Naynah's POV
This day was a complete disaster. The moment I stepped into the Grand Immortal Hall, my eyes locked with hers—the princess. Gods, how I hate that princess.
As if it weren't enough that every single night I have to deal with my mate's betrayal, now I also have to watch him show interest in that girl.
"Aren't you the one who kept saying he's a vampire—our sworn enemy?" said Ava
"Yes, but as long as he hasn't rejected me, he's still my mate." said Naynah
I'm sick of this. That girl is getting even more attention than before. Evera, that filthy whore, dared her to take on the Devil's Race. No one—absolutely no one—has ever managed to complete it. And she accepted. What an idiot. Does she actually think she'll make it to the finish line?
Mr. Kendrick blew the whistle to announce the start. She was late by a few seconds, so I laughed at her. But my smirk vanished instantly. She overtook Evera and switched into military mode, flying over each obstacle one by one. And not just passing them—passing them with speed. I was convinced she'd fail at the ninth obstacle, but I was wrong. She crossed it in a blur, faster than even I could ever manage. Then the tenth. And then—I saw Mr. Kendrick grinning from ear to ear.
"Wow. You just broke my record. You're the first student in this university's history to finish it." said Kendrick
"Apart from you, of course." said princess
She joked, and I swear, when I say I hate her, I mean it. Her friend stared at her, still stunned.
"So you weren't kidding when you said you ran this course five times a day." said Asher
She arched an eyebrow at him.
"You've known me a week. You should know by now what I'm like." said the princess
Mr. Kendrick blew his whistle again.
"Alright, that was impressive, but it's the others' turn now. My grandfather, Manrick, will take over for me." said Kendrick
Two other students lined up for the race. Kendrick led the princess aside. Moments later, I saw him peel off his shirt.
Holy shit. Bloody hell. The man looked like a f**ing Greek god. And that idiot princess was the one standing there with him—instead of me. They squared off and began sparring. I turned away, forcing my eyes back to the obstacle course. I tried again and again, failing, retrying, pushing myself. Hours passed—four hours of brutal training at the highest level—before it was finally over.
"Good. We'll meet again next time. And you, Athénia—work on the weaknesses I pointed out." said Kendrick
"Yes, sir." said the princess.
We went to the locker rooms to change. The princess and her little entourage left before us.
When I finished, I stepped out, my rage boiling. I officially hated that girl. That gave me more than enough reason to kill her. She might shine at obstacle courses, but she'll never stand a chance against me. I'll end her tonight. I'll savor it.
Outside, I saw her and her friends getting into her car.
It's decided. I'll finish her. I already know her routine—I've been following her for days. She'll head to the park. I don't care what she does there, but I know exactly what I'll do: kill her.
I climbed into my taxi with a smile.
"To the park, please." I said
The driver pulled away.
"So you're really going to kill her out of jealousy?" said Ava
"I'm going to complete my mission and erase her from my mate's sight once and for all." I said
My wolf sighed and withdrew into the shadows of my mind. I started planning her death in detail.
When we arrived, I paid the driver and stepped into the park. She always came here with her friends, lingering for hours. I wore all black so she wouldn't recognize me. My plan was simple: my sword, straight through her heart.
"Nayn, I don't think this is a good idea." said Ava
"Sooner or later she has to die. Better now than dragging out the inevitable." I said
" Then do what you want, Nayn." said Ava
She vanished again. I waited. And waited.
An hour later, just as I predicted, she arrived. Darkness had already fallen over the park. She began singing something I didn't understand as she stood by the lake. Perfect. I crept closer, silent, until—snap. A branch cracked beneath my foot.
She turned. At that moment, I thrust my blade straight into her chest.
She screamed. A scream so loud, I knew her friends had heard. I ripped the sword free and plunged it into her stomach. Footsteps pounded closer. A voice shrieked.
"LISSSSS!" said Mara
I yanked my sword out and shoved the princess's body into the lake. Then I ran. The vampire chased me, but I was too fast. I vanished into the night, leaving him behind.
From afar, I could hear their cries, their panic. Yes—she was dead.
I ducked into an abandoned shop, changed out of my black clothes, and torched the place, burning everything inside. Then I slipped into the crowd gathering around the flames, smiling as if I were just another bystander. My mission was complete. On to mission number two.
Back at my building, chaos reigned—people panicking about the fire, or maybe about the princess's attack. I didn't care. I took the elevator to my floor, entered my apartment, stripped off, and sank into the bath, waiting for the pain to come.
" I hope you're happy now." said Ava
"Yes. My first mission is done. On to the second." I said
Because my true task isn't only killing the princess. I must also kill the future Lord of Vampires. My mate. What a cruel joke.
And I'll use the bond to do it. Even if I reject him, I'll risk losing my sanity. Rejection doesn't kill an Alpha wolf, but it can drive us mad. Still, it's the only way. For him, though? It'll mean unbearable pain. Maybe even death. And when that moment comes, I'll cut off his head and finish it. Mission accomplished.
I was about to celebrate the relief of not feeling any bond-pain—proof that my mate hadn't touched that slut—when, to my horror, it hit me. Agony ripped through me like a whip.
The goddess is cruel. Why did she tie me to my enemy? To a blind fool who doesn't even realize the bond exists?
But in the end, I will win. I will finish him.
I let my head sink beneath the bathwater, surrendering to the darkness.
