Chapter 39 - Down One

"I'm in the midst of locating you guys...where are you?"

Phuture asked while wearing a confused facial expression, deliberately ignoring her request to drop as leader of The Demon Corps.

Anerica rolled her eyes, she replied. "There's no need to come searching for me...in fact there's a chance you'll die if you do. So if I were you, I'd just stay the hell outta my way. There's no reason for you to die too."

"Too?"

America nodded. "Chicago, you didn't tell me that he was killed."

Phuture, Dark, ans Itaska all reacted differently from her words, but only Phuture replied. "Against The Confederate Demon...I had to restore his soul and bring him to life with divine life energy."

"I know, Valeur told me you resurrected my nephew. Apparently that makes his soul easier to manipulate...now I have to kill everyone in The Demon Corps to save him."

Phuture and Dark exchanged glares, both of them knew this would pose a huge problem. Not only will it slow down the timing of saving Dark from demon realms, but Willie Lou is much more powerful than before and could kill many people herself.

"I'm sorry Ms. America...but I won't be allowing anyone else to die. Do you have any idea on Chicago's location? I can help you bring him back!"

"No need." America faced upwards and said. "Excuse me from this realm and send me back please? I was in the middle of something important."

Phuture transferred Ms. America back to her location as requested, excusing her from the meeting and releasing a deep sigh afterwards,

Losing Willie Lou was definitely a gut punch, causing her to regret keeping the truth hidden as a lie.

"Itaska." Dark's voice echoed out after America's dismissal, he asked. "Is your loyalty still with us?"

"Yes!" Itaska expressed no hesitation or doubts in his answer. "Valeur nearly pulled the same trick with my sister and I...but The Divine Goddess showed up in time. I believe I'm currently in someone's realm being healed...his spiritual pressure alone wounded me."

Itaska's injuries weren't too severe and could only take hours to heal, but his sister was in dire need for help and could take days.

"Who is the acting leader of The Itaska while you and your sister are out?" Phuture asked, concerned about the authority of her allies. "Is there anything I could do?"

"We have a plan for this...third in line behind Aspen and I is an extremely powerful woman. Her name is Jorize " The name that came from his mouth caused alarm of familiarity, triggering a sense of knowing the woman that he spoke about. "You guys met Jorize?"

There was a silence.

Itaska awaited for an answer, but recieved more silence in return.

"She is my mother." Finally, Dark spoke out in response. "My true Earth given name by my mother is Jordie...but I didn't know she was alive during this timeline..."

Itaska's jaw dropped, there was so many questions flustering in his mind at once. How could he know the mother of a Divine God? Does that mean Jorize also contains divinity?

"Does...Jorize also have your divine prowess?" Itaska asked. "Or did you obtain your power seperately from genetics?"

"Seperately." Dark answered. "My mother raised me to be powerful, but the divinity came much further down the road of life. I would like to meet with her soon...but I'll have to break free from my current situation first. If you have an opportunity of speaking with her again soon...don't tell her about this please."

Itaska nodded, accepting the answer and request to keep things to himself.

"Itaska...I'll be needing you to stop Willie Lou..." Phuture spoke softly to Itaska, she continued. "I'll be taking Death and Space along with me to find Dark."

Dark turned to face her at the sound of his daughter's name, unaware that the rest of his children arrived to locate them.

"All our kids are here now...must of them are with Itaska inside Space's healing domain after battling against Valeur. Space was able to fight him off, but she's sure he's still alive and his threat still lingers. I'm honestly not sure what to do about this lingering threat...since I'll need Space's assistance to bring you back."

"Take your time and recover, you've been running close to empty for months. Besides, you'll likely lose your soul there if you aren't above twenty percent."

Dark told her to remain patient and heal, signaling he could at least hold his ground for few more days until she was fully healed.

"Very well...I'll spend two or three days in Space's healing domain until I'm at full power. Then I'll find a way to enter the demon realms, but I'll still need you to defend The Demon Corps from Willie Lou. I can assure you Space will be the first to respond against an appearance of Valeur...and that should conclude everything to wrap this meeting up."

"Not quite." Dark declined to end the meeting with one more thing in mind. "Are you sure about leading The Demon Corps? Last time I saw you, your mental state was just harmed as your spiritual state while you waited for Life to wake."

"You're right about that...I was suffering from a miniature depression. Life awakened and a lot took place...our Diaz babies formulated a plan to save us. I don't have time to be depressed when my children offered their lives to save us...and Empathy gave her life to help assure Life arrive here."

Dark frowned, but he was already aware of Empathy's death. He communicated with Life telepathically before he was dropped into the demon realms, and she enlightened him on details of her twin sister's death.

"Life still has possesion of Empathy's soul and now that Space is back...they can revive her. In fact, I'm sure Space is already working on that. But on the contrary, I understand that's motivation for you to fight as leader. You have my support, of course."

Phuture took a deep breath of relaxation, joyful to hear that she would see her Empathy again. She knew it would take days for her resurrection inside of Space's domain, but the patience was certainly worth it long as they avoided Valeur.

"Three days is all I need...Itaska only needs a single day...therefore we get straight to work tomorrow when you're released!" Phuture announced, her head and eyes tilted from Itaska to her husband. "In three days, we'll be on our way to the demon realms for you!"

Dark cracked a smile for the first time in awhile, thrilled to see his wife regaining her confidence after a disastrous day.

"Very well...I suppose this meeting is adjourned."

"Meeting adjourned." Phuture agreed and deactivated The Realm to end their discussion.

Phuture opened her eyes in a bed at the headquarters, her youngest child, Harriet, and Robert seated in chairs next to the bed.

Space's eyes trailed off and Robert looked away to avoid eye contact.

Phuture asked. "What?"

Harriet sighed deeply while glaring her in the eyes and said, "We have Chicago's location, he's on a demon killing spree in the south right now."
