Chapter 29 - Temporary travel companion

In a deserted district, a dilapidated slum hidden within the metropolis of the great city on the planet Ciwa, a young girl in a Gothic Lolita outfit, with long black hair ending in wavy tips, gently nudged. Her red eyes sparkled, and her pale, slender figure lay unconscious.

After the battle that had infiltrated Kai's mind, she woke up and hurried to find Kai's group immediately. Kai, sensing her presence thanks to the power of The Vision Eye, was already waiting on the ship. Rese, noticing her arrival, spoke:

"What are you waiting for, boss?"

"I don't know… I just feel like the one named Septa is coming here for some reason. Not dangerous, but friendly. I can feel it, and I also know she's flying this way."

At that moment, Septa arrived at the landing pad. Using her power to delve into the minds of those around, she discovered where Kai's group was.

Kai, waiting on the spacecraft, saw Septa approach and bowed respectfully, saying:

"Please forgive me for what I have done."

Septa replied,

"It's alright. I forgive you… Is that all you needed, Septa?"

Immediately, Kai sensed Septa's true intentions—she meant no harm. He asked gently:

"What do you want, Septa?"

Septa spoke in a soft, gentle voice, as if requesting something precious from Kai:

"Could you take me to the planet Teruda?"

Rese scowled and replied sharply,

"No way! This party is full already!"

She made a playful frown to appear serious.

Kai reassured her,

"Septa has changed. No need to worry, Rese."

Rese muttered, "Boss, why are you so gentle… You're making me softhearted. Fine, but there's one condition: no using powers to invade others' minds on the ship."

Kai looked at Septa kindly and said,

"Alright. I'll take you along to Teruda, but if you use your power on us, you'll have to leave immediately… Can you manage that?"

Septa lifted her head and nodded slightly, replying,

"I will follow the rules."

Kai allowed her aboard, making her a travel companion.

Kai took the pilot's seat in the control room. The ship slowly lifted off and accelerated, shooting out from Ciwa into the vastness of space.

Kai asked Rese, "Where to next?"

Rese answered, "Southwest, boss. Planet Teruda. Coordinates: 3322."

The spacecraft roared as it initiated warp to Teruda, confirming coordinates 3322 and executing the jump.

Vwoom… Swoom… Whheee…

The ship arrived near Teruda safely.

As Kai piloted, he grew pensive:

"Looks like we've obtained The Vision Eye. How does it work, and what abilities does it grant?"

Rese lay on the sofa reading a novel while Septa sat quietly, expressionless, gazing out the window. Eugene rested on the ship's bed.

Kai thought, "How did I know Septa would come without malicious intent? Could this be The Vision Eye's ability—to sense the positions and emotions of others? Maybe it requires prior knowledge of someone and perhaps allows reading the movements of life forms, predicting what they might do. For instance, Rese is reading a romance novel on the spaceship. The title seems strange… Let's test it."

Kai asked Rese while piloting,

"What are you reading?"

Rese blushed and answered,

"A fantasy novel, boss. Really, I'm not lying."

Kai said,

"I saw this one recently. What's the title… 'Love with the Senior…' Something like that. Have you read it?"

Rese's cheeks burned. She quickly closed the book and hurriedly changed the topic.

"Boss, I'm sleepy… Wake me up when we arrive."

She pretended to sleep.

Septa sat quietly, looking out the window, and murmured,

"Having friends like this is quite fun."

As Kai piloted, he used The Vision Eye, immediately realizing,

"So that's it. My assumption was correct. Rese is pretending to sleep to avoid the question. The Vision Eye's range must be fairly wide. Looks like a meteor is heading toward our ship."

Sure enough, a meteor flew directly toward them. Kai maneuvered the ship to dodge it in time.

"This must be The Vision Eye's power… This is exciting. It feels like I have a new ability… Awesome!"

Finally, the ship arrived at planet Teruda.
