Chapter 17: Chief Honkale
A Holstaurus with rare red hair her name is Ella.
With cold, piercing eyes, lips that never smile, and a sharp nose, she had the beauty of someone carved from ice.
She wasn't always like this, but after her son died, she never smiled, and this was especially true when she saw Millie and Milk.
Milk, however, was unfazed by Ella's glare. He approached her, stood on tiptoe, and tried to nuzzle her neck to greet her by scent, as was custom. But he was too short and could only reach her chest.
In Holstaurus greetings, the junior initiates the greeting, and the senior is supposed to bend down to meet them. But Ella simply stared at him, making no move to help.
It would be rude for the junior to stop first, so Milk, even though he couldn't reach, had to stay in that position and wait for her to accept the greeting.
Ignoring a greeting is also rude, but pointing it out would only sour relations, so Milk patiently waited.
'She's scary, but she smells nice... I wish she'd open her heart a little.'
He knew he wasn't to blame for Orca's death, but Ella's expression always made him feel as if she blamed him.
Still, Milk resolved to always approach her first and be especially polite and warm in her presence, hoping to break the ice.
In her cold eyes, a flash of regret passed. Of course she knew she couldn't help but notice Milk reaching out to her first.
'You little brat... Why do you make it so hard for me to hate you?'
Milk's persistence was slowly melting her heart. A heart frozen like a glacier takes time to thaw, but once it starts, it can melt quickly.
Perhaps thanks to this, her favorability had reached 20, despite her cold exterior.
She still wasn't close to Millie, but if Milk could win her over, he could help reconcile them later.
After what felt like an eternity, Ella finally bent down, nuzzled Milk's neck, and accepted his greeting.
Milk, exhausted, steadied himself by holding her waist, but Ella didn't mind she knew she'd made him wait.
Ella even patted Milk's head a couple of times a sign her heart was opening.
Seeing this, Millie relaxed and greeted Ella in turn.
After the greetings, Ella stepped aside and told them Honkale was waiting.
"He's waiting for you. Go on in."
Her voice was still icy, but noticeably softer than before, and Millie sighed in relief.
Inside, they saw a boy sitting in the largest chair, dignified and imposing Milk's father, Honkale.
He looked much like Milk, but taller, with sturdier horns and, most notably, a penis over 25 cm an impressive figure.
"Millie welcome. Thanks for your hard work milking. Is it all in that jar?"
"Yes, dear. I filled it completely."
"Well done. Could you do a bit more? There are people waiting in the storehouse. Leave it there and come back. I want to have dinner with our son tonight, so bring the food."
"Yes, dear. I'll be back. Milk stay here with your father."
"Okay, Mom."
With that, Millie left with the jar, and Milk was alone with Honkale.
'Here it comes,' Milk thought meaning Honkale's typical behavior.
Suddenly, Honkale abandoned his dignified posture, rushed over, and hugged Milk tightly, kissing his cheeks and forehead repeatedly.
"Milk Milk my son, you're here! I missed you! You've grown so much!"
"Dad, that tickles Isn't this weird for two guys?"
"What's weird about a father kissing his son?"
"Ugh "
Honkale was an unabashed doting father. He only acted this way when they were alone, but his love was excessive he even preferred sleeping next to Milk rather than Millie.
After getting his fill of Milk's scent, Honkale finally let him go, but stayed close, asking about his life.
"How are you?"
"Fine... Sometimes it's tough being surrounded by girls, but they're nice, so it's not bad."
"Heh You have twenty girls, I have fifty. Back in my day, it was even more."
Honkale's wives now number sixty, including those who once belonged to Milk's grandfather.
The older wives rarely come out, living in warm houses cared for by their daughters.
Holstaurus age slowly, but their bones eventually weaken, making it hard to move in old age, especially with such heavy bodies.
Despite digressing, Milk enjoyed catching up with his father and friend.
"How far have you gone with your mom?"
"Dad, that's not something you ask your son!"
"Why not? At your age, I'd already done it with your mom."
"Come on... That's supposed to be taboo in the tribe."
"So what? I was basically the most powerful man in the tribe, and your grandfather turned a blind eye to a little mischief."
"Jeez... Why didn't you make grandma your wife?"
"She loved your grandfather too much. I couldn't separate them. There was a plague back then, so most of his wives died, leaving only five. I couldn't split them up. But now, if you get the chance, go for it!"
'Is this really something a father should say to his son?'
Honkale was, to put it nicely, free-spirited; to put it bluntly, dangerously unconventional.
[A new achievement quest...]
'You too, Ru?!'
Ru explained, "The quest is called 'Steal Mother's Heart.' You just need to reach a certain level of relationship with Millie."
'Ugh... I really can't let my guard down with these people.'
[This quest has a time limit, but the reward is huge: 50 body enhancement points.]
'What?!'
Fifty points was a significant reward enough to make a tangible difference in strength or stamina.
No matter how you looked at it, it was too good to pass up. And the time was coming to define his relationship with Millie, who was starting to see him as a man.
"I give you my blessing. Take your mother as your wife. I already have sixty wives it's too much. Oh, and Buren seems interested in you, too. Take her as well. It's good to have older wives to keep the younger ones from fighting over status. You have no idea how much trouble I've had with that."
"Ugh..."
Milk could imagine the headaches. For once, he sympathized with Honkale and patted his back.
"What are you two talking about so happily?"
"Oh you're back?"
Millie returned from the storehouse. Honkale stopped their conversation and gave Milk a look, as if to say, "Do your best."
The family gathered for a cozy meal. Millie and Honkale ate, while Milk, whose stomach was still weak, nursed at Millie's breast.
After dinner, Honkale left to visit another wife. Milk watched him go, then walked home with Millie, holding her hand.
'With Mom... a relationship...'
[You seem confused?]
'Of course. I knew this day would come, but she's the one who gave birth to and raised me. It's only natural to feel strange.'
[Then may I suggest: why not sleep in her room tonight?]
'Tonight? Shouldn't I take some time to prepare...?'
[Sometimes, acting boldly brings better results than waiting for the right moment. If you hesitate, you might miss the deadline.]
'How long is the deadline?'
[A week.]
'So there's no way out of this.'
[To put it bluntly, now is the time to act.]
'Don't joke at a time like this '
[Sorry, Milk. But I'm serious. Now is the time.]
'I get it...'
[Millie is probably exhausted from milking and carrying the jar to the storehouse. If you go to her room at night, she'll likely be asleep. She may wake up when you start, but she won't resist. If you wait, your chances drop significantly tonight is your best opportunity.]
'Sigh...'
With Honkale's blessing and Ru's urging, Milk was moved to act. That night, when all was quiet, he slipped out of his room and crept to Millie's door, where he stood for a long time, his courage wavering now that the moment had arrived.
