Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Call Smoker

The Going Merry sail silently into the docks of the Marine base. No guards shouted, no cannons fired. Why? Because Jack used his illusion to wrap the ship in a veil of invisibility.

"Oi, oi…" Usopp whispered, clutching his slingshot nervously. "We're literally sailing into a Marine headquarters. Are you guys insane!?"

"Shut up," Zoro muttered, hand resting casually on his swords. "You're the one shaking like a leaf."

Sanji said calmly. "Relax, Usopp. If Jack says we're invisible, then we're invisible."

"Guys silent, luckily my ability also can mask the sound otherwise those marine will see us.

Luffy, however, was grinning ear to ear, his straw hat tipped back. "Heh. We're gonna find that evil mouse and punch him!"

"Luffy, you now know how to call his name correctly, yeah his not nezumi but a mouse," complimented Jack.

While Nami frowned and wasn't smiling. The thought of facing Nezumi, the man who had been secretly protecting Arlong, made her blood boil, but it also made her uneasy. She clutched her arm, hiding her trembling fingers.

While Nami frowned and wasn't smiling. The thought of facing Nezumi, the man who had been secretly protecting Arlong, made her blood boil, but it also made her uneasy. She clutched her arm, hiding her trembling fingers.

Jack, standing at the bow, raised a hand. "Quiet. We're here."

The Straw Hats disembarked under cover of illusion, thanks to Jack they arrived safely.

And then they heard it.

Cursing.

Loud, shrill, venomous cursing.

They followed the sound until they reached an infirmary door slightly ajar. Jack gestured for silence, then tilted the illusion so they could peer inside without being noticed.

Inside, Captain Nezumi lay on a medical bed, his chest and arms wrapped in bloody bandages. His face twisted in rage as he screamed at the trembling doctors tending to him.

"Useless trash! Can't even stop a little bleeding!? Do you know who I am!?" Nezumi's shrill voice cracked like nails on a chalkboard. "I'll throw you all in prison if you can't heal my hand! You hear me! Prison!"

One of the doctors stammered, sweat dripping down his forehead. "C-Captain, we've done all we can, but your wounds...."

"Shut your mouth!" Nezumi snapped, spittle flying. "I'll make sure your families suffer if you fail me!"

The crew looked on, silent, every one of them reacting differently.

Luffy fists trembled, his grin gone. "...I wanted to kick his ass."

Zoro eyes narrowed. "He's worse than I thought."

Sanji expression darken. "Threatening doctors who are saving his miserable life… pathetic."

Even Usopp, who normally shrank from confrontation, clenched his teeth. "He's… a monster."

Nami's hands balled into fists, her nails digging into her palms. Her body shook as she fought back tears. This was the man who had ruined her childhood—who let Arlong terrorize her village for years.

Nojiko holding Nami shoulder, because she knows Nami hurt more than her. She was forced to steal to save the villagers because of this one person.

Jack expression was unreadable. He looked at Nezumi the same way one might look at a bug crawling across the floor. His hand flexed, cosmic energy flickering faintly at his fingertips.

Finally, Jack spoke in a low voice, only the crew could hear.

"This man doesn't just deserve defeat. He deserves to be erased."

The air grew heavy. Even Luffy glanced at Jack in surprise.

"Erase him?" Zoro asked.

Jack's eyes glowed faintly golden. "I can make his existence… disappear. I mean using my full power even his body will disintegrate."

The crew froze.

Sanji's cigarette slipped from his lips. "...You can do that?"

Jack didn't answer. He simply looked at Nami.

The navigator eyes widened. The offer hung in the air, tempting, dangerous.

Nami's breathing quickened. She remembered every coin stolen, every villager who suffered, every scar Arlong carved into her heart, all protected by this man corruption.

Tears welled in her eyes.

Luffy stepped forward, breaking the silence. "No."

Everyone turned to him in shock.

Luffy's jaw was clenched, his voice firm. "He doesn't get to vanish. He doesn't get an easy way out. If he's a Marine, then the whole world needs to see what kind of trash he really is."

Jack studied him for a moment. "Are you really Monkey D Luffy?"

For a moment, he was surprised because of Luffy attitude. If he remember Luffy will said to his enemy, I will kick his ass but this time because of his existence, Luffy suddenly become smart guy, no longer idiot.

Nami wiped her tears, her voice hoarse but steady. "Then let's expose him. Not erase him. Not kill him in secret. Let everyone see the truth about Captain Nezumi."

Zoro cracked his knuckles. "Fine by me. But if he resists…" His swords gleamed in the dim light.

