me, right? Right?"
Loki sent a few question marks.
"Who are you? I don't know you."
Shizuka Hiratsuka: ...
Watching the exchange, Emiya couldn't help but chuckle.
"Relax. As long as I don't bring Loki to your world, she can't do anything to you."
Shizuka replied at once.
"That's great then."
Kazuma followed up.
"Emiya, from now on, you're my savior."
Emiya answered.
"Don't worry. As long as you don't completely offend Loki, I won't let her bully you. But if you really make her mad, you're on your own."
As a member of the Loki Familia, Emiya couldn't let her be treated too unfairly.
Still, Loki wasn't satisfied.
"You're my person. Why are you always siding with everyone else?"
Emiya replied simply.
"Probably because you're too strong."
Loki: ...
At that moment, Emiya noticed something odd.
Professor Agasa was sitting right in front of him, tapping away at his phone, but Emiya hadn't seen a single message from him in the group chat.
That was strange.
Emiya stood up and walked behind him. What he saw made him pause.
Professor Agasa was chatting with Yuki Nagato.
The two of them were using a separate chat group.
Emiya immediately understood why Professor Agasa's messages hadn't appeared.
He was busy talking about something else with Yuki Nagato.
It was... interesting.
Emiya could already imagine that as he traveled to more worlds and met more people, once everyone had phones, those with similar interests would naturally form their own chat groups.
Madam Pai, Erina Nakiri, and Gin Dojima would definitely end up with a chef's group.
Shinobu Kocho, Shiho Miyano, and any doctors he recruited in the future would form a medical group.
Maybe someday there would even be an adventurers' chat, a gods' chat, or separate girls' and boys' chats.
Emiya didn't mind any of that.
If everyone was squeezed into one group, messages would flood in so fast that no one could even read them properly.
He returned to his seat and checked his phone.
As expected, dozens of unread messages had piled up in just that short time.
It made sense. Everyone was excited about using the chat group for the first time.
Once the novelty wore off, things would calm down.
Too lazy to read through everything, Emiya sent a single message.
"I'm going to bed. Good night, everyone."
Kazuma replied immediately.
"Huh? You're sleeping already? What time is it?"
Loki sent a picture of someone slamming their hand on a table.
"Get up and get hyped."
Emiya smiled faintly, exited the chat, put his phone away, and returned to his room.
As a mature adult, he wasn't about to let chatting ruin his sleep schedule.
The next morning, Emiya woke up early.
When he checked his phone, he saw hundreds of unread messages.
The one who had sent the most was, without question, Loki.
If she lived in the modern world, she'd absolutely be an internet celebrity.
Emiya looked at the last message, sent at 4:00 a.m., and couldn't help but suck in a breath.
He tagged Erina Nakiri.
"Are you up yet?"
Her reply came quickly.
"Is something the matter, Lord Emiya?"
"For breakfast," Emiya typed, "soy milk and fried dough sticks, plus two baskets of soup dumplings. Is that fine?"
Erina Nakiri: ...
"I understand," she replied. "I'll prepare them right away."
Only then did Emiya get up.
He washed his face, brushed his teeth, changed into clean clothes, and headed to Kikkaro Restaurant.
In the kitchen, Madam Pai, Erina Nakiri, and Hisako Arato were already busy.
Before long, a very traditional breakfast of soy milk and fried dough sticks was set on the table.
A few minutes later, Madam Pai brought out two more baskets of dumplings.
The kind that glowed.
Emiya ate with clear satisfaction.
Madam Pai, Erina Nakiri, and Hisako Arato sat beside him and ate as well.
While they ate, Erina patiently taught Madam Pai how to use the chat group's various features.
After all, this was the first time Madam Pai had ever used something like this.
Just then, Emiya noticed he'd been tagged.
He opened the group chat.
It was Loki.
"Bring me a serving of that soy milk and fried dough sticks too. And ten baskets of dumplings."
Emiya rolled his eyes.
"You're not expecting me to deliver it to you, are you?"
"Of course," Loki replied. "Who else would do it? Or you could just come pick me up. I haven't been to Kikkaro Restaurant yet."
"Where are you?" Emiya asked.
"Twilight Manor, obviously."
"Alright. I'll come get you. By the way, is it just you there?"
Ais Wallenstein replied.
"I'm here too."
Riveria Ljos Alf followed.
"If possible, count me in as well."
"So you two are there," Emiya said. "But I didn't see you post anything yesterday."
Riveria explained.
"We went shopping with some friends yesterday. We didn't have time."
Emiya nodded.
"Alright. Wait at Twilight Manor. I'll be there soon."
When Madam Pai heard that more people were coming, she immediately said, "I'll go prepare more dumplings and soy milk."
"No need," Emiya said, waving his hand.
In an instant, he created a dozen baskets of dumplings, seven or eight bowls of soy milk, and a large pile of fried dough sticks.
"I'll be right back."
With that, he activated his ability, entered Orario, and arrived at Twilight Manor.
There, he found Loki, Ais, and Riveria.
A few minutes later, Madam Pai watched as Emiya returned with three beautiful women.
"Let me introduce them," Emiya said.
He pointed at the red-haired woman.
"This is Loki."
Then the blonde.
"This is Ais."
Finally, the green-haired elf.
"This is Riveria. They're all from Orario."
Pai quickly pulled out three stools and greeted them warmly.
"Welcome to Kikkaro Restaurant."
Loki's eyes swept around the place.
"Where's the food that glows?"
Emiya pointed toward the steamer basket.
"Right there."
Erina Nakiri lifted the lid.
Brilliant light burst out, nearly blinding Loki.
Riveria couldn't help but comment,
"It really is glowing."
She had never seen food like this before.
What was the principle behind it? Was there some kind of spell involved?
Ais, the Sword Princess, sat down silently and prepared to eat.
Riveria thoughtfully placed a basket of dumplings in front of her.
Loki picked up a dumpling with practiced ease, took a bite, and slowly closed her eyes.
"Yes. This is the taste," she said softly. "This is the heart."
It was the most heartfelt dish she had eaten in centuries.
It had been hundreds of years since she'd tasted food like this.
She suddenly sighed.
"What a shame."
"If you hadn't already joined that little shrimp Hestia's Familia..."
"I really would've wanted you to join mine."