Sanji eyes hardened, his tone deadly calm. "Then we finish the job."

Jack closed his hand, the golden glow fading. "So be it. We drag the rat into the light."

....

The corridors of the Marine base still smelled of antiseptic and oil. The Straw Hats moved like shadows—silent, coordinated—until Nezumi finally realized the deception. He spun, alarm on his face, then fury.

"You... how dare you come hear!" he screamed upon seeing Jack, lunging for the nearest Marine emergency red button that can summon all the marine to here. He pushed the button, before the silent rang and every marine in base come here with rifle.

Luffy stepped forward, Zoro swords gleamed in the dim light, Sanji jaw was tight. Usopp trembled, but his hands didn't leave his slingshot. Nojiko stayed behind Nami, frightened but try to appear as strong.

Nezumi sneered. "So this is the Straw Hat crew. Thought you could walk into Marine headquarters and leave unscathed? You... you've done this to me and you will pay."

He raised a hand and gestured the other marine to attack him.

Jack didn't speak instead he stepped forward with Luffy.

"Shoot me," said Jack.

"No shoot me," added Luffy.

Nezumi feel angry he ordered them to shoot.

Jack body have 5X superhuman strength and even 1 superhuman strength from the body of eternal could block bullet. Using musket gun agains them is a bit pathetic.

Marines shouted open, Nojiko and Nami had used their Vibranium suit to protect themself. While Usopp hiding behind nami because he didn't have the power to erect barrier. Though his vibranium suit is more than capable to block the bullet.

In a minute, every marine had been beaten. Jack didn't use the power of cosmic gun or exoskeleton, instead he used his raw power to beat them.

When Nezumi tried to flee, the moment came. Jack aimed low, targeting movement, mobility. The attack hit Nezumi's lower body with crushing force that snapped knees and bowled him to the ground. He screamed, half with rage, half with the shock of sudden helplessness.

For a heartbeat, a sick silence fell over the room. The captain lay incapacitated, unable to run. His half lower body had gone. Around him, the Marines become scared and they ran away in fear. One by one, weapons clattered to the floor.

"Save me! Save me now, goddamn you—save me or I'll—!"

A doctor, someone Nezumi had bullied and threatened only hours ago. stood frozen for a heartbeat, then moved wanted to run away. It was Jack who catch the doctor and told him to save him, then he will let doctor go.

Jack watched the doctor work. For a long moment he considered letting the rat die for everything he'd done. But Nezumi's survival meant evidence, testimony, and what worse than letting smoker and garp knows about his corruption. Even if he manage to evade prison by using his father connection, without legs his life would become very difficult.

He planned to make him injured badly, but his cosmic gun overload and destroyed half of his leg.

Jack spoke to the captured soldiers. "You will stay where you are. You will not move. If anyone leaves this room, the consequences will be immediate." He left unsaid what that meant, but they know to well what does it mean.

Before long, Jack had pulled a Den Den Mushi to his side and asked one of the marine to call Smoker.

"Smoker," Jack said into the receiver, "this is Jack F Corrie. I'm at the Marine base near Cocoyasi. You need to come to Loguetown. I have evidence of Captain Nezumi corruption, proof that he covered for Arlong and orchestrated bribes and suppression. I have witnesses. I am placing the man under guard. Bring your squad."

There was a long silence at the other end, a sound like someone who had just heard the first piece of a puzzle. Then Smoker's voice, hard as flint. "You tell me exactly where. Don't—don't let him disappear. If this is true, I'll be there and who are you again?"

"I am pirate, the vice captain of strawhat pirates," replied Jack.

"What?" smoker shouted.

Jack hung up the Den Den Mushi and turned to the marines captive. "When Smoker arrives," he said, "you will confess everything. You will let every Marine in headquarters know what Nezumi did. Until then, you stay." He reached into his coat but did not produce a weapon the way a villain would. He produced compact devices, small, exotic-looking nodes that hummed faintly, then affixed them to the Marines' belts and to several structural points around the room.

He did not explain, only stated: "If anyone removes these, the alarm will detonate the devices. You will not be able to call for help without me knowing. If Smoker comes and listens to the whole story, every sin, every bribe, every cover-up, then I will deactivate them. If he does not come, if someone attempts to move Nezumi or hide the facts… then the record will seal and there will be no hiding what occurred here."

No one dared to move. The devices were strange and alien and frightening, and Jack's recent display had made the idea of fighting him impossible.

Smoker was on his way from Loguetown with 10 ship.
